Possible to complete the Pilgrimage and not have visited all 9?

I've visited only 7 of the nine way shrines and the quest log activated the vision. Seems that on the PS3 version I need only visit any 9 wayshrines. And not it's not a mistake, when I go into the chapel I couldn't get 2 of the blessings cause I had yet to visit any of their shrines. Will this affect the game play in the long run? — Unsigned comment by 220.255.7.181 (talk) on 24 January 2009

What I noticed is that visiting a shrine during the quest only gives you the message that ypu need to continue your penance and such, but does not give you the ability to re-get the specific blessing in a chapel.— Unsigned comment by 80.57.13.185 (talk) on 7 April 2009
If your infamy is greater than your fame, then you are unable to use any of the altars in a chapel -- visiting the wayshrines doesn't change that. Furthermore, if you have any infamy when you complete the pilgrimage, then all of the altars are reset at the moment that your infamy is reset to zero. Therefore, after losing your infamy you will be unable to get any of the specific blessings in a chapel, unless you visit the wayshrines yet again. I suppose that's intended to be the penalty you suffer in exchange for being "washed clean of your sins". I'm guessing that's what happened with the original poster: he/she did visit all 9 wayshrines at some point, but then checked the available blessings after his/her infamy had been erased and all blessings made unavailable. --NepheleTalk 21:18, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

Really Weird

In the game I had talked to the guard and the prophet in anvil to start the quest and everybody in the game kept saying that the church was a bloody mess. So I walked in and all I see is blood and I had seen on this site that there should be body's laying around but there was just blood. What the hell happened and how do I fix it? My guess is that I didn't go in the church soon enough and more than three days passed since the quest started itself and so the bodies would've been there if I got there sooner? — Unsigned comment by 76.254.123.183 (talk) on 3 April 2009

Yup. The cell will have reset and the bodies removed. It's not important though and you don't need to "fix" it. –RpehTCE 06:46, 5 April 2009 (EDT)

Help?

I was testing out a console command: "Completequest ndpilgrim."

its completed the quest but I cannot start the next one or even get the vision...Any ideas? please help.--Repeater 12:18, 12 May 2009 (EDT)

Never mind, my apologies, I looked up the ID of the next quest and used Setstage to start the quest, sorry for any trouble--Repeater 12:22, 12 May 2009 (EDT)

Something screwed up with shrines

I got the quest, did the 9 shrines and but the quest did not update. Thought maybe I missed one. Decided to come back later. Then at some point I got 1 infamy, don't know from where. Went and did all 9 shrines again, carefully checking the names of each and marking them off in my notebook where I had written them down. I still had the 1 infamy after going through all shrines. Now when I click on ANY wayshrine it says "Seek greater fame to be judged worthy" (my fame is 64). This is weird because I can get a blessing from all nine of the chapel shrines as if Everything was great. I also checked and I have the pilgrim's grace power as well. Quest has still not updated and stuck with 1 infamy.

You're right, that's odd. The first thing I'd do is make sure you're checking one of the shrines on the map. At least according to the article page, it's possible they won't show up if you're not at one of those shrines (though I'll have to check that in the CS at some point, cuz that sounds fishy). The second thing that occurs to me is that it might not have installed correctly. Try uninstalling KotN and re-installing it. Finally, it could just be something messed up in your current game and maybe it'll just never work, though if you're using a PC, you may also want to install the Unofficial Official Mods Patch and see if that fixes the problem.
It's a really sucky way to narrow it down, but you can also try starting a new game, and immediately visit all nine shrines around Skingrad as the very first thing you do when you get out of the dungeon. If it works in a new game, that'll narrow things down. Post back if you have any more details after trying all this and if you're still having problems, I'll see if I can help you further. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 00:43, 14 June 2009 (EDT)
Having the same problem with the quest not updating. Not one of the wayshrines I visited showed up in the quest log, and after the last wayshrine I didn't get the vision, though I did meet Roderic, also got the greater power. I eventually just went ahead and used setstage to go forward and the vision worked and the quest went forward. Now the chapel shrines don't work anymore. I made a new save game before I used setstage just to make sure, and if I don't use it the chapel shrines do work. To my knowledge I didn't gain infamy at any point, but I might be wrong... And also I get the "more fame" message if I try to visit the wayshrines again. I'm going to try fiddling with load orders etc. but if someone knows what's going on from experience, please do tell. EDIT: Found the problem. I used TES4Edit and found that Arena Loot 1.2 overwrited the shrine scripts. Moved it in front of Knights.esp in the load order, problem solved. --jubs— Unsigned comment by 212.149.136.229 (talk) at 13:36 on 23 September 2009

Two Talos Shrines and No Mara Shrine

According to my map there is a talos shrine and a mara shrine however when i go where the mara shrine should be it says talos.. when i go to the talos shrine on my map that too says talos... where is the mara one?? — Unsigned comment by 70.161.1.70 (talk) on 17 June 2009

There is a Talos Shrine very close to the Mara Shrine detailed on that map. You probably visited the wrong one. See the map for the precise location. --Timenn < talk > 07:10, 17 June 2009 (EDT)

help me out

i saw the vision of the crusader and i got the helmet from his shrine then it told me to head to this pryory to see if the armor was still there and i can't find anything what do i need to do

Try reading info on the next quest. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 16:39, 22 June 2009 (EDT)

Seek Greater Fame

I am having the same problem getting the "seek greater fame..."

I have fame of 201 and infamy of 9.

I can pray at all the altars, only not at the wayshrines. — Unsigned comment by Al K Hall (talkcontribs) on 11 July 2009

If you're getting that message then KotN isn't installed properly. KotN no longer requires an increase in fame before you can use a wayshrine again. –rpehTCE 10:46, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
It worked fine for a long time, but I have added several mods lately, and now I get the message. I believe on of the mods is causing this, but I have no idea which one. — Unsigned comment by Al K Hall (talkcontribs) at 12:16 on 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Could you provide a list? Elliot(T-C) 12:16, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Of the mods I added after completing KotN, probably not, unfortunately.— Unsigned comment by Al K Hall (talkcontribs) at 12:20 on 12 July 2009 (UTC)
It is most likely caused by a mod you added. You might want to remove some and test to see if you can find the troublemaker. --Elliot(T-C) 12:20, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
I was hoping there was an easier solution, but if that is the only way... — Unsigned comment by Al K Hall (talkcontribs) at 12:37 on 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Are you sure you haven't disabled KotN by mistake? Check the list of active mods, or just check that the Priory of the Nine is still there. –rpehTCE 12:44, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
KotN is active, NPCs call me 'Holy Crusader' and say "I used to think you were...", the Priory is there also. — Unsigned comment by Al K Hall (talkcontribs) on 12 July 2009

We don't comment on call. You are unwilling to go through your mods list or provide any additional information. We are not psychic. Until you provide us a list, we cannot do anything. And please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~), we have had to sign 5 of your comments in a row. --Elliot(T-C) 14:21, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
It must be a mod conflict. KotN definitely changes the scripts on the wayshrines so something is changing it back again. Use a tool list OBMM to move Knights.esp down your load order and try again. –rpehTCE 14:23, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
@reph,
Moving Knights.esp to the bottom of the load order fixed it! Thank you very much. Al K Hall 13:14, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
If you're using the Unofficial Official Mods Patch (UOMP), you need to have that after knights.esp in the load order. If you aren't using UOMP... you should be! Glad to get this cleared up at last. I just hope it doesn't mess up one of your other mods. –rpehTCE 14:14, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
I have never heard of UOMP, where can I get it? Al K Hall 21:59, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
It's the Unofficial Oblivion Mods Patch. --Elliot(T-C) 22:06, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Just type UOMP into the search bar on the left and you get an explanation and links. --GKTalk2me 22:07, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Possible Glitch?

I'm playing Oblivion on the Xbox 360 and have Knights of the Nine,Shivering Isles,Battlehorn and Frostcrag Spire installed.

Specifically Knights of the Nine seems to have a glitch or error involving the Pilgrimage. I had to re-visit each shrine, my infamy is at 37, to continue the quest, but I re-visited each shrine only to be told the same phrase involving continuing to repent sins etc.

I've re-visited the wayshrines several times, even some not on the wayshrine map (but always started those listed and then visiting others). I've no idea how to reset my infamy. Anyone got any ideas or have had a similar problem?--MegaDocDoom 20:59, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

I got the same glitch I only have vile lair, shivering and Kotn SGG Caboose 22:17, 2 January 2010 (UTC))

Uninstall the Plug-in then install it again this is probably whats wrong.--VergilSparda 15:41, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Damm Have to do it again! SGG Caboose 22:17, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Yep! :D--VergilSparda 13:15, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh well, I just started it again and the first shrine I prayed to I got the vision. Weird SGG Caboose 22:17, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Yeah thats normal too because you've already visited all the wayshrines and have the power of pilgrims grace so you need only visit one wayshrine i'm sure its on the page: Pilgrimage--VergilSparda 22:38, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Well At least it saved time. SGG Caboose 23:44, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Instant Death Glitch

Im playing the 360 version of this and when I get the whitestrake vision as he walks away from me I die. I cant prevent it in any way so the quest is impossible to complete. My character is level 40 and has completed the thiefs and dark brotherhood quest lines so my infamy is pretty high(65) could that be the source of my problem. I have completed the quest line before(went to anvil immediately after tutorial) so I know it isnt a problem with the installation or something like that. Does anyone have any ideas on hot to fix it and shouldnt bugs like this be added to the article itself?— Unsigned comment by 90.240.149.61 (talk) at 23:08 on 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Uninstall the plug-in and then install it again it might just be a small dowloading error. This Happened to me when i downloaded the Shivering isles because my hard drive wasn't in the xbox properly, check that the Hard drive/Memory Card is in properly when you download the KOTN again. And its not your infamy because my Infamy was 300 odd and it managed to do the pilgrimage--VergilSparda 14:52, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Two Stendarr Shrines and No Julianos Shrine

I have the PS3 version, and the Julianos shrine has been replaced by the Stendarr shrine. But the weird thing is that the other Stendarr shrine is still there, and even if I go to to the one that is supposed to be the Julianos shrine, it still updates my journal like i just did the Stendarr shrine, but when I go to the other one it doesn't do anything. Any advice anyone?

Prophet Dies

I downloaded the Knights of the Nine on XBOX 360 and went to do the pilgrimage quest when i got the prophet he is dead on the floor with blood around him. I think it could be that i have an infamy of 100 so when he saw me he might of ran to attack me and the guards killed him. but the weird thing is he is marked as an essential character so i dont see how he can die. any help or suggestions! — Unsigned comment by Septim-Slasher (talkcontribs) on 9 April 2010

Ummm, are you sure that's the prophet and not someone from the Anvil Chapel? --SerCenKing Talk 10:56, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

HELP

there is no mara shrine instead there is a diffirant 1 i did it on five separate accounts and its still not working its irritating me as its one of the main quests any suggestions??

Nothing on the map.

I assume after talking to the prophet and getting his "map", locations of the wayshrines are supposed to be on the game map?

They are nowhere to be seen. Anyone have this issue? — Unsigned comment by 68.3.110.254 (talk) at 04:26 on 7 October 2010

The Wayshrines will not show up on your in-game map - you are supposed to use the map given to you by The Prophet - which basically means opening it again and again. --Krusty 05:40, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Notes

Do we need to document the open cities thing, it being a third party mod and all?

Sir Roderic and Lathon

It says that they appear at the last shrine I visit, but they showed up on my 5th. Roderic said he wanted to follow me, yet he does not. Will this affect my game? as I have not finished visiting the wayshrines — Unsigned comment by 68.32.87.2 (talk) on 13 February 2011

No, meeting Sir Roderic has no effect on the game besides introducing him before he dies. --AKB Talk 03:18, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Moved notes

  • If you have an older Open Cities Mod loaded, you will not get the Prophet to appear in Anvil. Updating to version 1.6 or higher (which has a patch for Knights of the Nine compatibility) will fix this, disabling the Open Cities plugin will get the prophet to appear, or use the tcl console command and use the door embedded behind the wall to the left of the Fighters Guild entrance. This takes you to the normal, closed version of Anvil, where the Prophet is.
  • In the main bedroom in the Anvil chapel hall is a conjuration skill book 2920 Frostfall v. 10.

I've been moving the notes for the quest pages. Feel free to re-add these after leaving a message here explaining it re-addition. --AKB Talk 17:00, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Does stealing give infamy?

I wish to continue robbing houses but, as a divine crusader, i am unsure if stealing adds infamy points.--Iamgoofball 23:18, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

As far as I know the only thing besides quests that give you infamy is murder. --AKB Talk 23:33, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Other than quests and the Grey Cowl, you can gain infamy from your bounty. Note that it is only your bounty, not actually committing crimes. I don't know for sure the exact infamy per bounty gain. --DKong27 Talk Cont 00:45, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
As long as you don't get caught, you can do whatever you want. Legoless 00:48, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
I always thought if you got caught stealing then your infamy will go up. And of course murder , quests , etc... JackTurbo95 08:53, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
Theft doesn't give you infamy, but murder does. rpeh •TCE 09:46, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Reward

I have a question, is it really appropriate to list getting "Pilgrim" as a title for the nine divines faction as a reward? I only ask because you technically get it from STARTING the quest, not from completing (or being towards the end of the quest). Then again, it wouldn't really fit anywhere else. Also, I noticed that I also got Knight Errant for the Knights of the Nine faction after this quest, is this gotten AFTER this quest, or from the start of the next quest given immediately after this quest? If it's after this quest that it's given, it should be listed as a "reward" as well. 70.121.201.71 21:32, 8 January 2009 (EST)

As you say, it wouldn't really fit anywhere else, and it is a benefit obtained as a result of the quest. Although mistakes on the quest page further confused the issue by stating that you get the rank at the end of the quest. And you're right that all of the other Knight of the Nine ranks should also be listed consistently on the quest pages. I've tried to fix up all of the rank information: they're now all listed as rewards of the respective quest (in the case of Knight Errant it's actually at the very start of the next quest -- splitting hairs perhaps, but the script that gives you the rank is part of the next quest) and the quests should all provide correct information on when you actually get the ranks. Thanks for pointing out the problems. --NepheleTalk 19:29, 12 January 2009 (EST)

Floating in mid air but no vision of Pelinal

Hi all,

Having a strange problem. I completed the KOTN Pilgrimage quest by visiting all the shrines. At the last shrine I heard the booming voice (yadda yadda "worthy heart"), I'm transported into the clouds, and then... nothing. No Pelinal vision, no speech, nothing. I'm just stuck there. Can't move, can't open the map to fast travel someplace else. Even advancing the quest using the console does nothing but throw up the end quest dialog. I'm just stuck up there in the air.

This did work on my first play through.. no problem. However, this time I do have some different mods (PC version, obviously) installed. A bunch of them in fact. I'm guessing it's one of these causing the problem, but I'd like to be sure before I start ripping them out and risk losing my save games.

Has anyone heard of this happening before, and was a cause identified? Any help would be appreciated.

JD
