No separated shirts and pants[edit]

What's the potential impact on modding? Seems like it's a step backward and creative combination of upper and lower parts is not possible. 01:41, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Anyone else not able to enchant the Ancient Nord Amulet? I can see it at the enchanting table but nothing can go on it. 16:52, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

I dont think the impact on modding will be significant, but it will force player to have to create custom clothes as one piece which may look better. I think that it is a step backwards in one sense, but they needed to do it to optimize gameplay . . . creating more individual pieces for clothes will probably be something that returns in future games, so I am not going to get my panties in a wad over it. 00:04, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
Its like the Fallout Games. One outfit covers the body, much like how Skyrim is going, except Skyrim has gloves and boots as well.--Dro'Bakha 01:02, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
In an interview it was explained that merging leg and torso clothes permitted displaying more NPCs at the same time. TES is getting more streamlined but I don't think it's a step backwards as it also improves the appearance and consistency of armor. Also, in Oblivion I would not have my mage wear robes because I would lose one enchanting slot, and now I don't have to worry about it.-- 17:20, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
If we're talking vanilla Bethesda could have made the model one whole texture if it would help performance and it wouldn't matter whatsoever to the player; for the most part players don't care how the technology is implemented only the results of such efforts. However, this discussion is about modding thus the requirements are completely different. If this behavior is not alterable its definitely a step backwards for mods that implement custom clothing because the clothing optimizations are only necessary for consoles where there are severe memory limitations. Since mods will likely only appear on PCs its a moot point implement such limitations. The main issue for mods is texture duplication. Every combination of top and bottom will need its own separate texture unless it can be scripted to merge two textures in real-time; but such a function implemented in script will likely degrade performance and impact gameplay. Of course, the real impact on mods will not be known until the creation kit is released later in January.
EDIT: On a side note, the PC version appears to ship with the same very low res textures that put it on par with its console counterparts. Its a shame because repacking hires textures for the PC would have literally taken Bethesda 5 seconds-- the time needed for select a different res during export. But then again they did state they wanted every version to look the same (for better or worse) 10:52, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Random Items?[edit]

Do all the items on this list randomly spawn in containers? 08:19, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Missing items[edit]

Where did some of the items (like Greybeard's Robes and Arm Bandages) go? — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 10:45 on 13 December 2011

Yeah I'm wondering too. I've never seen any grey robes or gilded bracers. In fact, I've never seen any gloves aside from the brown one and the Thalmor ones. It's sad for mages. 18:12, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
There's still the mythic dawn gloves, though I've only found two pair and one is flagged stolen. You can't get your hands on them till you hit level 20 though. If you play on pc, I think I read someone is working on a gloves reskin to go along with there Noctrernal arch Mage robe reskin. — Unsigned comment by Artemis Enterei (talkcontribs) at 08:24 on 23 December 2011
Clearing stolen flags: sell to a fence, buy item back. 04:31, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Executioner's Gear?[edit]

This can be seen on a couple of NPCs- earliest on the guy who almost beheads you during the intro. It's listed under clothing with IDs and everything, but is this something one can actually obtain without being on PC? I tried pickpocketing Ahtar with Perfect Touch, but his clothes were not eligible for theft. Can these be found anywhere/on anyone? I'd love to wear them on assassination gigs. 18:07, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Unobtainable Items?[edit]

I would be nice if someone could make a note next to which items you cannot get without using PC console.Kimi the Elf 00:34, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Executioners gear and other clothing, armor, and weapons are marked/flagged unplayable, thus not obtainable nor equip-able without console or modding (ex. greybeard robes,Nocturnal's robes, ect.) — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 10:13 on 31 December 2011
Half of the items under clothing are unavailable without console commands it seems. Red, green, and brown robes and theit hooded versions aren't available and the page should mention that. 16:50, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Brown Robes?[edit]

Anyone know exactly where you can find Brown Robes? 13:09, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

I've played this game quite a bit and I've never come across any brown, green or red robes. Someone needs to provide an explanation where these items are and if they can be equipped by the player or I'm taking them off as they don't seem to exist in the game. 16:39, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
I'm going to visit some clothing shops and start a list in a new column on the main page of places that some of those items can randomly be a part of the wares for sale, unless someone has a better or more efficient way of checking that or objects to it in some other fashion. 04:31, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Muiri's ring?[edit]

Why is Muiri's ring here? It has an enchantment. --Jabies 12:42, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Armor or Clothing ?[edit]

The "Gilded Wristguards" were recently removed together with "Fine Armguards". The former were later re-added again. Both of this seem to profit from the "Light Armor" skill (after a quick glance at the game data, no testing done). So shouldn't they be put under Light Armor on the Armor page instead ? --Alfwyn 01:28, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

I've moved them to Specialty Gear. I'm not sure why my script put them here in the first place. I also checked all the other items on the page that have an armor rating and confirmed that all of the others are indeed clothing. --NepheleTalk 17:49, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Incorrect Info[edit]

This page has wildly inaccurate information. Apparently, the weightless varieties of Shoes, as well as Vaermina Robes, all provide a (minimal) Armor Rating. That's not the case. I checked Radiant Raiment, and found 2 varieties of the 0-weight shoes. Neither had any Armor Rating. As a further test, I started the quest 'Waking Nightmare' to check the Vaermina Robes. Again, no Armor Rating. I even tried unequipping my normal armor, then equipping the Vaermina Robes. No dice. Frankly, I don't think anything on this page that the player can normally obtain has an Armor Rating. Swk3000 23:10, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Just in case it makes any difference, I'm on the 360. Swk3000 23:11, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
Hm, those values can be found in the game data. Then again Tes5Mod:Mod_File_Format/ARMO claims that in the case of clothing (BODT) there is no armor value - which makes me wonder why a value is included in the data. But yes, I too don't see any armor value ingame for the "Vaermina Robes" (0x00065b94) or "Psiijic Robes" (0x00065b94) both showing a rating of 8 on this page. Equipping and unequipping doesn't change the armor rating shown for my character. --Alfwyn 23:29, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
I placed a note at the start of the article for now. It may be we don't want to show the armor column for clothing at all, since the numbers found in the game data are just ignored. Or are the values used in some way, when NPCs wear clothing for example? --Alfwyn 19:42, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Pictures ?[edit]

I was wondering what the feasibility of adding a small thumbnail for each of these items would be? It would certainly help weed out the ones I'm not interested in rather than do tons of adding/removing with the console, and thus perhaps also help others. If those files are already uploaded somewhere on the site, perhaps add a link somewhere? 22:24, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

Matching boots for the Novice/Apprentice/etc. robes?[edit]

I was wondering if these can be found anywhere other than on Vigilant Tyranus or given to you during the First Lessons quest for the College of Winterhold since I'm making a pure mage character and would like to obtain a pair of these boots without getting too far into any of the major questlines. If anyone knows more locations where I can obtain these boots, I would be very grateful if they could reply to my question. Thank you and have a nice day. 00:15, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

A pair of boots like Tyranus wears (0x0006b46c) can be found for example at Angeline's Aromatics or Arcadia's Cauldron near the counter. Those are owned and must be stolen. --Alfwyn 20:45, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
The ones sitting on the counter in Arcadia's Cauldron are free for the taking after you have completed a delivery quest to her from Farengar. EmmBee 08:03, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Jarl's Clothes[edit]

Are the jarl's clothes obtainable since most jarl are essential? If it is obtainable, where can I find them?I already know where you can have the noble clothe. — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 20:48 on February 23, 2012

I had sided with the stormcloaks in the civil war and finished it. After that I went down to the blue palace basement and tried to kill the jarls to get their clothing, but they were still essential. Once I get a high enough pickpocked level and perks I'm going to try to steal their clothes. Evlydia 05:48, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
No matter if you have Perfect Touch or not your unable to get the Jarl's clothing as it doesn't show up in their inventory. The only one you can get is Ulfrics and that is after you end the civil war with the Imperials. --SPMcKinneyTCE 16:05, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Tavern Clothes[edit]

Ok, so apparently from what I read to believe from this website and various forums is that the tavern clothes are only available with use of console commands or Hex editing... Well I found a pair on a dead bandit behind the bar at "liars Retreat". So for all you people who have been searching for them, there you go. I know it sounds kinda sketchy but I am telling the truth. 05:52, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

What you've read in forums appears to be incorrect. In addition to the one you found, there are 8 NPCs who wear the outfit as well. It's possible a couple of those are unkillable, and one of them is most definitely a ghost, but I wouldn't be surprised if you could kill or rob the remainder to get the tavern clothes. Robin Hoodtalk 05:26, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
(PS3 user) There is also a respawning set of Tavern Clothes in Castle Volkihar Keep. They are sitting on one of the open wardrobe shelves in the balcony area above the "dungeon" (containing the human cattle cages) amongst a number of other discarded clothes, shoes and robes. I played as a member of the Dawnguard, so it needs to be verified whether they are still there if a player joins the vampire faction. Like many other items in the castle, they are "owned" and are marked as stolen. MrC (talk) 22:10, 21 March 2013 (GMT)

Pickpocketing Robes[edit]

I've noticed that even with the "Perfect touch" perk (100 pickpocket) I cannot pickpocked certain robes off of npcs, namely the hodded monk robes (trying to get them off of my spouse Senna). Is there any confirmation as to whether this should work or not? If it is not supposed to work perhaps this should be added to the main page? I've tryed pickpoketing the robes off of other npcs like Temple priests with the same results. Apod 23:49, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Hold on. It looks like certain people like Anwen in the temple of Dibella can remove her hooded monk robes. I still would like to figure out why certain people can't. And, yes, I am completely hidden when pickpocketing them. Apod 23:57, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
You can't pickpocket essentials. Senna is essential but Anwen is not. The Silencer has spokenTalk 23:59, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Clothes problem[edit]

Is it possible to temper the clothes? I don't know, most likely not, but it would be cool if possible. -- 23:52, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

It's not possible. Only items that are marked armor can be tempered The Silencer has spokenTalk 23:54, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Two Rings[edit]

Don't know if it's a one time glitch or a legitimate bug, but after accidentally using the 'Ring of Recuperation (20% stam regen) I found i can equip another ring in addition to it. Can anyone else duplicate this? or find other rings that don't take up the slot? If i use the Recuperate ring first, any additional ring used just replaces the 2nd ring. but if used 2nd, it replaces any other ring... D521talk 00:43, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Edit: It seems that you can equip any pre-enchanted randomized ring, along with any other ring. Both 35% sneak, 12% Destruction, and 20% stam, all stacked with any other ring equipped - - similir to the circlet/helmet glitch. D521talk 15:39, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Ancient Shrouded Cowl[edit]

Has it been verified that the Ancient Shrouded Cowl can be worn with circlets by Khajiit and Argonians only? A recent edit claimed this, but I can't find it. --XyzzyTalk 18:04, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

I put it into the article at the start, on a Khajiit save I can confirm it can be used with any other circlet. IF someone has a non-beast race can they confirm/deny this for sure? On the current update of the CK it takes up both slots on all races, so either it's been patched or there's something we arn't seeing here... D521talk 18:34, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
A user named Roteran stated that this didn't work with his/her "humanoid" (I assume this means human) character. We just need someone to confirm this. --XyzzyTalk 20:00, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
My Khajit character can wear the Ancient Shrouded Cowl and the Nightingale Hood at the same time. This is more powerful than wearing an additional circlet because both cowl and hood add to the armor rating. I started a discussion at Skyrim_talk:Unique_Items. Perhaps Skyrim:Ancient Shrouded Cowl should be a separate page? Thundre (talk) 06:59, 4 October 2012 (GMT)
Following the discussion at Skyrim Talk: Unique Items (Hood plus Cowl) takes us to Skyrim:Circlet#Circlets, which states "The Aetherial CrownDG, Wedding Wreath, and all Dragon Priest Masks occupy only the "circlet" body part slot, and can therefore also be worn simultaneously with any of the above-listed bugged items." This does not technically answer our original question, but instead hints that all races have this ability, leaving us wanting further additional testing and verification. Consider this a bump! I would be happy to do the testing if I had the time. :) --GodRaine (talk) 03:22, 22 February 2013 (GMT)
On the PC I just retrieved The Aetherial CrownDG last night [March 5, 2013] on my Khajiit and equipped it. Immediately my Ancient Shrouded Cowl was removed. I also tried a Circlet of Eminent Alchemy to see if it may just be an issue with the Crown. At no time was I able to equip the Cowl and a circlet at the same time. --Aerdrie (talk) 16:54 6 March, 2013 (GMT)
The Ancient Shrouded Cowl being wearable with a circlet by beast races is due to a bug with the underlying item (it was not assigned the necessary ARMA records). This is fixed in the Unofficial Skyrim Patch. --Technogeek (talk) 18:00, 7 March 2013 (GMT)
When the bug is working, you have to put the cowl and circlet on in a certain order for it to work. One would take the other off (I forget which), so it mattered what order you equipped them in. One of the official patches got rid of this bug though. My khajiit was able to continue using the glitch even though it was patched, but a new game started after the patch would not allow it. It worked with 1 circlet and 1 shrouded cowl (normal armor or ancient armor). The cowl would be invisible, and the circlet would be visible. You got the perks of both and the inventory menu showed the equipped mark by both. My game was on XBox with auto-updating patches. Both were female khajiits. If I remember correctly, I think it only worked with the masked cowl and the bug had something to do with the mouth cover not working over the beastrace muzzle. 19:03, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Hearthfire Enables Red Robes[edit]

Hooded Black Robes... Where are they?[edit]

Okay, I've completed Hitting The Books. I've gone back to Fellglow Keep, newly remodeled with two strategic cave-ins. I've hunted for them in the Keep itself and in its dungeon. So... What circular room are we talking about here? -Malus X (talk) 05:54, 11 October 2012 (GMT)

Hmm...I'm not sure exactly where they are in the keep, but I know I found one on the Traveler you sometimes encounter with the Dawnguard expansion, if that helps. eshetalk 13:58, 11 October 2012 (GMT)
Not really, since I only have a copy of Skyrim on the PS3. Are we even sure the current information is correct? -Malus X (talk) 00:51, 13 October 2012 (GMT)
It seems to me that the location description "Found in Fellglow Keep, on a shelf in the circular room during or after the quest Hitting the Books" is inaccurate - the circular room is no longer accessible once Hitting the Books is completed, due to the cave-ins. It should probably be changed to "Found in Fellglow Keep, on a shelf in the circular room, before or during the quest Hitting the Books." Username12345 (talk) 09:44, 8 May 2013 (GMT)

Moth Priest Blindfold[edit]

Should the article state that this can't be obtained without the use of the PC console commands? Or is there a way to get it without them? JerZey CJ (talk) 14:07, 6 November 2012 (GMT)JerZey CJ

I noted it. Even if one adds that item to the inventory through console use, it will be invisible. One will need further console commands to equip and un-equip it. --Alfwyn (talk) 14:55, 6 November 2012 (GMT)

Mage Robes[edit]

I've come across an item called simply "Mage Robes", much like any other unenchanted robe. I don't see it on the clothing list though, and I'd like to find out where I can obtain another one? — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 16:29 on 6 December 2012‎

Those were definitely missing. It would need ingame confirmation, but according to game data one can be found in the East Empire Company Warehouse and Hag's End each. --Alfwyn (talk) 16:43, 6 December 2012 (GMT)

Gloves - Where do I get some?[edit]

I want to enchant gloves, so they don't take as much carry weight in my inventory. I can't find any gloves anywhere. Please help. Thanks--TheWerdow 17:19, 8 December 2012 (GMT)

Hunters always have gloves on them, so you can either kill them or reverse pickpocket some gauntlets onto them, come back and take the gloves.Wrath425 (talk) 21:03, 11 July 2013 (GMT)
There's a clothes store in Solitude, Radiant Raiment. They sell a huge variety of clothes items there, including gloves.

Wrong Picture[edit]

The middle "Mantled Robes" has the wrong picture next to it for the male variant (the novice instead of the apprentice), I would fix this myself but I don't know how to edit picture related things on this site. Also just a side note but I've noticed that when using the console to obtain Mantled Robes and Mage Hoods sometimes they don't appear in the color they are supposed to be, being the "novice" colored variant instead. — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 20:08 on 6 January 2013‎

Further info re Mask/helmet/Circlet glitch.[edit]

When I equip a Falmer helmet with a mask, it then let me equip another generic helmet which replaces the masks allowing me to where both ebony helmet and Falmer helmet simultaneously! both armour ratings are used and both become weightless with Steed stone blessing, I haven't been able to test whether both weightless with the heavy armour skill perk yet, will try and test and update, unless someone else can test this? Biffa 13:00, 3 February 2013 (GMT)

Further to the above it seems only able to utilise this with ebony helmet/falmer helmet combination. Still very helpful for Alchemy! Biffa (talk) 15:05, 23 March 2013 (GMT)

Monk boots?[edit]

I found a pair of "Monk Boots" with a randomly generated ID (ff000909), which seem to be the same ones that use a base ID of 000bacd7. We call them just plain "Boots" in the article, CSList calls them Boots, but they are labeled "Monk Boots" in-game. Shouldn't we be using the in-game label for this and any other cases like this? --Xyzzy Talk 15:36, 18 August 2013 (GMT)

If this was the case on an unmodified version of the game, I would agree that we should list it under the in-game name you are seeing. However, I used the CK to check a fixed location of the item with the baseID 000bacd7 and found that a guaranteed pair can be found in Radiant Raiment. So I loaded up the game on Xbox to check it out. The boots are only labeled as "Boots" when viewing them as they sit atop the cupboard, and when stealing them and looking in my inventory they are also labeled as simply "Boots". So something in your version of the game must be changing how they are named for you. — ABCface 19:40, 18 August 2013 (GMT)
I did a quick F3 search through the USKP changes (including UDGP, UDBP, UHFP, and UHRP) and didn't see anything that seem relevant. The only other mods I have installed are the Fall of the Space Core, Follower Trap Safety, and Dynamic Merchants, none of which seem likely to rename these boots. I reloaded my save from Last Vigil where I found them just lying on the ground next to a skeleton. They have a RefID of 108c55 before picking them up. Looks like these might be unique boots that use the "ClothesMonkBoots" base record. Not sure how to deal with them now. --Xyzzy Talk 20:21, 18 August 2013 (GMT)
This time I opened Skyrim on my laptop (have Dawnguard, Heartfire, and Dragonborn only, no mods whatsoever). I used coc POIFallForest28 to travel to that location and found the exact location of the boots you're referring to. Again, when on the ground, they're just labeled "Boots" and the same applies when looking at them in my inventory. One of your mods must be affecting this. — ABCface 20:54, 18 August 2013 (GMT)
Interesting. I'm going to run a new character with all the addons and the Unofficial Patches installed and nothing else to test something for Arthmoor. I'll check the boots as well. Thanks for looking. --Xyzzy Talk 21:57, 18 August 2013 (GMT)

Mantled college robes[edit]

The Novice and Adept robes show the same texture for the male model. I uploaded the correct texture here: File:RobesMageApprenticeM.png It does appear that you can directly add an image file to the table so I'm not sure how to fix it. Dbbolton (talk) 04:52, 14 March 2014 (GMT)

The image you uploaded seems to be a duplicate of File:SR-icon-clothing-ApprenticeRobes(m).png, but it is not really the texture used by the "Mantled College Robes" either. Those seem to use different alternate textures, not having the ornamental stuff around the neck. --Alfwyn (talk) 13:31, 14 March 2014 (GMT)

Circlet/mask glitch[edit]

I had Krosis and an oculatus (idk about spelling) helmet on and I still received the armor bonus from the custom fit perk. I don't know if this was because they are both light armor, or the statement saying it will negate those perks is not entirely correct. Tested on ps3. Can anyone else confirm or deny this statement? I0brendan0 (talk)

I can confirm this on 360 as well with those exact same items. On a different character using a falmer helmet and heavy armor instead, it did negate the perk bonus though. 14:50, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Novice Robes[edit]

Is there any explanation for why the novice robes featured here differ so much in cost from those (ID 10d667) in generic magic apparel? The latter are 30 times more costly but seem to have the same effect. I just wondered why the difference, and why there are two items which do the same thing - they have identical enchantments - and appearance, for such different costs? — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 11:34 on 3 January 2015 (GMT)

OK, this seems to be more complicated than it looked at first glace. CSList reports the cost values are correct, but the 0010CEE5 one listed here to have no enchantment. Then I took a look into the CK, and that reported a cost of 5 for both robes, no enchantment for the 0010CEE5 one, but it also says the one here is only found in the QAClothingJewelryContainer. The one that's found on the "dead mage in Helgen Keep's torture chamber during Unbound", as this page says, is the 0010d667 listed on Generic Magic Apparel, but this one is ONLY found there (except for an unused leveled list and a QA-container; according to the CK). -- SarthesArai Talk 15:26, 3 January 2015 (GMT)

StormySkies's edits - Movement of unobtainable items to unobtainable items page.[edit]

StormySkies seems to have made a couple of edits that remove items that can not be obtained in game "naturally" such as the Moth Priest Sandals, and moving them to the "Unobtainable Items" page.

The issue I'm having here is that it seems no-one's updated the links. I was trying to find the item code for the "Moth Priest Sandals" and it linked to this page - Of course those sandals are no longer here and on top of that there is no mention of them. Rather confusing.

I don't mind (and will) updating the links on the pages when I find them, but I felt the rest of the community would like to know.

The issue seems only to be with clothing from this page as things like weapons haven't been moved but rather copied - For example the "Giant Club" weapon links to the "Specialty Gear" page correctly, but its also got a place on the "Unobtainable Items" page.
