Manse Horaren

Manse Horaren is a Dark Elf Noble who resides in Horaren Manor, in Andothren. While her husband, Tholas Horaren, has a slightly higher rank in House Hlaalu, Manse still wields considerable authority. It is she who is responsible for the checking of the Rivenwake's papers (and the issuing of fines to the same) during the events of The Waylaid Ship. Manse also proves politically sensitive if you report the discovery of a velk aboard that same vessel - realising that hushing up the affair is the wisest course of action lest House Indoril take offense at the theft of their sacred animal:

"A velk? Are you sure? In that case, it's the worst smuggling attempt I've seen here for years. We need to arrest the captain, I see no way around it. Except... then the velk would become our problem. If the Indoril find out... No, we can't take that risk. Better send the ship away with its cargo. A hefty fine it is, then. That should keep the captain from trying something like this again." - Manse

Her relationship with her husband appears to be loving, despite his grumbles, and in general Manse seems to have a reputation of being more tolerant - both towards outlanders and those of a lower class. She is willing to help fund the Temple's work aiding the poor during Andothren Charity with little in the way of argument, and is easily persuaded to vote to protect the life of Clavus Farragian in The Hearing, to her husband's grumbling:
