Lost Reference[edit]

On the TV show LOST, there is a landlocked boat on the island called the "Black Rock." — Unsigned comment by ‎216.87.81.5 (talk) at 16:45 on 19 June 2007

Nice observation, but the developers probably created this before LOST was officialy released so it could be a coincidence.--Willyhead 11:46, 13 July 2007 (EDT)

Interesting possibly useless info[edit]

There are two pirates that spawn in the first zone after activating the handle in the second zone. not sure if thats ommited on purpose, but if you left the bandits there, the pirates will fight with them. --Piercethetruth 04:40, 25 November 2007 (EST)

Verification[edit]

If you would like to help with the page's requested work, you may want to read the OPRP project page to see what needs to be done. Also, you may want to disable any mods you may be using before trying to check the cavern, because changes introduced by mods do not belong in the article (I'm assuming that's why you found a mithril cuirass on the table... in vanilla Oblivion it's not there). --NepheleTalk 16:34, 28 April 2008 (EDT)

Black Rock Chest[edit]

Is there actually a chest labeled that, or is just a chest that was given that name to distinguish it's rarer loot. Anyway, I opened what I assumed is the black rock chest, and got a light armor and weapon (both enchanted) but I didn't get the 1766+ gold that is listed here, is that an error, or am I just wrong?70.121.201.71 15:07, 3 January 2009 (EST)

The chest is just labeled "chest", but it should definitely contain 1766+ gold. It's the straight-sided chest in the alcove off the ship's starboard side, next to an empty barrel and a sack. –RpehTCE 04:46, 4 January 2009 (EST)
I think he means there is 1766 gold in total, from all of the chests and sacks. I didn't find a 1766 lump sum, but a few hundred in each chest. Didn't total it, but it could have been that much. — Unsigned comment by 203.206.107.195 (talk) at 16:47 on 28 May 2009
No, there's a guaranteed sum of at least 1766 gold in a single square chest at the back of the hollow (at F on the map) on the left (behind a barrel and a sack). --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 21:11, 7 June 2009 (EDT)
Just double-checked that, since I have a save at the start of Black Rock Caverns. In the 360 version of the game, this is NOT guaranteed. I can take a video that will show me activating the second turn handle to open the trap door, entering the area, and going to the chest if you want proof. An enchanted weapon and armor ARE always there, but the gold always varies. I have never found a large amount of gold here. Are you sure the gold in this chest doesn't somehow scale to your level? KeitaKoneko 19:36, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
I just double-checked my original post. The chest contains 1766 copies of "Gold001" - ie, 1 gold piece. A full video isn't needed, but if you could maybe give us a screenshot to make sure we're talking about the same chest? –rpehTCE 20:27, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

() I just entered the caverns for the first time. Here's the chests on the XBox 360 Image:OB Img BlackRockChests.jpg, and I think you mean this one in particular:Image:OB Img BlackRockChest.jpg I can verify that there is not 1766 gold in the chest, though I did get 1K gold from it Image:OB Img BlackRockContents.jpg. If it's leveled, that should be about the max, seeing as how I am level 42. : ) Keyrlis 15:26, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

I know this is bit late, but I just realized that in your picture it says 1k which could be anything from 1000 to 1999... I will do Black Rock Caverns in a few days, I will update this post with my results. Also, is the light armor leveled or is it, like the ideal gold, set? Stouf761 04:01, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Handle[edit]

On turning the handle in black rock main cavern when you exit to black rock caverns there will be 2 ghost bandits — Unsigned comment by ‎121.223.32.39 (talk) at 08:14 on 8 November 2009

Lost Black Rock Chasms[edit]

Someone needs to post a picture of the entrance to lost black rock chasms, it is near impossible to find without outside help — Unsigned comment by 121.223.32.39 (talk) at 08:14 on 8 November 2009

I agree... I can't find it.--I will mostly edit, I will redo spelling errors and add more info. Wadjet2 01:46, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
Well you look for the water fall and there is usually a map marker, its fairly easy to find to be honest--VergilSparda 20:34, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
It is NNE of Battlethorn or if you dont have the plugin the road west of chorrol that fades and you will see the marker soon it is pretty close. Corevette789 22:59, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Unfinished quest?[edit]

the ghosts seem too special to just be "thrown in the game" in a hidden (see above question) chasm in a random cave, where the player might not even find it in the game. I,for one, have never even heard of the Black Rock Caverns. Plus, the piretes dont respawn. this seems like a quest, early in developmeant, dropped.--Arch-Mage Matt 01:27, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

It could be or not. I mostly think that no, because the editors with access to the CS (especially the creators of this page) would've already noticed something that pointed to an unfinished quest, but I don't have access to the CS so I can really confirm this. --MC S'drassa T2M 01:33, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Verification[edit]

Okay, so, I went through these caverns to verify them. First time. All of the information was correct, except these were the contents of the Black Rock Chest for my lvl 13 Redguard: War Axe of Depletion, Chameleon Curiass, Gold RIng, and 315 gp. I then checked in the construction set and the SAME CHEST had 1766 gp. I think this has been encountered by enough people to be counted a glitch. -DevotedInsanity 21:35, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

I did a couple of tests. Even though the 1766 gold isn't leveled... it seems to be leveled. What I mean is that my level 1 test character only got 30 gold but my level 50 got over 2000. I have no idea how this is possible. rpeh •TCE 14:47, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Free house?[edit]

When I entered the third zone there was no bedroll there. I looked everywhere but i could not find it even though the article says there is. Is there anyone who knows where it is? — Unsigned comment by ‎83.183.34.159 (talk) at 22:59 on 30 December 2010

Let's solve this...?[edit]

I just went through the third zone of this cave several times and, based on the above discussion, we may need to look into the contents of the chests once more; at level 19 I received:

  • Black Pirate Chest: 2x enchanted equipment, 1x poison, 740 gold.
  • Chest opposit Black Pirate chest: 2x Potion
  • Chest next to brazier: 1x Potion, 395 gold, lockpick, topaz.
  • Chest near steering wheel: 1x Potion, 470 gold.
  • Chest behind steering wheel: 1x Potion, 320 gold, lockpick.

Now, for all I know, the huge amount of gold means that we have 4 boss-leveled chests down here + 1 restoration chest. Maybe, with todays knowledge, we can get closer to what this zone actually contains? --Krusty 16:15, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Taking a quick glance at the CS tells me there are three kinds of chests in that zone, hope it helps. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 16:30, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
BlackRockChest01, with the pirate at the end of a tunnel with the ghost flame braziers, potential contents:
Enchanted light armor
An enchanted weapon
A piece of jewelry
A soulgem
Potions
Gold
BlackRockChest02, two of these appear, the other at an end of a tunnel with a pirate and the ghost flame braziers, near the ship potential contents:
Gold
Gems
Healing potions
Enchanted weapon
Lockpick
DungBanditChest04Healing, found at an end of a tunnel with a pirate and the ghost flame braziers, potential contents
Potions
So, this basically means that this cave contains a unique form of chests, right? Any information on the amount of gold? --Krusty 17:59, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

random Black Rock Pirate in Main Chamber?[edit]

I am 99% sure that I got a Black Rock Pirate in the second zone (the Black Rock Main Chamber) before I even found the switch in that zone. I entered through the door at C, killed one of the bandits at range, and then suddenly I was fighting some invisible guy. At the time I thought it was the bandit leader casting chameleon or something (I was so startled that he killed me, so I never really got a good luck at who he was). Then I checked UESP, found the switch, went back to the first zone and realized that it was probably actually one of the ghosts. As I said it was before I even found the switch to trigger the ghosts in Zone 1 (and per UESP, there should never be a ghost in Zone 2 at all, just 1 and 3). It did NOT appear when I redid the zone after I died - I killed the bandit and the bandit ringleader, but he did not turn invisible. Is that some kind of weird glitch, or was I more likely right the first time (invisible bandit)? I'm on an XBox 360 GOTY. — Unsigned comment by 169.232.190.72 (talk) at 00:16 on 8 November 2012

Doing this on very low levels? Lower your expectations, drastically.[edit]

I did this as a Level 2 (got away with it because I had a high sneak and had earlier happened to find a powerful On Touch destruction spell that would one-hit the pirates). I received less than 300 gold from all the chests combined, plus two enchanted objects, a Shortsword of Weariness worth about 130 gold and the Helmet of the Lemur, worth 1054 gold, the only really valuable object in the whole place. It wasn't bad considering my very low level, but still far from 1766 gold or whatever it was. 174.6.51.17 22:04, 20 December 2013 (GMT)
