Welcome[edit]

Hello Vincentius1! Welcome to UESPWiki! It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games on the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! —Legoless (talk) 07:35, 14 July 2016 (UTC)

Edit summaries.[edit]

I believe it would be nice, not only to patrollers, but to some of us other curious readers too, if you could be as kind as to remember to add an edit summaries, telling what you have done? —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:17, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Thank you very much, I just did the Shimmerene page, and I'm gonna do Alinor next. I'm going to do Corgrad Wastes after that and hopefully, we'll get everything done. --Vincentius1 (talk) 14:40, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Non-fiction crafting motifs[edit]

I may be wrong, but if I am not, a heads up to you:

I am not sure where it was, and my brief search now did not help me finding where it was, but I remember a discussion about the difference between the fiction story crafting motifs and the non-fiction ones. Since I did not find it, I can not confirm if there was any consensus to leave the non-fiction crafting motifs out of the compilation of fiction story crafting motifs, but if it was, you may wish to find it and take the discussions up again before adding more non-fiction crafting motifs. —MortenOSlash (talk) 09:04, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

Okay, thank you for letting me know. I thought the page was meant to list all the Crafting Books in general. --Vincentius1 (talk) 15:11, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
Unfortunately I did not really pay attention to the discussion, so I am really not sure, but as most of the newer motifs have been removed again soon after they have been added, I believe there was reached some sort of consensus on what to add or not. Looking at the edit history it seems to me there was not necessarily divided by fiction story and non-fiction. Dwemer and glass seems for some reason to have been accepted. —MortenOSlash (talk) 18:01, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

References[edit]

Hi Vincentius. I know its hard to keep everything right when writing big articles, but can you please remember to give all your references in lore a name parameter. Every single one of them is supposed to have one, and we also have a standardised way to name them to help other editors in the future use the references you have added at the initial stage. This section on the lore policy page has examples of what I mean. Thank you. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:34, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

Hey, Most of your recent lore additions still have the wrong naming format. Can you make sure you are using the correct standards when adding information. In addition, as I've mentioned on discord, the tense that should be used on the lore pages is purely past tense. So saying "This place had become a major city", you should say "This place became a major city". Using the phrasing "Had become" is wrong in this instance.
Also, I'm not sure how relevant to the place articles information about the viewpoints of single individuals who happen to be from there. For instance, is it really important to the city of Corinthe, that one person at one moment of time argued against necromancy, and just happened to be from this city? Just because I'm from the US, for example, doesn't mean the entire US believes what I do, regardless of how famous or prominent an individual I am. Jeancey (talk) 15:24, 22 May 2019 (UTC)

Vegunthar Chrono-Walker[edit]

I really like the callback to the Word Wall mentioning Vegunthar :D. I thought about adding a mention of him too when I did my Ysgramor story, but left it out. --Jimeee (talk) 13:57, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Thanks! I really like your Ysgramor series, it's part of the reason why I made my Ra'athim one. --Vincentius1 (talk) 14:13, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, its cool that stories almost overlap in some parts. Wish I had time to write more though! --Jimeee (talk) 14:39, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Stormhold[edit]

Hi Vincentius, I noticed you undid this revision in relation to the chronology of the events of TES Travels: Stormhold. We have to be careful when giving any kind of chronological order to that game's events since it gives us no reference date, but the general presumption is that it takes place in the Third Era due to the city being run by the "Empire" (presumably Septim Empire given its release date of 2003). Placing it after the events of the Fourth Era makes little sense given that the Fourth Era did not exist as a concept back at the game's release. As such, our general rule of thumb is to insert it between Morrowind and Oblivion (i.e. release order) while keeping the actual text vague enough to maintain the source material's ambiguity. —Legoless (talk) 23:42, 5 August 2019 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for the input. I moved it to the bottom as my way of putting it to the side, from the chronological order, since there isn't a discernable timeplacement. Also so that the fourth era bit wasn't just a one sentence paragraph. But if that's the concensus, then I'll work by it. --Vincentius1 (talk) 02:11, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
