Image[edit]

I'm sorry if I sound demanding ;), but I was just wondering if it would be possible to obtain an image of the Uderfrykte Matron with the Frosted effect*. Because of the glitch, the Matron has been fully invisible in most of my experiences, while finding it with the Frosted effect has been rather rare (it has had the frost effect with only one of my characters) meaning it might be tricky to get a screenshot of the Matron like this. I think having an image of the 'Frosted' Matron would be good because it is a truly unique effect that no other enemies in the game bear.--Willyhead 09:46, 12 January 2008 (EST)

*Frosted effect: Makes the Uderfrykte Matron appear partially invisible with an icy glow emitting from inside it (the icy glow appears visually similar to a detect life spell except with a light blue glow rather than a purple one).

I've had no luck either. I've either had it fully visible or full invisible; no frost shader at all. –RpehTCE 10:44, 12 January 2008 (EST)
To be honest I've only ever seen the Frost effect once and it is a pretty nice effect. Every other time it's been invisible (makes it trickier to fight!).--Willyhead 13:33, 12 January 2008 (EST)
I found this[1] image on the internet. It isn't perfect but it shows what the Matron looks like with the Frost Shader effect.--Willyhead 15:57, 12 January 2008 (EST)
I get a blue and white icon with an error message in Japanese. Those texture editors are really branching out, eh? :p –RpehTCE 19:21, 12 January 2008 (EST)
Ah... doesn't work for everyone then. Don't worry it wasn't a very good image anyway.--Willyhead 06:45, 13 January 2008 (EST)
I guess it's just a version of "No linking to this from other sites." I could see the image after copying and pasting the URL, so there is no referer tag. --216.31.84.57 04:59, 20 February 2008 (EST)
Aha! I found a youtube video of the Matron with the effect right here.--Willyhead 09:12, 3 February 2008 (EST)
Everytime I have seen the Uderfrykte Matron it has looked like a larger version of a normal troll. After reading this page I have discovered that the frost shader is the original form. --Matthewest TCE 04:56, 3 May 2008 (EDT)

i always get the frost one, never seen the fully invisable one or the troll one — Unsigned comment by 24.150.92.115 (talk) on 27 May 2008

The uderfrykte matron is only invisible if your a higher level and is not invisible if your a lower level.... — Unsigned comment by The Hist (talkcontribs) on 5 October 2008
I've marked this as a Good Question for now, even though it isn't a question. Does this depend on level? My experience is that it's to do with the direction from which you approach, but it could use checking. –RpehTCE 12:21, 5 October 2008 (EDT)
Good Question removed. It's nothing to do with level. I just tried on level one and got the invisible version. Tried again from the east and got the visible version so what we have on the article is correct. –RpehTCE 04:33, 16 November 2008 (EST)

I have just this second been fighting the matron and I had a strange thing happen. I began fighting the Matron and the frost effect script was working. I ran away and eventually the Matron lost me, however I fast travelled back to Dive Rock and the Matron was right there in the camp fully visible. I then tried this test again and the Matron was back to the frost script effect. --Manic 21:05, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Running Away[edit]

Ok, so I tried to kill the Uderfrykte and failed miserably, so I had it chase me to the Imperial City, and I was running towards the waterfront district and when I got their, it stopped following me and ran away. I was wondering if it goes back to Dive Rock, or just the wilderness?--Kaito 18:40, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Assuming it doesn't get killed along the way, it should eventually make its way back to Dive Rock. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 03:58, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Svenja's Remains[edit]

Not sure if this should be moved to the miscellanius Items page bet eh, did'nt want to clutter that up. When I dropped the 'remains' I got two right legs and two right arms. is this normal? The WurmTalk 00:22, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes totally, it was mentioned but I had a run-in with someone. I am restoring it now.--Corevette789 00:23, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Hang on, on this page no, it is on Oblivion:The Horror of Dive Rock--Corevette789 00:25, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Uderfrykte[edit]

Could somebody cite the source of this creature being a "probable reference to Grendel's mother"? The word, spelling, Uderfrykte appearing to be of Germanic origin and the Beowulf Saga being Danish. The word Frykt is Nordic meaning troll. See http://no.wiktionary.org/wiki/frykt Sniffles 01:20, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

I think it would be somewhat hard to find a source that mentions this reference to Beowulf. The problem is that Beowulf is such a well known story and very old. It's likely to have inspired a lot of fiction. There are similarities here that make it seem somewhat unlikely that this is a coincidence. Uderfrykte did smash up the mead hall, as Grendel did smash up Heorot. There is the same hunt for the mother of the beast after the beast is defeated.
Having said that, I do agree that "probable reference" is plain bad wording. "Inspired by" is not the same as a reference, which I think is more valid wording in this case. --Timenn-<talk> 11:12, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

will the corpse of the matron remain there forever?[edit]

Creatures corpses almost always disappear but just wondering if "special" monsters like the matron will disappear. If not I want to move the monster somewhere, like maybe to the top of dive rock or something. — Unsigned comment by Piercethetruth (talkcontribs) at 21:34 on 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Edit: No, the corpse will disappear, tried it myself. DTM 22:51, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
Corpses will stay if a creature is marked as a Quest Item. The Matron is not. --DKong27 Talk Cont 03:59, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

So, what is it?[edit]

At is the Uderfrykte Matron? Where did it come from, how did it get here, and how and by who was it created? I know its from Skyrim....it is a monster OBVIOUSLY....but I mean specifics. LukaSlayer13 05:54, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Everything we know about it is either here or on its Morrowind page. --DKong27 Talk Cont 15:28, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Wrong link?[edit]

The link in the notes sends you to the Dive Rock quest, but no info about the refernce is found there... Why not be sent to the Bloodmoon:The Udyrfryke-page? (Sorry, havn't learned to link...) MrL 21:30, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

I think it's because the creature in Oblivion is actually the mother of the Udyrfryke in The Mead Hall Masacre quest, not the same creature. The one in Oblivion is not the Udyrfryke, it's the Udyrfryke Matron. Kitkat1749 21:51, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
I think the link originally led to further info on the Easter egg. I've removed it, as the current version of the quest page doesn't even mention it. --Legoless 22:34, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
