While near the conduit, it saps you of your health, magicka and stamina. If standing too long in the radius, it delivers a final burst that deals very high shock damage. Unlike the similar attack the boss uses, this cannot be interrupted, and has to be avoided altogether.

Captain Vrol, the second boss of Kyne's Aegis, also uses Sharpened Conduits, in the shape of electrified harpoons that he throws in the arena. Once in place, they tether and pull targets, while dealing them very high continuous shock damage.
