When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).
Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox. If you would like to discuss the games or lore, consider checking out our Discord, forums, or blog. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Lastly, thanks once again for joining the UESPWiki, and have fun! — Wolfborn(Howl) 22:54, 21 December 2024 (UTC)Licensing of Image Uploads[edit]
Hey there! Thanks for your contributions to the wiki so far. I just wanted to check on the copyright license for images which you have uploaded from legalalien. That website is a privately-owned website; it isn't a "website owned by Bethesda Softworks" and therefore the Fair Use license doesn't apply. We therefore need to check what permissions we do have to upload those images here. Could you please confirm whether you have contacted Hugh Riley to ask whether we can re-use those images here? Thanks! — Wolfborn(Howl) 23:12, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Ah no, I have not been in contact with Hugh Riley, I apologize for the mistake. Since his website is up, I imagine it could be possible to ask him. I uploaded these as I noticed that the chest armor texture was uploaded here by an established user about a year ago, so perhaps they were/are able to contact Mr. Riley for permission. Another Welcome![edit]
Hi there and welcome! Thanks for all the great contributions so far! You're doing a great job at preserving obscure TES media and just wanted to say it's great to have all those pre-release images on the wiki. I know I keep moving them around but it's because of strange placement more than anything. I also wanted to ask where are you getting some of the concept art in such high quality? -Tarponpet (talk) 03:35, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hey thanks Tarponpet, I'm happy to help out! Feel free to continue to adjust my formatting as needed, It's fantastic to make our contributions are as good as they can be. I've been doing quite a bit of trawling through the internet archives and have been able to find quite a lot of goodies that haven't been archived here yet. I specifically found the concept art for Morrowind on archives of the official French and German sites for the game, morrowind-fr.com, and morrowind.de from back in Morrowind's hey-day. This old official listing of TES websites and fan-sites on the Internet Archive has been a big help in my contributions, if you'd like to take a dive yourself! Hagrin Frost-Eye (talk) 03:50, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- No problem at all, I am slightly active on discord, and I've seen you active on some of the UESP discord channels from time to time, so I'll be able to send you a private message here shortly. Hagrin Frost-Eye (talk) 00:09, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
Pre-Release Screenshots[edit]
Nice job with all the archival work you've been doing! I noticed you've been adding a lot of pre-release promotional screenshots to different gamespace and lore articles. Generally, we try to use UESP screenshots taken in-game rather than pre-release material. Great to have those images on Morrowind:Screenshots, but per our image standards they're not ideal for use on other articles. —Legoless (talk) 11:57, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, Legoless! I'm more than happy to help the UESP after its been there for me for so many years. I appreciate you reaching out and giving me a heads up. I plan to only include a limited selection of these pre-release images in relevant articles and topics. Images with UI elements will not be added in game or lore articles, and further images I add will showcase something interesting/relevant to the lore/game, such as enemies appearing to work together in combat, or a passenger boarding a Silt Strider, for example. I also noticed you adjusted the images I added on the Raven Rock pages to accurately caption them as pre-release images. Thank you for doing this, and I will do it as well going forward.
- I'm still pretty new to editing for the UESP, so feel free to give me additional guidance for these images if needed, and I can adjust! Thank you. Hagrin Frost-Eye (talk) 16:17, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
Battlespire Conversations[edit]
Hey Hagrin, I've been making quite a few updates to Battlespire and noticed you were making a fair number of updates as well to the monster/NPC conversation sections and thought I'd message you as you appear to be interested in those which is something I'm really not and hadn't planned on doing myself. However, I do have some knowledge on that you may want to flush those out a bit more.
PUT/TAKE
The format for those is basically <ItemID>_<SubTypeID>. For most of the items the SubTypeID is the EnchantmentID; however, for books (32) and scrolls (21) that is the 3 digit number at the end of the book/scroll's text file name. 10000 is used where there is no subtype (they use that value alot for that purpose for various things internally).
Here's a list of all the PUT/TAKE values and the item it matches to:
ConvFile | Code | Name |
---|---|---|
CH1 | 21_033 | Scroll: Chimere's List |
CH1 | 14_5016 | Spear of Bitter Mercy |

XM1 | 35_10000 | Gatekey |
ZN1 | 31_9018 | Roht Sigil of Entry |
The SUMMON command is somewhat similar, using <MonsterAbbrev>_<Count>.
Inventory Variables
There are number of variables that are set based on what you have in your inventory/equipped. The variable names aren't too hard to parse but I went ahead and listed them here. It's not structured the same way internally (it's embedded in the executable) but I sorta reformatted it to match the table above.
ConvFile | Code | Name |

Note that the two "Not" variables are precisely that, those are flagged true if you do not have those.
ENDFRAME
The number for those is the index for the text record to display from TEXT.RSC describing whatever horrible end you reached.
COMMAND
The number sets the monster's goal or attitude, not entirely clear on how this works as monsters will sometimes do whatever despite what is set. In conversations, only 4 and 13 get set so it's a bit simpler. 4 looks to be hostile but doesn't _always_ cause them to attack if they weren't already (usually do) and 13 tells them to hold position and not attack (may initiate conversation next time you come into range, a bit random though).
MONSTERRALLY
Appears to cause all other monsters in the area (no idea range though not overly large) to target whoever the "rallier" is targeting (you).
File Mapping
Lastly, this how it picks what conversation file to use. There is a table in the executable that contains a "generic" mapping of enemy types to conversation files with up to 5 types defined (it just repeats the last one to fill out the table when less than 5 types in the level). Additionally, specific monsters (and all NPCs) can have a conversation file specified in the level's BS6 file that will override the generic file.
This is the table:
Level | Monster1 | ConvFile1 | Monster2 | ConvFile2 | Monster3 | ConvFile3 | Monster4 | ConvFile4 | Monster5 | ConvFile5 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Scamp | SK1 | Vermai | VM1 | Dremora | DR1 | Dremora | DR1 | Dremora | DR1 |
2 | Scamp | SK2 | Vermai | VM2 | Dremora | DR2 | Spider Daedra | SD1 | Spider Daedra | SD1 |
3 | Skeleton | SN1 | Ghost | GH1 | Wraith | WR1 | Morphoid Daedra | MD1 | Morphoid Daedra | MD1 |
4 | Fire Daedra | FR1 | Frost Daedra | FT1 | Dremora | DR4 | Seducer | SR1 | Dark Seducer | DS5 |
5 | Fire Daedra | FR2 | Frost Daedra | FT2 | Dark Seducer | DS1 | Herne | MA1 | Herne | MA1 |
6 | Clannfear | CF1 | Herne | MA3 | Seducer | SR5 | Daedra Count | ML1 | Daedra Count | ML1 |
7 | Daedra Count | ML2 | Daedra Lord | DL1 | Dark Seducer | DS3 | Wraith | WR2 | Wraith | WR2 |
8 | Daedra Count | ML2 | Daedra Lord | DL1 | Dark Seducer | DS3 | Wraith | WR2 | Wraith | WR2 |
Yes, the table has a level 8 that is identical to 7, I don't know why but there are numerous tables with that exact L7/8 duplication throughout the game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyhow, great work and hope this is useful to you in your efforts.

- Wow! Thank you for giving me this insight. I've been fiddling around in the game's files but you've helped illuminate some questions I had while getting the voices extracted. This will be extremely useful for discerning the conversation trees and their outcomes. I'm sure I'll be coming back to this message many times while I comb over more of Battlespire's files, voices, animations, and sounds. With the unused dialogue from the Daedra Seducer I found, I'm quite curious to see how many more secrets this game will hide. Your work on the game has been great, and I'm happy to see multiple of us giving this old game better documentation.
- Thank you again, and happy editing! Hagrin Frost-Eye (talk) 20:42, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
- Looking for hidden things, lol, you have no idea :P
- Anyhow, since you're poking at files and trying to figure some of these things out, I tossed a couple of the docs I put together up here and, while they're documented under the saved game format page (I'll probably split that out to a separate page once I add the BS6 file format), the enumerations list might help some things make more sense too.

good editor[edit]
Your awesome wiki edits have not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the awesome edits you've made, and has given you this book because of it. Good work! This copy of the Oghma Infinium was presented on 2 july 2025
