Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
To begin this quest chain, head to Heron Hall in Narsis' Foreign Quarter. Go upstairs and speak with Ereven Baryl about Orders. He will tell you about a Dunmer woman downstairs causing a fuss about something, and he wants you to make her leave, Llaris Uval. Apparently it's a "jurisdictional issue" which means if you do help her, it's gonna be outside of Imperial Legion backup or territory and you cannot let anyone know the Imperial Legion is involved if you kill someone during this quest.
Head downstairs and speak to Llaris Uval about herself. You have 2 options: Tell her to leave with under 80 Disposition:
- If you tell her to leave, she will refuse and will stay where she is at.
You can use Persuasion, and then tell her to leave with over or equal to 80 Disposition:
- She will say: Fine. I can see that the oaths of the western men are taken lightly, and mean nothing more than wind, if you would uphold your Emperor's order instead of his law. I'm leaving. And she will leave.
- Go back upstairs to Ereven Baryl and the quest will be over, and you'll be rewarded with 100 gold.
However, if you tell her to continue talking about the issue, she will tell you that her husband was murdered by the Camonna Tong. When you ask for more information, she'll say that her husband must have uncovered something related to House Hlaalu's plans or something, because the Camonna Tong killed him. She says Narsis' guards won't do anything about it because she believes all of the guards are on the side of the Camonna Tong.
You can tell her you need to speak to your superior first, which you can do, but nothing happens until you actually agree to help her, and then go back to Ereven Baryl and ask him about the rumor of husband was killed. The frustration is evident with Ereven:
Let me get this straight. Instead of reporting it to a superior officer, or doing any independent investigation to verify her claims at all, you just told her that we'd take care of the matter? His death was a tragedy, but it is out of our jurisdiction, <Imperial Legion Rank>. At least it was, until you dragged it onto my desk. So here's what you're going to do. March to Canyon Keep. Find Andres Hlaalo. Get his report. And then come straight back. Go.
And that's just what you're going to do with this route. Walk out the doors across the room from the stairs on the first floor so you're out into the Foreign Quarter proper, and go forward and exit the walls of Heron Hall, then turn left and go through the foreign quarter to the Purple Road, the "fancy" paved road between the Foreign Quarter and the northern quarters of Narsis. Follow the Purple Road all the way to the northwestern edge of the city where it leaves the city, and enter the building to the left of the archway, that's Canyon Keep.
Head straight upstairs and Andres Hlaalo is the Dunmer man to the right of the other Dunmer in robes at the top of the stairs, next to the table.
- If Andres has < 80 Disposition, he will just say that Llaris Uval is just overreacting, the Camonna Tong is a fairy tale, and Renaryn Uval's death was an accident. He says to take what he says back to your commander.
Upon going back to Ereven Baryl, he will say he is finishing some paperwork, and to go tell Llaris Uval that the investigation is closed on Andres Hlallo's account. On telling her that her husband's death was an accident, she will say:
And that's official now, is it? No matter how much I wail and tear out my hair fighting for the truth, you can wave your piece of paper and tell me there's nothing to be done. Then there's nothing to be done, I suppose. I'm leaving.
Go back to Ereven Baryl to wrap up the quest here. He says to follow your orders better next time.
- If Andres Hlaalo has >80 Disposition, he will tell you who is responsible for the death, and that is Drovas Uvaril, in the Waterfront Sewer Hideout. He says also: If you intend on meting out your own justice, do not let it be in uniform. This is very key, so if you are using any uniform mods, make sure to drop them before entering the hideout room as well as any other Imperial Legion armor you might be wearing at the time.
Head straight back out the door you came in from, walk down the Purple Road a bit until you get to a roadsign and follow it straight east to a stairwell. There's a boat next to the stairwell, use it to hop across to the lower portion of the river walkway on the edge of the river, and follow it around until you see an entry square on your map right next to the walkway, in the river. That is the entrance you wanna use here, so hop into the water and go into the Narsis, Sewers: Waterfront North door.
When you enter the sewers from here, you'll immediately see a Khajiit named Asabah. There are no real fights down here, just a few rats, and none of the NPC people down here will attack you before the Hideout. Follow the path to your left when standing at Asabah, and you'll eventually enter a room with a shelf unit and a crate. Move forward and enter the right-hand pathway. You'll come to another room with a Dunmer standing in it named Nalvas Hedoren. However, keep moving forward over the little bridge, through the passage into a more open tunnel. From here it's over the little bridge straight ahead and go into the passage straight ahead from there. The door will be labeled Narsis, Sewers: Waterfront Hideout.
If you do not want to be expelled from the Imperial Legion and have a much harder fight in this next room, remove all Imperial Legion armor and items relating to the Imperial Legion uniform, such as the Imperial Legion Badge from the Imperial Legion Badge mod. If you don't know if something is related to the Legion, just remove it and set it on the ground outside.
Now that you're undressed from all your Imperial Legion equipment, lockpick the door and head inside. (Key location unknown) Talk to Drovas Uvaril. If he mentions anything about you being an Imperial on talking to him, you're still equipped with something Imperial Legion related. The line he uses when he sees you as a random person is:
Get back to the city proper, n'wah. Down here, all sorts of things can happen to careless outlanders.
Ask him about husband was killed and he'll say: He sure was. You came down here so I could show you how I did it? and he will begin combat with you on the dialogue box closing. You can leave the room and pick up your stuff again, and make your way back out of the sewers. (If you enter the room equipped with IL stuff and talk to Drovas, the other 2 people in the room will also aggro you alongside him, and you'll fail the quest at Ereven Baryl and be expelled from the IL.)
No point going back to Andres Hlaalo, he has nothing for you, so go straight back to Heron Hall and speak to Llaris Uval and tell her, Your husband was killed by Drovas Uvaril. She will express the utmost gratitude, and give you a ring from her now-dead husband, Renaryn Uval's Ring and says you can tell your commander the outcome here, and that she's leaving.
Heading upstairs to wrap up the quest, talk to Ereven Baryl about Llaris Uval. He'll say:
You did well, <Imperial Legion Rank>, all things considered. I can't reward you formally, of course. But you can have a drink on me. And next time, follow my orders exactly as I give them. And he gives you a bottle of Sujamma.
(There is a point after getting the information from Andres and not going back to Ereven and instead just going straight to killing Drovas Uvaril will get you the ring, and Ereven Baryl thinks you just sent Llaris Uval away without doing anything, getting you 100 gold.)
