Talk[edit]

Why does talk pages not count in the 200 edits needed to be a mentor? Not asking questions in talk pages, but isn't replying to questions and confirming bugs ect. what the Mentors are all about?--Arch-Mage MattTalk 21:35, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes, but it's important to see that a prospective mentor knows how to improve actual articles. The role of a mentor is to improve another editor's input on the wiki, and unless one has demonstrated enough knowledge of editing pages and checking one's own material by editing articles, it's impossible to state that one is ready to mentor another. Don't worry though - you've got enough edits. (see for yourself) rpeh •TCE 21:49, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

I don't understand[edit]

i don't understand the edit count at all can someone tell me how many more edits i need to become a mentor because i know i don't have enough???--Thedrunknord 22:00, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Go to Special:Editcount and fill in your name. You will see that almost all of your edits are in User and Talk, so they do not count. --Brf 22:05, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Candc4[edit]

Could I get some mentoring for templating and coding, its what I do best. — Unsigned comment by Candc4 (talkcontribs) at 21:13 on 11 May 2011

What do you need help with? Elliot (talk) 01:50, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
I mostly need help with learning how to center things and how to turn text diffrent colours and advanced table making you know how to do the thing some pages do how they put 40% of the table here another 20% there--Candc4 02:25, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
You can center by using style="text-align:center;". You can change color by using style="color:blue". It's harder to explain the tables; the best way for you to learn would be to just toy with different things. I recommend making your own wiki over at Wikia to do some playing around. Elliot (talk) 02:31, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Using those style attributes is best, but while learning you might also want to check out our {{Al}}, {{FC}} and {{BG}} templates. rpeh •TCE 06:22, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
I got an idea I make a page know as User:Candc4FTW/template training and you guys can used it to teach me more about templating there, and we can work on teaching me more there, I know I screw up more times then I help but if I can do something most users can't do I'll finally prove my worth to the wiki--Candc4 22:35, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Updating and Lack of Mentors[edit]

I've taken the liberty of updating our current list of mentors and because almost all of our mentors were retired or semi-retired. Now that only two editors on this list meet the criteria, it's safe to say that we're in need for some new mentors. If anyone meets the criteria listed on the page and would like to be harrassed by help editors in need, please feel free to add your name to the list. But only if you meet the listed criteria. •WoahBro►talk 00:22, 18 September 2014 (GMT)

Ambiguous Requirement[edit]

I noticed one of the immediate disqualifications is "Inactive on UESPWiki in the last three months." I find this quite ambiguous, mainly because a user may not have even been on the wiki for 3 months. In my case, I've been on the wiki for nearly a month, and I haven't been inactive, but I'm unsure if I could put my name down because it's hard to tell I meet the requirements for this.

I suggest that it be rewritten to clarify; which I'm happy to do, but I'll need someone to explain which meaning it has. Thanks in advance. AlphaAbsol (talk) 08:18, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

The mentor program is specifically for experienced editors, so I'd say editing for three months minimum before putting yourself forward would be a good rule of thumb. —Legoless (talk) 09:45, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
Mentors are expected to be able to be able to answer almost all questions asked of them, and by our patroller qualifications we suggest you need at least one month to reasonably familiarise yourself with the sites rules and workings. Only long-term editors usually put themselves forward as mentors, but there is no reason anyone who can be a patroller can't be a mentor. The inactive rule is only written for inactive users, as a situation for when to remove names, so currently there is no rule forbidding anyone with more than 200 constructive edits putting their name forward. However, I would support a three month minimum term for mentors when/if the rule is added. The role is much more involved than a patroller in shaping a users ability to edit properly and build a lasting experience on the site. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 22:19, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

IRC[edit]

The page states that an alternative to having email enabled is activity in IRC. Now that we've replaced IRC with Discord, it might be worth updating the requirement on this page. - KINMUNETALK﴿ 03:32, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

hlp with brma!![edit]

Could somebody help me with a problem im having. I'm in bruma and I decide to join the fighters guild to make some money. I go inside (doors unlocked, I think it was near night) and I talk to the main guy there. Ironic thing is that I needed money to also buy lock picks. I find out I cant join there, try to go out side and the doors locked. I cant get outside and everyone's following me around, telling me to get out! Obviously I don't have any lock picks, and I swear I looked EVEYWHERE for some but there isn't any. So I'm stuck inside, people following me around. Then a guard comes in to attack me for being inside and I'm thinking, good, now he's come in I can get out. Nope. The doors still locked and he's there attacking me. then the fighters guild members start attacking me. Eventually I got out and had a bounty in every city (cause that's the amazing world of cyrodill). Is this a glitch or just something that can happen? —DarkShadows (talk) 11:37, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
