Betzi, as seen in a Hist-induced vision

Betzi was an ancient Argonian who lived in Hissmir. With aid from Jaraleet's wife, she investigated Hist amber and discovered a way to incorporate it into a defense system for Hissmir. Part of her life story is preserved in The Fruit and the Stone. Pilgrims to Hissmir must read the book as part of the Trials of the Burnished Scales, a local tradition wherein worthy pilgrims are rewarded with an opportunity to commune with the Hist using refined Hist sap.

Quest-Related Events[edit]

During Dreams From the Hist, the player-character consumes Hist sap and relives three memories from the mind of Jaraleet's wife. One of these is a conversation with Betzi, where the two finally activate a Zaht stone:

"Years of work, and it all comes to this. I almost don't believe it."
Of course. I prepared the Hist amber. It's ready for you.
"You should be the one. You communed with the Hist, refined the amber … placing the Zaht stones was enough for me."
Then I'll rouse Hissmir's true power. It will work, Betzi.

After the player activates the Zaht stone, Betzi exclaims:

Betzi: "It worked! Oh, and it's so beautiful. I must tell the others!"
