Odd Things At The Tiber Septim Hotel[edit]

Has anyone ever encountered any random objects in the Tiber Septim Hotel? On two separate occasions with two different players, I found a live deer and later a dead skeleton. If I reload outside the inn and re-enter, they are still present. I'm not sure about the skeleton, but the deer disappeared after a while, perhaps in a month.

Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this or if anyone might know the cause (I'm on the 360). Thanks. Dio 225

Yes. I currently have a dead slaughterfish in the middle of the floor. It's been there since the start of the game and shows no sign of going away. I just assumed it was a conflict between some of my mods. Are you running the game clean? Rpeh 03:22, 14 June 2007 (EDT)
It's apparently the dumping ground for any NPC or creature whose cell has disappeared. It's become particularly noticeable in my game since one of the mods adds archers who keep falling off the battlements, so every now and again I find a delegation from various city watches leaving the hotel. Someone even reported a painted troll materialising and causing havoc.
On an unrelated note, I'm surprised that nobody's commented about the ownership of the bed in the rented room being screwed up so you can't sleep in it; I've had this occur both with and without mods and between fresh installations, so I assume it's just an oversight.--Cbh 16:17, 14 August 2007 (EDT)
It's not just where the cell has disappeared. Things can also appear in here if they have spawned or otherwise found themselves inside another object - for example, the archers Cbh mentions.--Gaebrial 04:16, 4 October 2007 (EDT)
I just had a Dark Seducer show up... odd. Glad its not just me. 72.205.58.186 21:27, 7 July 2008 (EDT)
Yes the same thing happened to me it took me forever to kill it without it murdering everybody at the inn Jay480 18:29, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
So did I. I had just finished the second to last stage of The Helpless Army. I went back to Cyrodil and started working on a companion mod. I entered the Tiber Septim and the Dark Seducer started to approach me. The reason for all these details is I wonder what the common link for the bug is. I cannot think of any Dark Seducer falling off my map (ref above) but I may have missed one. I wonder if it might have something to do with running a mod and/or being at a particular point in a stage quest; but this is mere speculation. 69.134.194.182 01:21, 13 September 2008 (EDT)

() it happend to me too but a bit differently i killed traelius at dire warren and he fell into a rock wall and disappeared i didnt think much of it then after awhile i had to go to the tiber septim and when i got there i noticed his body it was strange but kinda cool--LuciusZelgius

This is all explained already. See the first note about the game's "Safe Zone". –RpehTCE 01:06, 17 November 2008 (EST)
That explains a lot. I thought it was strange that a heretic would randomly show up and decide to attack me. The deer is kinda cool, though :O Scxe 11:50, 15 April 2009 (EDT)
I was greeted by an Heretic Watchman who summoned a scamp then got pwned by a gaurd Emoboy64 19:02, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
I've had the Heretic Watchman as well. XBox 360, no mods apart from official plug-ins. ComaDivine 09:27, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
My problem is i have a Preist of Order in the Hotel, and cant enter any more without him killing more people due to his ability to revive. There isn't even an obelisk i can deactivate to kill him. (I had to reset the shivering isles to cure my vampirism due to the quest bug with Bloodgrass.) TheTom959 09:34, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
I have got a Preist of Order and 3 Dark Seducers in the Hotel. I am playing on PS3 Goty Edition. That is annoying because i cannot kill him and he kills other hotel guests.--78.134.149.50 22:51, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

() I see the skeleton in the hotel as well. I'm doing the Lonely Wanderer quest for the dark brotherhood and it is telling me that Faelian is the skeleton on the ground. WTF? — Unsigned comment by 66.216.249.141 (talk) at 16:33 on July 5, 2011

Just as it says above, the Hotel is a "dumping ground" of sorts for your character and NPCs. They are put there when they drop out of their cell or it disappears. This is a technique used by Bethesda to keep the game from crashing on you when this happens. That should be the answer to all of the strange occurrences posted above, mods or not.--Kalis AgeaYes? I found a deer in the Tiber Septim as well. I was completely surprised. Nikofeelan 16:08, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
I had a dark seducer escort following me in the S.I's but it couldn't follow me to Cyrodill but when I got arrested in Cyrodill and sent to prison it appeared the next time I went to the T.S hotel and started attacking the NPC's there...79.97.40.245 21:21, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

I was doing the Dark Brotherhood quest where you must kill Faelin, and there was a *Painted Troll* in the hotel believe it or not. I had completed the Brush With Death quest a long time before this happened, and it's not part of any mod or addon so no idea why this happened. The troll attacked me and the barkeeper, we both ran outside and the troll followed, finally the city guards killed it. True story :) Onca747 (talk) 07:21, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

I'm curious how the mechanics of the "safe zone" work. I've seen all manner of vanilla creature (and people have seen even more, apparently) as well as NPCs from mods whose cells probably had not "disappeared" (although may have had problematic meshes). What are the common denominators of these "lost creatures/NPCs"? The only characteristic that I know from my experiences, at least for NPCs, is that they all seem to be from the wilderness area near Skingrad, near Goblin Jim's cave (at least among not heavily modded cells--beyond placing the NPCs). — Unsigned comment by 76.93.91.225 (talk) at 20:13 on 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Multiple rooms can not be rented out to one person[edit]

Is this line necessary, I mean, doesn't it apply to all inns. I know thats what the innkeeper says when you select "bed" when you already have a room, but then we might as well say Moslin's inn does not offer refunds or Jerall View inn has a luxurious bed, because thats what their respective innkeepers will also say when you select "bed" with a room already rented. The sentence makes it sound like in other inns, you can rent multiple rooms, but you can't in Tiber Septim Hotel. --TheTamrielTerror 09:11, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

You're right. That page has annoyed me for a while so I just rewrote it. Fixed now! –RpehTCE 05:12, 22 June 2008 (EDT)

Teleport ?[edit]

So could you leap off the wall of a city to get back to the Imperial City instantly then ?--TheAlbinoOrc 19:31, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Nope, if you leap of the wall of a city you end up in a cell with very bad graphics, but you are not send to the TS. It only applies if you're in a cell created by a mod and then you delete the mod i.e. you're in Deepscorn Hollow and then you delete it, you will probably end up here. --MC S'drassa T2M 19:36, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks.--TheAlbinoOrc 23:19, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Probably? Why doesn't that happen with the Frostcrag Glitch? IF this can be reproduced somehow with a follower, Since it's mostly SI stuff, I'm thinking it might be possible to get the saint\seducer escorts out of the isles. Datacaust 23:42, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Can you savely deposit stuff in there?[edit]

Id like to know if i can savely depost there my stuff whidout i lose it all. thank you and please respond — Unsigned comment by 213.93.77.192 (talk) on 24 April 2010

No. See Houses for a list of locations with safe storage. rpeh •TCE 15:13, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

/* Removed from article */[edit]

After completing the Shivering Isles expansion main quest a random heretic or zealot may appear in the hotel lobby.

I need someone to confirm this.--Iamgoofball 00:57, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

See the section above. It can happen, but that's what the "safe zone" note is about. rpeh •TCE 07:06, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
