Belated welcome[edit]

Hello Scum! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you, on the other hand, would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at this link:

  • Userboxes: near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to make your own

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! --Wolok gro-Barok 18:27, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Show Preview[edit]

Hey there! You seem to have been making multiple edits to a page by not using the show preview button, clogging up the Recent Changes in the process. We appreciate your help improving the wiki, but keep in mind that each edit needs to be patrolled, so multiple consecutive edits create an unnecessary hassle on those who patrol. So please utilize this feature! —ABCface 15:15, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Edit summaries[edit]

When you make an edit summary, it is generally useful to use the following format:

/* Section name */ put edit summary here

If you do so, then someone clicking on the little arrow before the section name in your edit summary is taken to that section of the page automatically. Putting your summary where the section name should be is a bit confusing (as people look for black text as a summary rather than gray text) and doesn't let this work as intended.

Just a little heads up, and a request to put your edit summary in the normal spot. Thanks for your contributions! Vely►Talk►Email 18:48, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Shadowmark[edit]

Per your edit here, I have a couple questions. For one, did you see the other three "protected" marks in addition to that one you're noting? I'm uncertain weather or not they were all the manor or whether the meadery was involved, so it's possible one of those is what you're mentioning. Also, was it on a wall/doorframe or a barrel? If it was on a barrel, then ignore that first question of mine. And thirdly, if the mark was not one of the three mentioned, then how far are you through the Thieves Guild quests? Supposedly some marks don't show up right away, making the list possibly incomplete.

Most of that list was compiled from searching for the textures through the Creation Kit, hence why it would be easy to misname the buildings. Vely►t►e 01:06, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Nevermind. I wasn't planning on opening the CK but I did anyway, turned out I misplaced one. Thanks for catching it. Vely►t►e 01:19, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
(Assuming you're watching this page:) To be perfectly honest, I had no idea that they changed, or that the list was compiled using actual textures from the Creation Kit. My thought process was: "Oh, well, here's a Shadowmark that isn't listed. I guess I'll put it in," thinking they were all permanent. I'll definitely not put any more edits there without the proper research from now on. I guess I'm just lucky it turned out to be one of the permanent ones. Sorry for the inconvenience. I do tend to watch user talk pages I edit, but I also watch the Recent Changes, so I tend to see it anyway. It's no inconvenience--one of the ones I said was on the manor was actually on the meadery where you said it was.
In the future if you do find one that's not on the list, posting on the talk page with your Thieves Guild progress would help out a lot because of the phased appearances. The permanent ones on wood and stone are all there, though ones on barrels and other containers may not be. It's not a big deal, I just decided to try interrogating you before I decided to open up the CK :) Vely►t►e 04:09, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
