Hello![edit]

Dialogue[edit]

I was looking over your edit here and noticed that you wrote "its" where "it's" would be grammatically correct. Was that how the line was written in-game, in which case it should be tagged as such, or was it just a typo on your part? Nice work filling out the Online pages, by the way.--Rook (talk) 20:22, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

I believe that's how it was written in-game. My main character is parked in the crafting area that npc lives in, so I'll go back and double-check it once I've finished the walkthrough I'm writing.MolagBallet (talk) 21:13, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
Sounds good. Thank you!--Rook (talk) 21:21, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

Mount Images[edit]

Hey MolagBallet, nice work with all the mount images! I notice a lot of them are not 1:1 ratio (square), so if you're uploading any more or still have the original files you might crop them accordingly to meet our usual image standards. Keep it up! —Legoless (talk) 00:29, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

Image Categories[edit]

Remember to add categories when you upload images. You should be able to do this below the licensing drop down menu (I think you may have to enable the HotCat gadget). If that doesn't work you can always put it on a new line in the description. The majority of the uncategorized files list are all those prerelease images you recently uploaded.

Other than that, good job on all the effort you've put in the last few months! —Dillonn241 (talk) 09:52, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

Which categories should I put these prerelease images into? MolagBallet (talk) 21:27, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
Should be Category:Online-Pre release Images. If in doubt, you can always look for another image with the same prefix (ON-prerelease-). —Dillonn241 (talk) 15:53, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
Alright, Thanks! MolagBallet (talk) 16:43, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

Morrowind Dialogue[edit]

Hey MolagBallet, I noticed you added dialogue to Morrowind:Dubdilla. Per this page, any NPC with unique dialogue should actually have their own article created rather than continue to simply redirect to the People table on their location page. Feel free to go ahead and make an article if you come across any other NPCs with unique dialogue. —Legoless (talk) 13:02, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

Actually, it seems the reason this NPC doesn't have a page is because that dialogue is not unique to her to begin with. I've removed it from the article. —Legoless (talk) 13:16, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

Stubs[edit]

Hi MolagBallet! Thank you so much for your help with the Online namespace! I absolutely don't mean to discourage you in any way, but I've noticed some pages getting destubbed before their time. Now, you don't have to do the super-detailed walkthroughs I tend to (that's an older one that's no longer quite up to current standard, but you get the idea), but as a general rule if there's still relevant information to add to an article, especially if it's not covered by a {{huh}} or a template, leave the stub tag up. For example, this edit is not quite enough for the article to be destubbed. There's a lot more information to be added. Where to get the heartstones, for one, alongside directions, dialogue, and so on. The stub signals that there's still work to be done. I know getting Online namespace even close to the standards of the earlier games is a monumental task, but take it one step at a time. Thank you! —likelolwhat talk lulzy to me 20:16, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for speaking up! Generally, I'll try to destub things that look like there's nothing else to add. Like NPCs who you can pickpocket, but not much else. I hadn't thought about stuff like heartstone locations being important, so I'll be more mindful when considering destubbing things like quest pages from now on. MolagBallet (talk) 20:31, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Userpatroller[edit]

Hey MolagBallet, I'm posting to let you know you easily exceeds the qualifications for Userpatroller status. Userpatroller is the first step towards becoming more involved with UESP. If you're interested, just add your name to the page under applicants. You can then also add its userbox to your page. Ilaro (talk) 10:42, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know! I'll definitely consider it. MolagBallet (talk) 23:17, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
I've given you the role as you requested. You should see red exclamation marks on userspace edits now. Congratulations! —Dillonn241 (talk) 21:03, 21 April 2019 (UTC)

Moving Images and Changing File Names[edit]

Hey there, I noticed on the File:ON-npc-Maralie Rendas.jpg page, that you reuploaded it with the correct name. I've made mistakes like that before and I'd like to point out an easier way of fixing it. On any said page, there should be tab called move which is located between the history and watch tabs. It will allow you to rename the file without having to re-upload the image. When this is done, the old title will become a redirect page to the new title. And it can later be dealt with.

Someone else showed me this, so I may as well pass on the information.--Talyyn (talk) 13:32, 24 May 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip! I was going to try that with that file, but I wasn't sure that the new name would transfer over. MolagBallet (talk) 01:53, 25 May 2019 (UTC)

ESO Lore Date[edit]

For lore articles, all events for ESO should now be 2E 582 due to the retcon that happened with Birds of Wrothgar. —Legoless (talk) 15:49, 23 February 2020 (GMT)

Okie dokie! MolagBallet (talk) 20:47, 23 February 2020 (GMT)

Slow Down[edit]

I wasn't able to contact you on Discord, but I wanted to let you know you are copying and pasting the word "location" for creatures and people in the achievement sections. Since you are currently editing right now, can you fix the ones you do from now on? I am going back through Recent Changes to fix as many as I can. —Dillonn241 (talk) 06:24, 11 April 2020 (GMT)

Will do! Thanks for letting me know. A lot of world bosses needed their difficulties updated, so I felt like updating them. I'll go back and fix them. MolagBallet (talk) 06:25, 11 April 2020 (GMT)
I started at your edit to Online:Rageclaw's Den‎ and went up from there, so anything you did before that still needs to be fixed. —Dillonn241 (talk) 06:29, 11 April 2020 (GMT)
Okie dokie, I'm starting back from Auridon and making my way back down the list now. MolagBallet (talk) 06:30, 11 April 2020 (GMT)

Quest Page Edits[edit]

Hello! I guess we're both working today - I see you're undoing several edits I'm making to quest listings on several pages (including the main Quests, Side Quests, Miscellaneous, and other pages), all of which are to correct many inconsistencies across these pages in terms of how quests are labeled across the wiki as well as how they're actually treated in game. There is a method to what I'm doing, and the reversions your trying to make to certain settlement/town pages are inconsistent with previously existing town page structure (i.e. before my edits today) and also will break several links. Could we please discuss before you do anything further? Thank you! Mikeprichard (talk)mikeprichard

Hey Mike, I hope your day is going great! I like some of your edits, but the top header for our quest section should be "Related Quests". Please see our Style Guide for more information. Any place page where it is not "Related Quests" should be changed to comply with this (as I'm sure you've seen, this is mostly consistent with the Skyrim and ESO namespaces as we automated our page creation process to include the style templates). I think noting which quests start in a location is useful in a subsection of related quests, for sure, that's a good idea. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 21:13, 15 May 2020 (GMT)
Thank you! However, I've found that this isn't actually the case (see e.g. most of the Skyrim "City" pages prior to today), and in fact results in many incorrectly duplicated quest listings. Although the Style Guide currently doesn't allow for this title, I would ask that it be incorporated in line with these existing City page layouts, as it's much more convenient to distinguish between quests that can be started in the location vs. quests that are started elsewhere. Mikeprichard (talk)mikeprichard
That's my fault. Back in 2011 when we did bot runs, we made the city pages first before we changed our template a week later to be "Related Quests". It was simply missed after that because the headers are fairly similar, and it wasn't a large concern with everything else Skyrim-related that needed to be done. The pages that have "Quests Starting Here" are wrong. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 21:25, 15 May 2020 (GMT)
Ah...however, I've just put several hours of work into aligning the pages in this way, as I find your initial city page layout infinitely more useful - when I visit a location, I naturally want to know which quests I can pick up there, while I can separately review on the location page quests that involve the location but don't start there. Having everything jumbled together in one category makes this impossible. So, can we please consider restoring the "Quests Started Here" heading to the template? I feel the pages are only "wrong" if we collectively say they're wrong - if there's a good reason to change something (as I believe there is here), we should be flexible! I do appreciate this discussion, as it's helped me to understand how things have developed on the pages so far. Mikeprichard (talk)mikeprichard
I do appreciate your willingness to learn, and I agree this should be discussed further! As outlined in the style guide, cities (like Windhelm, not smaller locations such as Darkwater Crossing) are the only places in the Skyrim namespace that are supposed to use "Quests Started Here" as their primary heading. To allow the discussion to get more traction/responses, you should post about it on the Community Portal, and we should wait a bit for consensus before editing any more places to have the header. Style Guide changes require community consensus, and the Community Portal is an excellent place for people to find the discussion and weigh in. --MolagBallet (talk) 21:51, 15 May 2020 (GMT)
OK, I'll pause the edits for now, and will post there! I would appreciate it if we could hold off on any further reversions in the meantime, because this really was a lot of work, and I hope others will agree the new structure (which not only will align with the existing city pages, but also with how quests are correctly labeled across many other broader pages) is helpful. Thank you for your time! Mikeprichard (talk)mikeprichard
You're very welcome! I'll make a few revisions where they're needed, (For example, the Markarth side quest subheading and the merging of "Side Quests" with the "Divines" quest was a welcome change, but the distinction between the Forsworn quests and the other side quests is a bit important considering that things change in-game when you complete them, how you complete them, etc. The Divines subheading was unnecessary.) but I'll respect the formatting pages that have already been altered. MolagBallet (talk) 22:12, 15 May 2020 (GMT)
I'm really sorry we're ninja-ing each others edits! However, re: the "Forsworn" title and other edits, please note that I've just completed a broader review of a couple dozen individual location pages as well as the main Skyrim "Quests", "Side Quests", and "Miscellaneous" pages, and before today, there were many (many) inconsistencies across those pages in terms of how quests are categorized, starting logically from the main Quests page. I've therefore relabeled all quest headings on the location pages to appropriately align with the "Quests" page list, which itself is correct to in-game journal data. In these examples, neither the "Divines" nor the "Forsworn" are separate factions with their own quests labeled with unique knotwork in the journal, but rather relate only to general "Side Quests". All of my changes align with this process. So, I would appreciate a discussion here (and I'll keep to the same) if you see anything else. As for the "Quests Starting Here" label, I'm about to post on the Community Portal about restoring this to several pages where it had been removed before, but please don't revert those changes just yet either, as it will break a lot of links on other pages. I frankly didn't realize how actively these specific page headers were being monitored, or I would have posted on the community portal first before going to all this trouble - but I do feel my edits will improve both the accuracy and convenience of the site! Thank you again for taking time to discuss.
As a final FYI (apologies for the many messages today!), I've posted my proposal to the appropriate Style Guide discussion topic at UESPWiki_talk:Style_Guide/Place_Layout#Categorization_of_Quests. Thank you again! Mikeprichard (talk)mikeprichard

Hello again! Great work on the Skyrim city/town/settlement pages today as you began to structure the pages' quest lists under the new main header "Related Quests" followed by the two new subheaders "Quests Starting Here" and "Other Quests". I reviewed your pages, and continued your work to ensure these headers are included in this format and order for all such pages. I think this is a convenient way to organize and find relevant quest info; thanks again for your time and work. Mikeprichard (talk)mikeprichard

Good evening! I'm glad that we were able to reach a consensus on the issue, and I agree that the way it's organized now is more convenient. I appreciate all the work you've been doing, and am thankful that you brought the issue to light. Thank you for your efforts, and have a great rest of your day! --MolagBallet (talk) 04:17, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Portrait[edit]

Hello!

I believe there's a portrait of Rada al-Saran within Greymoor Keep if i'm not mistaken. If possible, could you perhaps take a screenshot of that? Thank you for your time. — Unsigned comment by The Oldest Ghost00:56, 15 June 2020 (UTC) (talkcontribs)

Good evening! I can absolutely do that.
We have an image of that same painting being viewed in a furnishing preview on Online:Gallery Furnishings/Paintings, but I imagine this request is for the lore page, so an image of the portrait in Greymoor Keep would probably be more appropriate. I'll be sure to nab one! --MolagBallet (talk) 01:04, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Missing Image[edit]

Hi Molagballet! Just a heads-up that one of the images you added to Online:Tigonus (namely ON-place-Tigonus 03.jpg) isn't appearing for some reason. -- Wolfborn (Howl) 21:35, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

Date vs Game[edit]

I noticed that you changed a couple of my additions from the date they occurred to the game that they occurred in (2E 582) to ESO. is this how it should be going forward? Retroambassador (talk) 21:31, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Yes. Usually, the games (rather than the year) are mentioned in the notes of a page if a specific location appears in another game. For example, you'd say "(place) appears in ESO under the name of/as (eso name)", or simply "(place) also appears in ESO". There's nothing wrong with putting down the year per se, but mentioning the game the location also appears in instead of what year the game takes place in is done for consistency. -MolagBallet (talk) 22:03, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Quest dialog transcription[edit]

I saw that you fixed some of the dialog transcription i did with a ".lang" file what is that? is there a way to extract quest dialog from the game and is it faster to use that or is it faster to transcribe by hand? — Unsigned comment by Retroambassador (talkcontribs) at 22:59 on 30 August 2020

The .lang file contains every spoken line of dialogue in the game. It's not organized by any means that are coherent to us, so you'll have to search for keywords using Ctrl+F. The file is located here. To download the most recent version of the lang file, click on update-27pts or update-27pts, then select lang.zip from the list it brings you to. It's a pretty large download, so make sure to take whatever measures you need to make that easier on your bandwidth. Extract the .zip file and open en.lang.csv with whatever text editor you feel most comfortable using. I use my computer's default Notepad application for this. Once you're in, Ctrl+F, type in a part of the sentence you're looking for, search for it, then copy and paste the line onto the page. I hand type most player responses, but use the lang file for NPC dialogue.
Keep in mind that the names of some quest items, places and NPCs (when referred to in dialogue) may appear as "(<1>)" or "<<A:1>>". If you're having trouble finding a line, try searching for the first, last or middle half of the sentence, whenever a character, place or quest item appears in a line of dialogue. You usually don't have to type much unless the part of the sentence you're typing is super generic (such as searching for "Thank you" as opposed to "Thank you for saving us"). -MolagBallet (talk) 23:12, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

Blood Twilight[edit]

Hi! In Blood Twilight's page you wrote that "[it] is [...] summoned by Talfyg after he steals some of Gwendis's essence", so I just wanted to ask when Talfyg steals an essence of Gwen? Because I personally didn't saw it in the Castle Thorn, as well as my friends, and I wasn't able to see it in any dungeon walkthroughs I watched. — Sphinxmoth (talk) 17:05, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

I put down what I thought I saw happening on the pts. It's been a few months, but I think I recall a red glow occurring when Talfyg's fist connected with Gwendis's everything, making the "essence/blood" connection in my head. If the description is inaccurate, feel free to change it. --MolagBallet (talk) 17:41, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for answer. — Sphinxmoth (talk) 19:03, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
