Reverse Pick-pocketing[edit]

Question: If you reverse Pick-pocket a bound helmet onto him, does he respawn another black hood or does he remain alone in his no black hood ways?Drake3555 22:57, 2 June 2008 (EDT) Never mind. I tested and he doesn't--Drake3555 19:25, 15 June 2008 (EDT)

Silarian?[edit]

In Grewyn's journal he mentions a Dark Elf Crimson Scar named Silarian, who betray's them to the Black Hand because he didnt like being a Vampire. Is the Dark Minion supposed to be the same person. - 92.17.228.24 09:32, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

I doubt it. After all, if Salarian knew of Deepscorn Hollow, he would undoubtedly have told the Dark Brotherhood about it. –RpehTCE 09:52, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

Dark Minion in DB?[edit]

Isn't there that skeleton Dark Minion that patrols the DB's HQ? --Matthewest TCE 19:19, 4 July 2008 (EDT)

They are called 'Dark Guardians'. But yeah, one of those do patrol the sanctuary. --Shadownet Ninja 19:28, 4 July 2008 (EDT)

Mission Failure[edit]

What causes the dark minion to fail his mission (as indicated by the "Your dark minion has failed his task." message)? Was he killed? Was some precondition not met? Is it randomized? I have seen the failure message only twice upon walking into Deepscorn Cloister: once after arriving during gameplay then once again after loading that arrival's automatically created save point at the underwater door (with several attempts and one or two game exits and restarts in between). — Brian Sexton 01:37, 4 November 2008 (EST)

It's random. His script simply uses the GetRandomPercent function, with success being a value <75. –RpehTCE 03:29, 4 November 2008 (EST)

Minion Behavoir[edit]

Does he eat, because I stored a lot of alchemical ingredientts in the storage area and some of them are disapeering so I was just wondering if this was due to him eating them — Unsigned comment by TakaRai (talkcontribs) on 15 June 2009

Possibly (I can't check, I don't have the plug-in), but unlikely. That effect would only be minimal. You are more likely suffering from the Container Glitch. Check that page for details. --Timenn < talk > 07:33, 15 June 2009 (EDT)
Can someone check? Because I'd like to store my chokeberries and poisoned apples in the food cupboard, but I don't want him getting that permanent poisoning effect by eating one. Legoless 17:35, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes he does. Twice a day in Deepscorn Bastion. –rpehTCE 20:02, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
And, he is essential so he shouldn't die from the Deadly Poison effect.--Corevette789 03:06, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Infamy[edit]

Does wearing the gray cowl can prevent infamy from be on your character when the dark minion come back? Because I have the Crusader's Relics from KotN plug-in and do not want infamy on my char. — Unsigned comment by 70.80.175.48 (talk) on 23 July 2009

The infamy gets assigned to your Gray Fox "persona", so your normal infamy remains the same. Just tested it in-game to make sure. –rpehTCE 19:59, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Skill books[edit]

i know it might be a stupid question but if the Dark minion reads skill books eg: Immortal Blood does he gain the skill increase?--VergilSparda 19:55, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

No. NPCs who read books don't have their skill increased by it. They simply use the book for their read animation. --Timenn-<talk> 12:42, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks im on xbox so--VergilSparda 18:53, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Murder[edit]

When he's sent out to kill someone, does he actually kill people, or does he simply leave and come back with random loot? Just wondering if using him too much might end up diminishing the population to just me and my adoring fan.24.17.72.12 02:39, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

i don't think so because if you think about it if he did he could kill a NPC that is part of a quest but that's just my guess because i don't have the plug-in--GUM!!! 17:35, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Its just in-game, no one actually dies.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 19:08, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

trap door or through the water?[edit]

ever since i bought the dark minion deed, my minion never succeed in a mission, i always used the trap door to get in. and as soon as i get in a massage popped up saying he failed his task. then 2 days after ordering him to kill i tried entering through the water then he succeeded. does it matter which way you enter the building? and also is there a timeout,, in other words should i be back exactly 2 days after i order him to kill or does it make any difference? Magicovento 16:36, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

No, and no. It's just a matter of luck and it sounds like you've been unlucky. rpeh •TCE 17:57, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Where does he actually go?[edit]

Once he is ordered to murder, he will leave the Hollow, but where does he actually go? A few other characters disappear like this (like the guys in the pirate's cove place), but are they just removed from the game for however long or is there some hidden cell where they are stored until they are supposed to return? I'm on the Xbox so I have no idea how these magical mystical coding things happen.— Unsigned comment by 98.28.159.122 (talk) on 4 August 2010

I don't have this game for the computer, but I'm assuming that he's disabled once he leaves, and stays disabled for however many days. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 23:03, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Yes, he gets disabled. It's actually quite a clever little script that plays the ladder/trapdoor noise if the player is in the same cell at the time the minion leaves. Nice detail there. rpeh •TCE 07:50, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Quest involvement[edit]

Would the Dark Minion technically be part of the Deepscorn Hollow quest? Because the Dark Minion needs to be bought to complete the quest as it is like the other buy-able parts of the house.--Iamgoofball 21:46, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

coming back[edit]

for me he doesn't come back for along time because i waited 3 days and he didn't return?

Answer: He comes back 4 days after the point in which u asked him, when it has been 4 days leave and re enter the area and then the thingy will pop up saying that he came back +1 infamy or the he has fail 75>25

Another bug?[edit]

This bug seems to be just me, but I noticed he's just standing at the foot of the ladder, but not going anywhere, I've tried waiting both in and out of deepscorn hollow for about 3-4 days all in all, but he just stands there, even tried everything from attacking him and yeilding and shoving him out of position, he'll just walk back there and stand there. If I tslk to him, it's the same two options, and when I ask him to murder, he'll say his usual line but continue standing there. I do have the unofficial mods patch installed. Anyone else have this one?— Unsigned comment by 108.38.46.183 (talk) at 20:02 on 5 November 2011

well what you could try to do is to enter the trapdoor and when you do he will porbibly return. this is one of the most common glitches in oblivion. my xbox 360 live gamertag is QDSXL2001 who ever reads this i whant u to friend me on live if u got it!!!

Vampirism?[edit]

Could you get him to attack you and get Porphyric Hemophilia? Lucien LachanceDB 21:09, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

No, he's not a vampire, he's only a dark elf. The red eyes probably tricked you:)RIM 21:23, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
But he has the facial features of a vampire? He looks old. Lucien LachanceDB 05:22, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
There are actually a few facial features like that which some elf NPCs have. It doesn't say anything about him being a vampire on his page either. If you want to become a vampire you can get it from Vicente Valtieri.RIM 16:44, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
I noticed today that he also has the fangs or whatever vampires have...Lucien LachanceDB 01:33, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
I looked into it and I am inclined to believe he is a vampire, which makes sense because the Vile Lair is a vampire den dedicated to Sithis. Eric SnowmaneQuestions?Send an Email 01:39, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
I thought that made sense as well but there is no mention of it on the page, if he is a vampire it should be added though.RIM 20:41, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

() I just picked up on this discussion while patrolling the older edits and I confirmed it in the Construction Set. If you look in the spell list, the Dark Minion has full-fledged vampirism, so I've added that to the description. Unlike most vampires, however, he's not in the Vampire Faction, but there are other vampires like Vicente Valtieri where this is also the case, so I don't see that as negating his vampirism in any way. I figured adding just the one word was probably sufficient, but if anyone feels more is needed, go nuts. Robin Hoodtalk 18:33, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
