Hoar Father page[edit]

Hi, I was just curious to know : why did you changed the missing words I added to one of the quote ? I mean, they are verified just like other words. Is there a specific site to give as source ? Kahvozein (talk) 00:54, 30 March 2020 (GMT)

Where/how did you verify them? We don't have anything on the wiki that points to a translation for those words, so I assumed it was speculation. If there's an in-game text or official translation somewhere, that's what we're looking for. If you just got the translation off the web or from another wiki, that's not sufficient unless they're citing a reliable source themselves. If they are verifiable, then by all means, we can put them back on the page, though. We just want to be sure. Thanks! Robin Hood  (talk) 02:11, 30 March 2020 (GMT)
Is the "Prima Games Official Game Guide: Skyrim Legendary Edition" a sufficient source? It contains a lot of official word translations that could help enhancing the site.— Unsigned comment by Kahvozein (talkcontribs) at 22:54 on 30 March 2020
Yes, the official Prima Guides are sufficient. There are still several places on the site where pages can be updated with information from there. However, you should still source sentences where information from the guides is used. --Ilaro (talk) 23:08, 30 March 2020 (GMT)

Question[edit]

Hello!

Just wondering, when I add the {{unsigned|user}} to an unsigned comment, do I mark it as a minor edit? Werewolfvampirre  (talk)

If that's all you're doing, then yeah, that would be minor. If you're actually replying to a comment, then I'd consider it a normal edit. It's not a big deal if you get it wrong either way, though. Robin Hood  (talk) 20:30, 9 May 2020 (GMT)

Effect Cell Mechanic[edit]

Hello,

I'm working to help add/update pages for the new alchemy reagents and runes, and their effects that were released with the Greymoor chapter. Could you help me understand why, after creating what I believe to be a properly formatted stub article on the Timidity effect, does the reagent list on https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Alchemy_Ingredients#Reagents not display the appropriate color for an offensive effect (red) nor the ON-icon-effect-Alchemy-Lower_Spell_Resist.png icon for the Timidity effect?

Thank you,

-Nate

It appears to be working now. It may have just taken a while for the wiki to catch up to what you'd done. There can be a couple of reasons for this, but typically, purging the Alchemy Ingredients page would cause it to refresh properly. If you're not familiar with purging a page, you can do it either using a gadget (see the Gadgets page in your preferences, or by editing the page and then changing the action=edit to action=purge. Dragonborn page protection broke mod icon?[edit]

Hello!

I noticed that after the Skyrim: Dragonborn page was semi-protected, the mod icon in the header now appears to be broken somehow, at least for me. It now shows up as this icon instead of what it should. Not sure if the page protection broke the header somehow or if it's just a weird problem on my end, but I thought I'd point it out anyway. — Wolfborn(Howl) 22:03, 21 September 2020 (UTC)

That appears to have been temporary, or possibly someone purged the page to fix it. Either way, it's good now. The utility we're using to save page data like that was written back around MW 1.10 and updated as needed since then, but it could really use an overhaul to fix these sorts of issues. In the meantime, the best we can do is purge the page and see if things get fixed. If not, then it's likely a template issue or something. Robin Hood(talk) 22:10, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
Actually, I just figured it out and fixed it. The Protected template was added after the Mod Header template and that was breaking the icon. I moved the Protected template to the beginning of the page and that seems to have fixed the issue. Unfortunately that idea occurred to me two minutes after I posted here. Anyway, it's all good now, thanks. — Wolfborn(Howl) 22:15, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
Hmmm...in that case, that's something I'll want to take a look at to see what's going on there. Thanks for the info! Robin Hood(talk) 22:20, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
Hmmm... this gets stranger... I just tried moving the Protection template back to its old position, and a Page Preview came up perfectly okay for me. Not sure what the heck happened there now. I think I'll just leave this here and stop trying to figure it out... — Wolfborn(Howl) 22:31, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
My first guess was correct, it was indeed the add-on that saves data that was the issue. It had been worked around previously and documented in the Mod Header docs, but apparently, I never fixed it on that page (or it got reverted at some point if I did). I'll have to see if there are any other instances like that. Robin Hood(talk) 22:34, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for figuring it out and clarifying! — Wolfborn(Howl) 22:36, 21 September 2020 (UTC)

New template[edit]

Hey, I've been doing some work on the Tes5Mod:Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil namespace and wanted to ask a favour. Similarly to TR, which has Tamriel Data, Beyond Skyrim has BSAssets. I wanted to start add some stuff in that namespace too and wondered if we could create a new template akin to {{BS5C|}}? Ideally I'd like {{BSA|XYZ}} being a link to [[Tes5Mod: Beyond Skyrim: BSAssets/XYZ|]] (I'd like to keep {{BS5A|}} for the Atmora release). Is this something you could help with? Thanks! --SerCenKing (talk) 20:24, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

That shouldn't be a problem. I'll have a look at it later tonight. Robin Hood(talk) 23:51, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
All done! Let me know if there are any issues. Robin Hood(talk) 00:34, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
Looks perfect, thank you very much! --SerCenKing (talk) 20:00, 5 October 2020 (UTC)

Another Broken Mod Header Icon[edit]

Hi Robin

I noticed that the Mod Header icon for the Markarth DLC is not displaying properly; it shows this: [[File:|x32px|Markarth|link=Online:Markarth (DLC)]] instead of the icon (as seen on this page, for example). I can't for the life of me figure out how or where to fix this, so I thought I'd give you a heads-up. — Wolfborn(Howl) 00:33, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

I've fixed the template to not spit out code. As for the icon itself, it needs to go in between the two bars in {{Mod Icon Data||36}} on the redirect page. Robin Hood(talk) 01:11, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. This template stuff is still mostly Greek to me, but I think I sorta kinda see what's going on here. Cheers! — Wolfborn(Howl) 02:21, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
LOL, it was to me too for the first several years I was here. Then, one day, I just kind of decided "Okay, I need to learn this." The basics were surprisingly easy, but counting the number of curly brackets is maddening to this day! Robin Hood(talk) 02:28, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

Hello sir[edit]

Now that you are over 50 I should call you sir, hopefully you remember me :/ after all these years I'm back, kind of. Nostalgia drove me to play TES 4 and some 5, better yet, to come back to editing this pretty place, get ready to clean after my mess ;) How are you? hopefully well awaiting your reply--Wizy (talk) 04:23, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

Wow, now there's a name I haven't seen in a long time! I'm not doing all that great, tbh...a lot of health issues. Setting those aside, though, I suppose things are well enough. How have you been? Hope you're enjoying TES 4 and 5! Robin Hood(talk) 05:23, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Sorry to hear, I was really hoping your health would be better now, I have been very good, I left because I didn't have the time. As for the games I'm so rusty I can't play them on max difficulty anymore, I'm shamefully playing them on medium difficulty this time around and.. still dying alot. :P glad to see you are still rocking this site. CHEERS --Wizy (talk) 05:55, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

Item Data Template[edit]

Hey, I've been working on some Beyond Skyrim items pages and wanted to use the Item Data template in some tables. I've come across a small issue though: is there any way to overwrite the template's default of linking to Skyrim pages? For one item, the tempering is by using a new ingot added by the mod, but the template won't accept the link (see here). Any ideas? Thanks! --SerCenKing (talk) 15:37, 31 December 2020 (UTC)

Okay, done. It works exactly the way you did it in the second example. Let me know if you need anything else! Robin Hood(talk) 20:25, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
Ah brilliant, thank you so much! --SerCenKing (talk) 14:09, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Account Creation[edit]

I’m having trouble creating an account. It repeatedly didn’t accept user names or information then eventually it gave me a error message saying my IP address had already created an account and a second could not be created in 24 hours. However I have no access through log in and did not receive any emails stating one was created. What can I do to get an account activated at those point? My email is Rodney.Hurtig@gmail.com

This seems to happen on rare occasions to some users, but we're not sure why, since most users have no issues at all. Just let me know what account name you'd like and I can get it set up for you. (Or, if I'm not around, any other wiki admin can help you. Most of them can be found on our Discord, if you want to speed the process right along.) Robin Hood(talk) 03:27, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
