Black Horse Courier[edit]

Great work on both filling out the content and revamping the tables on the Black Horse Courier article! I'm just curious why you have it separated into two tables, though. Was that intended to be a side-by-side layout? Robin Hoodtalk 16:22, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

It's like you're in IRC at all times! Yes, I was but I am stumped as to how.--Corevette789 16:26, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Hahaha...I'm not there quite that often! All you missed for the side-by-side was adding a | in between the two columns of the outer table. With that in place, with fixed column widths of the inner tables became irrelevant, so I removed those too. Robin Hoodtalk 18:19, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

hey, i was looking for some oblvion mods and i went to the pcs top 10 essencial mods and i startedmdownloading them. everithing was fine until i downloaded and installed Darnified UI and when i started playing my character lvl was reset all was reset how was at the beggining of the game and the maps all looked transparent. i uninstalled the mod but when i loded it again it said oblivion had stop working. please help.

It seems you had some type of conflict going on, I would have no idea how to fix this...using Mods makes the game very unstable, and is usually advised gainst because of the numerous glitches that will form.--Corevette789 19:07, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi,

I'm a newcomer to the whole wiki concept in general and I read that one could ask for a mentor. I have no idea if this is the proper way to ask for a mentor or if you will accept giving me advice. My custom created feather spells (i make sure to have 10 of them)[edit]

when in planse of Oblivion it seems that the custom feather spells I created last half as long if not less. Is this normal? whenever i start a new quest i always make sure to create at least ten feather spells 100 pts for 120 secs. they seem to last more like 30 to 60 secs in Wastes of Oblivion. its getting quite old to have to cast them over and over again so soon. especially when im packing 2000+ pounds of loot. my equipment with this current character is beveled guantlete (110 life detect) inquisitors helmet (110 life detect) glass cuirass i enchanted with 10 strenght, same with glass greaves 10 strengh, cruelties heart, ring 10 strength, mundane ring, boots of the atronach, and spell breaker, Umbra (before vile makes it weight 40 lbs, bow of the inferno and a couple hundred deadric arrows. also ring of the vipereye somehow glithed so it is always on even though its not, i cant put it on or drop it either. that happened early on in the game butcant remember what quest. it was one that removed all items from my inventory but not that deadric shrine quest that involves stark reality. maybe the one where you have to go to jail in bruma? — Unsigned comment by 75.142.20.139 (talk) at 10:07 on 4 September 2011

Yeah, those permaitems are common, and don't harm anything in your case. What concerns me is the fact that your feather spells are getting shorter. what I picked up is you're using ~10 spells. Since you have 2000 pounds on your shoulders, you'll have to have all 10 spells going at one time, instead of only having to have maybe 3 in reality. I play the same way as you, total inventory packrat (and even more at my house). I recommend enchanting the majority of your armor with Feather or Fortify Strength. as far as your spells actually getting shorter, I've never encountered such a thing.--Corevette789 21:12, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Creating an Article[edit]

I was planning on creating an article on the Giant Frostbite Spider under Skyrim's creatures. Where exactly should I post the article and is there some format that I should follow for posting the material? I was planning on just adding it under Skyrim:Monsters as this is the redirect for the link that is under Skyrim:Creatures. Any advice you could give would be great. Thanks for your time. The Don 07:28, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Just post your request for a new page here. Currently, only Admins, Patrollers and Userspace Patrollers are able to create pages. Kitkat TalkContribE-mail 07:37, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure an article is necessary. I imagine there is an entry on Frostbite spider in our Bestiary, and giant spider should just be added as alternative types.--Corevette789 19:53, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
Just to say, the following pages exist on spiders already. Anyone can turn a redirect into a normal article page. But the last page I linked already is a normal page. --Kiz ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 19:59, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

How to remove the 'Needs Image' template?[edit]

Sorry to bother you, but I am currently in the process of adding images to LOTS of articles that need them, but the Needs Image template is semi-protected and I can't remove it. What am I to do? I've already added some images to pages that needed them and they still have the This page could benefit from an image... box at the top. Thanks! --LJGB 02:25, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

You need to add the image to the summary, for example, do this. That puts the image in the correct place on the page. --NepheleTalk 02:38, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
Ahh, okay, I'll go back and update the images I've already done, thanks! --LJGB 02:52, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
I've done what you asked for each image. I've added about 33 images to articles and plan on doing more. Thanks for your help. --LJGB 04:17, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Question about editing[edit]

Hello, it seems i should ask you things considering you are a mentor and seem like a nice person:) I had a lot of trouble with word walls, they sometimes simply do not work. I finally found a fix using the console. As other people also seem to be having these problems, i think it would be nice to includes these codes on the inidividual pages for each shout. (these are codes for each word seperate, instead of just the code for the entire shout(which btw i could not get to work)) I have got all the codes on my talk page. However i think they should be in the box/table thinggie on the right side of the page, but i can't seem to figure out how to do that. I wondered if you shared my view and could help me with this! Thanks! --Bign0se 14:39, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

I agree to having them in the template to the side, seeing as we have the console ID's for just about everything included there. You would have to edit the template itself to do that, (confusing work, I might add) and it would automatically effect all the pages with that template on it. I'll make sure your concern is heard on the talk page of the template, and I'm sure there won't be an issue with it. Great idea, and thanks for your help :)--Corevette789 00:33, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Scratch that, the ID is actually already in the template. It's in the parenthesis just under thew title.--Corevette789 00:35, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
That is the code for the entire shout, not just the words. The specific problem i'm having, and some other people as well, is that some word walls seem to not work, so you can not learn the words. On my talk page i have posted the codes for each individual word, which can be used with the console code player.teachword. I think it would be nice to have them under each individual word or something, since a lot of people don't seem to know about the code for what i can see here and on google. This however doesn't fix the quest where you have to find a word(for me it kept pointing me at stupid hag's end), but at least you can shout! --Bign0se 13:42, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Mentorship[edit]

Hello ! My name is Kiba, and I am looking for a mentor to, well, show me the ropes. Ive spent too much time on this page studying lore to not put it to use. You see, I am hoping you could help me get started in editing and page creation so i can further this website. I would love to see some more articles involving game universe information; a well rounded creation timeline before the Merethic era, Aedra and Daedra relations etc. Id really appreciate your help, please email me at kibasaurus@gmail.com. Hope to hear from you — Unsigned comment by 74.209.11.12 (talk) at 02:35 on 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Hello Kiba! Please consider reading UESPWiki:Getting Started for some basic details on getting started. You should also create an account or log in if you already have one so we can put your face to a name, so to speak. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 02:35, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Umm... Table??[edit]

Hi. I am wondering how to put up a table on my userpage, like yours, but I can't figure out how... Can you tell me how to do that? Lucien LachanceDB 06:15, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

You can just pinch the coding (like Corevette did originally, if I remember correctly) and replace it with details relating to yourself. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 06:20, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Add a Note[edit]

Hi. Please see Skyrim:The_Mortar_and_Pestle. I think I should place my comment in the discussion page in a "notes" or "bugs" section on the main page, but don't know how. I have seen the instructions under "Missing Text" here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Help:Editing, but I am missing something. Well, certainly I'm missing experience editing and, so far, the patience to read ALL of the editing instructions! Thanks. Jreynolds2 01:23, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Correcting an Editing Error[edit]

Hello. Serves me right for trying to edit without instructions (about how I play TES games too). Anyway, I accidentally deleted the whole "references" section on the Morag Tong page. There is an NPC in Skyrim who misidentifies the group and I wanted to mention that, but I accidentally edited the whole section out instead. The NPC is, at least, dead.

Sorry. — Unsigned comment by Mr Greaves (talkcontribs)

PLEASE CHECK MY UPDATE IN SKYRIM SKILLS SECTION[edit]

I believe that the setup structure is wrong. Archery is a thief's skill. Enchantment is a warrior's skill. Alchemy is a mage's skill. I have placed an argument in the notes section.

Mentor: Question about adding warnings[edit]

Hi, I'm not really big into patrolling, but a few times I've happened across pages where a person CLEARLY is just being a you-know-what and adds something like "My Dick" (actual example) randomly into a page. I understand if someone undoes the edit and doesn't want to bother with placing a warning, but I'm so annoyed, I feel the need to make sure a warning tag is placed on their page. Other than using the template, should I put a description like "User placed obscenity on page. Edit# 123456"? (Does just putting the edit # give enough information?) I wasn't sure if it was standard to write something or if it's preferred that you only put the warning with no additional details. I'm not looking into chasing people down, but I've come across 2-3 cases, and I just wanted to do things right. (Yes, I've read the pages about the warnings and assume-good-faith, etc. I'm only willing to put a warning on the really obvious, extreme cases.) Thanks! --Amsuko 00:33, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

It's not necessary to specify the edit unless it's one bad edit out of several good ones, making it harder to spot. If that's the case, the easiest way is to just copy the URL of the edit into the text of the warning and put it in square brackets. Any text you put after the URL shows up as the word(s) to link, so for example, "...as you did [http://www.uesp.net/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3ACorevette789&diff=901502&oldid=881686 here]) gives "...as you did here". And yes, it's allowed that you can modify the text of the warning to whatever it needs to be, though you should try to stick to the standard wording apart from that unless it's something really unusual.
Even if it's been reverted, if nobody has warned the user, feel free to add a warning as long as it's within an hour or two of the edit, or if they're making multiple vandalism edits. This way if they do it again, we can say they've been warned and just go straight to blocking them. Typically, we allow one grace edit after a warning, which is because they may not yet have seen the warning. Robin Hoodtalk 03:59, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, I had tried using the link of a "compare differences" before, but I was unsure if that link would always be valid since it looked so strange (wasn't sure if it was based on my specific log-in session or something like that). Also, it only seemed capable of being an outside link, (I had assumed I didn't know how to make it an internal link). So, I thought that might be frowned upon, (to go around sticking external links where internal links should be). I thought there might be special patrolling for external links too, and I would just be making more work for people. Mostly, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't trying-to-be-helpful in an unhelpful way. Thanks, --Amsuko 16:53, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
There is another way of doing it that makes it look a little more like an internal link, but in fact, it's a "disguised" external link. The above would look like this instead: "...as you did {{Pl|User talk:Corevette789|diff=901502&oldid=881686|here}}", which would give "...as you did here" (notice that the external link flag is missing). For regular users, there's nothing special in a diff link; for Patrollers and Admins, depending how we got there, there might be some specific additional parameters (rcid=whatever), but even there, there's no effect in posting that except to another Patroller/Admin where it makes the diff look like it hasn't been patrolled, even if it has. Finally, no, there's no extra work for patrolling external links, so don't worry about that. If I recall, you're the one who has to do the extra work, since I think you have to go through a Captcha check don't you? (It's been a rather long time since I've been a regular user. <g>) Robin Hoodtalk 00:07, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

All of the editors on this site are volunteers who aren't obliged to answer any questions, but do so because they wish to help other TES players. If your questions haven't been answered, that's just too bad - either nobody has seen your question or nobody knows the answer. In case you haven't noticed, we're also kind of busy right now with the constant surge of edits - it's not possible to answer every single individual question. Kitkat TalkContribE-mail 21:25, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
I have, actually, attempted searching the CK for an answer to the question, but I haven't found one and I don't have the time nor focus to manually pick out all discoverable locations on the CK. Not even Google has the answer. --Velyanthe 21:34, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
