The Necromancer's Amulet

The Necromancer's Amulet is encountered during The Necromancer's Amulet quest, but it must be given up at the end of the quest and cannot subsequently be retrieved. It is an artifact that has appeared in previous Elder Scrolls games.

Notes[edit]

  • The Unofficial Oblivion Patch causes the Necromancer's Amulet and the Bloodworm Helm to appear in the Arch-Mage's night-stand after the Mages Guild quests are complete.
  • Without the unofficial patch, it is possible to obtain multiple copies of the Necromancer's Amulet if you reanimate Caranya's corpse then kill her again.
    • However, if you copy the amulet before returning to Traven, it will prevent you from completing the quest: when you talk to Traven again, he will just ask if you have talked to Caranya. It is possible to avoid this by handing in the first copy of the amulet, thus completing the quest, then returning to Fort Ontus to reanimate Caranya's corpse.
    • If you have installed the Shivering Isles expansion and obtained the Risen Flesh power, you can return to Fort Ontus immediately.
    • You can also use the Staff of Worms to reanimate Caranya, as long as you can complete the Mages Guild quests and return to Fort Ontus before Caranya's corpse disappears.
    • There is another (but more difficult) way to do this if you have the Skull of Corruption. When Caranya becomes non-essential (that is, when she begins to attack you), fire the Skull of Corruption at her, kill the clone, save before the clone disappears (while looking at it, so that you can quickly access its inventory), load the save game you just made, and quickly access the clone's inventory. The Necromancer's Amulet should be there. The game will register it as if you had got the original one. Kill the real Caranya (otherwise she will disappear once the quest is completed), return the clone's Necromancer's Amulet, and then go back to Fort Ontus to get the "original" Amulet from the real Caranya's corpse.

Bugs[edit]

  • The only version of the amulet that appears in the game is the level 25+ version, unless the Console is used to generate the others. See the quest page for more details.
