Esbern WIP[edit]

Just've had your WIP stamp on the Esbern article since September 23rd. Are you still working on it? Not that I'm trying to push you or anything. Just a friendly reminder :) --Xyzzy Talk 02:16, 14 January 2013 (GMT)

Hey Xyzzy. Yes, I plan to work on that article; don't know when I'll resume though. Thanks for the reminder. I've been busy with school recently. (Realise that my daily edits have gone down since the new year xD.) I'll try to work on the article more, even if its little by little, when I got time :) ~ Psylocke 14:25, 14 January 2013 (GMT)
Hi Psylocke. You're slowing down has been widely noticed, and missed. But of course take care of your school priorities. For the Esbern page, do you want me or someone to put some quotes in those boxes, at least temporarily? Is it ready to get moved after that? --JR (talk) 01:43, 24 January 2013 (GMT)
Nihao Psylocke. Still working on Esbern? Just some useful information for you, here. Hope you like it. BTW, I'm a Chinese, too~ Dreamshadow (talk) 03:58, 16 April 2013 (GMT)
I noticed you haven't made any edits to the wiki in over 3 months, Psylocke. Are you still around? If not, your WIP tags will be removed. Hope you're doing well. --Xyzzy Talk 16:40, 12 May 2013 (GMT)

() Hello people. Sorry for disappearing and keeping quiet for many months. I was very busy with school, writing term papers and studying for exams and such, so I couldn't afford to spend any time editing then as I didn't want to get addicted again xD Also, to the several users who emailed me and tried to keep in touch, sorry for not replying to your mails! Anyway, another semester is over and holidays are here. I guess I can resume editing a little. Well, at least until school starts again in 2 months. ~ Psylocke 03:17, 7 June 2013 (GMT)

Azura Image[edit]

You might be aware of the current nomination of your image here. Don't take my vote the bad way, it's great, it's just that it's wrong for its kind. Therefore, would you happen to have the original bmp screenshot and could you upload it as a 4:3 image, under a new name (SR-place-Shrine of Azura 02)? Considering that page is a stub, that image would be perfect for when it gets expanded. I even imagine it to be better than the current, I'm sure there's more aurora sky visible in that case. Let me know? ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 21:23, 30 January 2013 (GMT)

Welcome back![edit]

Hiya Psylocke! Just wanted to say welcome back. It's good to see your name on the wiki again. :D — ABCface 03:24, 7 June 2013 (GMT)

Sergius and Urag[edit]

Hey Psylocke, how did you manage to take the shot of Sergius and Urag talking in the Arcanaeum? I loaded a save that I made during Revealing the Unseen, and, as it is described in the bugs section of the Sergius article, Sergius visited the Arcanaeum between noon and 3pm - but he just walked by Urag all the time, wandering from chair to chair... Oh, and welcome back! :) Holomay (talk) 10:19, 8 June 2013 (GMT)

I would also like to know. Not even increasing the random conversation chance to 100% makes a difference. By the way, it's good to see you around again! --Roger (talk) 15:16, 8 June 2013 (GMT)
Hey guys, Sergius really will not talk with Urag? I didn't use any saves to take the shot, I don't have any. Krusty said in the requests page that it can be triggered in the Arcanaeum per the bug, so I just used console commands to bring Sergius there to get the shot. If they actually can't be seen talking, then maybe that small conversation can be moved to the bugs section altogether. ~ Psylocke 01:11, 9 June 2013 (GMT)

Wipsandbox Notice[edit]

Hey there! This is a courtesy notice to let you know that your wipsandbox-tag on the article Skyrim:Esbern has been removed, as per this message. If you still want to work on the article, feel free to re-add the tag, but please consider that the tag prevents other editors from improving the article. If you have unfinished work in your sandbox, you can add it to the article – but please add the {{incomplete}}-tag to let other users know where you stopped. Thanks in advance! --Krusty (talk) 20:36, 2 July 2013 (GMT)

Image naming[edit]

As you probably already noticed, I renamed your image. I know the image is meant mainly for Sabjorn's page, which is all fine, but images should still be named after their subject. It does mess with the numbering you had, maybe there'll be another Sabjorn image, one of him in jail perhaps? ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 10:07, 1 September 2013 (GMT)

Hmm.. really? I thought images are usually named after the article they're used on, like what I see Krusty has been doing, such as on Skyrim:Skald, Skyrim:Arniel Gane, and Skyrim:Thonar Silver-Blood, to name a few; I'm sure there are others. Well, I'm not too particular of what names I give to my images. If you think some are wrong, go ahead and rename them. ~ Psylocke 10:38, 1 September 2013 (GMT)
Giving NPC Story Images the correct names is a tricky one. Personally, when I request an image, I’m requesting it for a specific article, and not for anything else. Whether it is an image of a mud crab or an NPC, it’s an image taken for that article – and I think it should be named as such. For now, we have an image called Mallus Maccius_02 (or whatever it was changed to), which is unused on his own page (and it could remain unused forever), messing up the numbers on Mallus’ page, while we have an unused number on Sabjorn’s page. It doesn’t make sense at all – but I’m not sure we can ever find a fully satisfying solution. My suggestion is that we just give them names based on the request – and if they appear on the NPC’s own page as part of some makeover, it’s quite easy to rename and change links. --Krusty (talk) 21:15, 1 September 2013 (GMT)
I don't understand that reasoning. If one were to look for images of an NPC, they'd type in their name and see what comes up. If you're naming images after the page they're used on, you'll likely miss them as you search for them. Images are often used on more than one article as well, so you can't name them after two different articles. I believe categories cover the pages they're used on. It's absurd to name an image after something that's not in even the picture.
Anyway, about Sabjorn, there's space for another image next to the jail text, and an image of him in jail would be perfect, and that one can be named 'Sabjorn 02' ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 00:25, 2 September 2013 (GMT)
This isn't related to the naming of the images, but just so ya know, it's not necessary to add images that are from the Image Requests page onto an article like you did here. In fact, the Image Requests page specifically states that the user who requested the images is the one that's supposed to place them on the article. Just for future reference. — ABCface 00:32, 2 September 2013 (GMT)
Maybe it's just me, but it's Dwarfmp's reasoning that I don't quite get; I understood Krusty's explanation fairly well. When you say it's absurd etc, and images should be named after their subject, is that an opinion, a policy, or an assumption? Well, I can also say it's absurd to name an image after its subject, but won't be used on the subject's page at all, like what Krusty mentioned. Furthermore, these images are usually 4:3 versions of the 1:1 intro images (examples on the three articles that I linked above), and hence they presumably won't ever be used on the subjects' pages.
This argument can probably go both ways, but I'm leaning more towards Krusty's approach, and I'll upload images as such for now. If you wish to offer opinion or suggestion, I would appreciate it if you frame it in a more friendly way. I believe it carries less chance of sounding condescending, and is more likely to promote healthy collaboration.
Anyway, about your suggestion, yes, I can get an image of him in Dragonsreach. Shouldn't be much of a problem. ~ Psylocke 17:07, 2 September 2013 (GMT)
I'm not sure it's the way we want to go, but there's always the option of image redirects to cover off both the subject's name (for possible future use) as well as the article name. Personally, I tend to side with Dwarfmp, but as Psylocke says, I can see both sides here. Robin Hood  (talk) 20:51, 2 September 2013 (GMT)

() I don't understand why suddenly the way we do things is changed. And by that I mean: I don't know what goes on in your head, Krusty. We've always been doing it like that, just take Sheogorath for example. You've never mentioned anything on that, in fact, some of them were even named by you. If we're going to be a consistent wiki, let's just stick to what we usually do or start a discussion and change all the past work. As far as I'm concerned, this new trend started with Delphine. Articles change, sometimes images get replaced with other images. Naming images after what they actually are makes sense to me, not how they are used, because their usage varies in many cases. Then you say the numbering is wrong, next thing you say it's easy to rename -> so rename them? If you're saying we should only rename Sabjorn to Mallus if it's used on Mallus' page, then who knows how many times we have to rename images because they are used on their own page later as well? It makes much more to just name them as they should be named to begin with, so we wouldn't have to rename them later, because Mallus stays Mallus whether he's on his own page or another's ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 01:18, 3 September 2013 (GMT)

I really like your image of Fjotra from The Heart of Dibella quest page! I think it's neat to see the Forsworn Briarheart from Fjotra's perspective, inside the (still locked) cell. It's the little touches...

Nightingale Bow Image[edit]

As the person who took all the other Nightingale images, I would have of course taken the image in the same way were it feasible to do so. The Nightingale Bow might very well be the single longest item in the game, and can't be captured in an efficient manner within the inventory. The only alternative to that image is explicitly requesting it from someone with an extremely high resolution (Kimi the Elf has a pretty amazing one, if memory serves), as they might be able to get it in frame correctly. Otherwise, it'll have to stay. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 15:29, 5 November 2013 (GMT)

I would have taken the image myself, but I have not done item images before, which is why I slapped on that {{CleanImage}} tag. I don't see anything disadvantageous or detrimental to letting the tag remain. ~ Psylocke 15:51, 5 November 2013 (GMT)
Because the image isn't in violation of any site standard for images. It messes with a set of items a bit, but that's a more minor issue. The image technically doesn't need cleanup in any true way, as it is fine as it is. Wishing to improve what is an entirely acceptable image does not mean it gets marked as not being up to site standards. Requesting a retake is acceptable, but it does not actually need to be cleaned up. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 16:00, 5 November 2013 (GMT)
True, it's not violating site standards; it's an item image which is perfectly 1:1 and high resolution; it's entirely acceptable. But that doesn't mean that it cannot be improved. Just because something is within acceptable standards doesn't mean that it is cut off from further improvement. The wiki is a collaborative effort. I tagged that image as part of the image cleanup project as I can see that the image's background can be improved, i.e., like I said in the "other" parameter, it can be taken from the inventory screen and with a better background. This will also be consistent with other item images, which are taken from the inventory screen, and is what the wiki favours - consistency.
There are other images which are also perfectly in line with the site's image standards. This place image is perfectly 4:3, very high resolution, high quality, but it is still tagged as requiring cleanup with the "other" parameter, since its minor issue is centering. This NPC image is perfectly 1:1, very high resolution, but it is also tagged as requiring cleanup, since its minor issue is the angle. According to your explanation, these images (and many others) shouldn't have a cleanup tag since they are not violating anything. You yourself said that the bow image still has a minor issue; doesn't that mean it can be improved further?
Sorry for this argument, but I just don't see the logic in your reasoning and also why you have expressed that you are against using a cleanimage tag. If you're still adamant, then I suggest requesting a better image on the image requests page, or with whoever you think can obtain a better image. ~ Psylocke 16:54, 5 November 2013 (GMT)
Both of those images are in violation of image standards. The first one breaks the guideline the subject should be centered. The image of Pelagius fails to fully capture as much of the subject as possible, and has an extremely peculiar angle. With those two things, they both require genuine cleanup. My image does not. It is centered, the background is alright, it is the right aspect ratio, lighting is fine... You don't mark an image as needing cleanup because you simply want a better version, but because there are genuine issues with it that need addressing. I personally don't mind the image as it is, and as only a very small handful of people here could take the image the way you want it (I guess you could alternatively stitch it together or freeze the object in a similar pose you'd get with the inventory and taking it that way, but that'd be a pain), it does not need to be changed. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 17:05, 5 November 2013 (GMT)
Okay, I agree with what you said. The two images were hastily chosen to be brought up here. However, thanks to that, there are problems which I would like to point out on your image. Here are my sticking points to the argument:
Regarding the bow image, the background is not alright, and the lighting is off. According to the image guidelines (since we're all quoting the standards now), make sure the subject of your image is clear, pay attention to your background, and try to avoid bright lights such as fires or candles in the background of NPC or item shots. Due to the lighting in the image, the focus of the image is more on the background than on the bow itself. Also, the explicit details of the floor are clearly visible. The image was taken with lighting effects from torches and whatnot, causing the floor to be brightly lit, and creating a more distracting background. This is due to the fact that the image was not taken from the inventory screen, which would give the blurred and dimmed effect on the background, hence bringing the object more into focus; this is why I tagged the image, as from how I see it, it could genuinely use a better background, as I noticed that it isn't consistent with other images of weapons in this category when I was browsing through recent changes. ~ Psylocke 17:30, 5 November 2013 (GMT)

() I don't see a difference in background or lighting quality in any of the images. If you want it to have the same background as the others, create a request as I originally asked you to do so (and then told me to do it instead for some reason). As of now, only a single user comes to mind who could "correct" it, so it's an entirely unreasonable standard considering the situation that I have explained in detail now. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 17:58, 5 November 2013 (GMT)

Seriously? You don't see any difference in any of the hundred over images? Never mind then. I have pointed out that the background can be further improved, and I also pointed out there is absolutely no harm or detriment in leaving the tag on, but since you are dead set against having the tag on, I guess I'll stop arguing further with an administrator. ~ Psylocke 18:08, 5 November 2013 (GMT)

Volunruud vs User:Biffa/Sandbox/1[edit]

Hi added your great images, thanks for those, these are my first placed, so can you have a look to see if I've done them correctly, I copied the format from Bleakfall Barrow interior images. Also there was an image of the word wall already on the page, but I think it looks sleeker/better with just the two, but don't want to arbitrarily remove another persons work. I've copied the walkthrough to my sandbox/1, see which you think I should go with. Also once that's done do I remove the whole image request from the image requests page? Thanks for all your help. Biffa (talk) 21:57, 27 November 2013 (GMT)

To answer your first query, yes, I think the article looks fine as it is now with the two images. As for the image requests page, once each of your requests for a particular article have been fulfilled, you can go ahead and remove the entire post from the page after you have added the images to the article, per the page rules. ~ Psylocke 06:08, 28 November 2013 (GMT)

Irgnir's House Image[edit]

Hey Psylocke, if you look at the actual page for Irgnir's House, you'll see that this is indeed in Dawnstar, not Solitude. :) •WoahBro►talk 14:07, 1 December 2013 (GMT)

Disregard that, I think I'm going crazy... •WoahBro►talk 14:08, 1 December 2013 (GMT)
Lol. It's okay to make mistakes, WoahBro. I'm guessing you just mixed up the left and right panels of the diff page. :) ~ Psylocke 14:25, 1 December 2013 (GMT)

Bloodlet Throne[edit]

Hi Psylocke,

  • If I could have the flamethrowers firing if possible please as want to label it A Warm Welcome.
  • If possible can you do the arena with the boss at the top preferably sat down and the death hounds behind the spears for the label "Let the Games Begin"
  • The image of the huge cavern, I can see what you mean, but I think in full view the fogginess in the distance adds to the overall effect. So I'm really please how that's come out.

Sorry to be a pain! I adore your artistry Biffa (talk) 02:21, 3 December 2013 (GMT)

Hey there, Biffa. To answer your questions:
  • The flamethrowers image can be done easily enough. I'll get to it right now.
  • The arena image, as it is now, is exactly how you requested it to be. Maybe it's a caching issue.
  • I'm glad you liked the cavern image! ~ Psylocke 07:46, 4 December 2013 (GMT)
Now I'm sure I'm going mad, when I look at both the flamethrower image and the arena image as thumbs or full screen they still show the previous images, but if I then click on them a third time they both change to exactly the images I wanted? Would that be because they have the same names as the previous images or something? Sorry for all the confusion. Biffa (talk) 18:53, 4 December 2013 (GMT)
That's usually a sign that the page needs to be purged on one or more of our servers. I'll see what I can do, but my Internet is being extremely unstable right now, so I may or may not be able to help. (Done now for all three images and the Bloodlet Throne page itself. Let me know if that fixed it.) Robin Hood  (talk) 21:25, 4 December 2013 (GMT)

Colour Chart[edit]

Hi Psylocke! Just FYI, I've deleted my colour chart that you were linking to on your user page. I see you've already got a Wikipedia one, but the one I've decided to link to from my own toolbox is this one which is basically the same as mine was, but with some additional information. In the interest of removing the red link, though, I'll just delete the link to mine and re-alphabetize according, since it seems silly to preserve an unlinked "B" and I don't want to insert a link that you didn't choose yourself. Hi welcome back..[edit]

Hiya, Welcome back. Just to highlight I've got a separate sandbox here with requests for images for Skyrim and Dragonborn. There is a link on the standard request page, it was done by request due to the release of ESO and also the shear volume of requested images I have. I've sorted then by hold and had positive feedback from people who've fulfilled some of my requests, but would value your input. I hope you are doing well and are in the mood for imaging. Cheers. Biffa (talk) 13:29, 17 July 2014 (GMT)

Hey there! You're still around! Nice to see a familiar face. Well, keep the requests coming; I'll fulfill those requests for you. I'm definitely up for an extended photoshoot. :) ~ Psylocke 14:44, 17 July 2014 (GMT)

Images by hold[edit]

Hiya, how do you feel about the image requests being listed by hold on my page, does it make it easier/harder/no difference? Cheers. Biffa (talk) 12:07, 24 July 2014 (GMT)

Well, to me, it doesn't really make a difference. My job is to just go to a place and snap photos; it doesn't really matter where I'm going. For you maybe it helps, as you can categorise your requests and make them more organised. ~ Psylocke 13:19, 24 July 2014 (GMT)
