Picking Front Gate[edit]

I can't pick the lock on the front gate because every time the pick breaks it forces me out and the lock changes.67.183.151.247 04:37, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Have you tried the Skeleton Key? It doesn't break after all... 89.189.38.226 11:45, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
This tends to happen while Lockpicking in combat situations or situations were someone is noticing you — Unsigned comment by 80.101.235.78 (talk) at 22:09 on 5 February 2012

Bug[edit]

Got a bug in mine. Went to the Embassy but Malborn is not inside and there's no way I can get out of there. Lost 2 1/2 hours because of that :( — Unsigned comment by Toshi04 (talkcontribs) at 09:04 on 28 November 2011

Reeking Cave[edit]

Where is it?- Azurome 11:03, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Follow the embassy quest, you'll discover that cave Foxdie 13:55, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
This isn't excessively helpful. Does the cave simply not exist prior to this quest? --72.211.207.48 01:02, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
It exists and can be enetered to combat a troll and pick up a skill book. If you start at Wolf Cave (Solitude quest) and go to East along the road you can find it somehow.--31.128.147.39 23:50, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
I noticed that the Reeking Cave link redirects to the Embassy page. Considering that it is an area that can be found without going to the Embassy, and the 1.4 patch moves a Stone of Barenziah there so it can be accessed even when you are not doing the Diplomatic Immunity quest, I think Reeking Cave should have its own page, not a redirect. Would it be appropriate to put a marker on the Skyrim Map to help locate the entrance? Obax 06:26, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

Killing Guards prevents Quest?[edit]

I accidentally discovered this area while wandering and was attacked by the Thalmor guards. Needless to say I killed them all. However when I finally started the main questline and received the quest Diplomatic Immunity, I couldn't enter the embassy; there was no guard to check my invitation. I was able to arrive without any trouble and Razleen was there, but no guard. Rage quit then started a new file — Unsigned comment by 98.238.243.104 (talk) at 02:08 on 9 January 2012

Reeking Cave link[edit]

I can't get up the side of the cave to get to the Thalmor Embassy. I followed the notes exactly as they were written and also on my own (prior to reading the notes) and it just took me back to the entrance to the cave like I had just walked in. I don't know if this is another patch or a bug, but I can't get into the embassy to get the Stone of Barenziah (I don't know if I spelled that right). I also can't remember if I already got it or not and I'm not willing to load a previous save because A) I can't remember what level I was and B) I'm not about to lose all of my progress for a lousy pink stone. — Unsigned comment by 76.208.68.46 (talk) at 05:42 on 14 March 2012

I have sneak 100, all perks, and sneak enchantments of huge proportions. I can stand in the open right in front of enemies and they won't see me. The unmarked Reeking Cave exit can be entered from the outside. The map position of the exit of the hidden cave exit/entrance is LHS (as you face inward to T. Embassy front gate) of the Thalmor Embassy compound about 75 to 80% from the front gate inward to the compound. There is a wide cobbled street a few meters from the cave entrance and that street takes a modest bend to the LHS as you start to go down the hill on the street where the cave entrance is situated. The appearance of the cave exit/entrance is a dark, very acute triangle in the vertical rock face outcropping of the hill cliff atop of which the Thalmor compound was built.
Once entered into the cave you can get into the Embassy dungeons by climbing the ladder back into it. Likely already you have to have the key to the trap door to do this?
How do you get up onto the ledge where the ladder is situated? You have to climb to the highest point on the cave wall that is behind the 35 degree slant oriented huge tree log by hopping, climbing, etc, that cave wall then turn and use your full Whirl Wind Sprint 3 level while aiming your sprint toward the ladder ledge. If you land on the edge of the ledge, be prepared to hop and climb more securely upon the ledge to finally make it to the ladder. The tip top of the angled tree log is not quite high enough to make the sprint jump so that you end up hitting rather than landing on top of the ledge.
Climb up the ladder sneaking, go up all the stairs sneak-creeping, when you enter the solarium there can be a Thalmor guard just inside. The very powerful thralls that I had with me punched the guard once with enchanted gauntlets for huge unarmed damage that killed that guard instantly and silently.
I made it back into the Embassy wing that is accessible via door(s) from the fenced off walkway. While sneaking around, I happened upon the lady Ambassador, Elenwen, so I took a potion of my own concoction (while boosted by wickedly enchanted alchemy equipment) 5000% increase in Illusion, hit her and my crew of 2 dead thralls and Serana with Harmony, Paralyzed the lady Ambassador, then pick pocketed her equipped clothing, etc, so she was walking around sans clothes. The sneak "Hidden" status must be maintained throughout the paralyzing actions so that "she does not know" exactly who "harmed" her.
While she was walking around in this state, she happened upon several of the prior dead Thalmor guards, Wizards, etc. I just kept sneaking until I got back to door the inner court yard, once through it there were guards wandering around who were unaware of my presence (or my harmony struck thralls and Serana) so I was able to fast travel to Whiterun or to the front door gate of the Thalmor Embassy due to them not being hostile (yet). 198.91.176.251 13:09, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

Safe Storage in Barracks?[edit]

Out of curiosity and my hatred of altmer, I came back to the embassy to slaughter some. Since the only accessible place was the barracks, I cleared it out. I came back some time later (not exactly sure, but it was a long time), and while the NPCs respawned, the contents of the containers did not. This time, I left for another amount of time (pretty sure over 10 days), and returned, again the NPCs respawned but not the containers. More verification may be necessary, but I would say that Thalmor Embassy, Barracks, has safe storage (if inconvenient). Android 16:00, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Indeed. The end table, 2 sacks and the cupboards don't respawn. However, this is such an inconvenient location it is pointless to note this anywhere. --SerCenKing Talk 22:41, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Entering After "Diplomatic Immunity" quest is completed[edit]

I was attempting to complete the "No Stones Unturned" quest and was missing one. I chose to go back through and check each site. As we all know you can not get back into the embassy once the "Diplomatic Immunity" quest is complete. I attempted the horse trick with no success as I was using a "Do Not Delete" box instead of a horse. I wanted to let all know that if you go to the North West corner of the compound and use the "platter trick" you can walk through the wall and enter the courtyard and thus the two buildings, however, the main room and kitchen are still off limits.(on patched xbox360) — Unsigned comment by 98.19.43.10 (talk) at 17:25 on 11 April 2012 (GMT)

Redirects from residents section[edit]

The links for the 3 different types of guards within the "Residents" section are inconsistent. "Thalmor Soldier" and "Thalmor Wizard" link to their respective pages, while "Thalmor Archer" links to the Thalmor faction page. I don't want to get into an edit war, so I am asking for some consensus of how these should link. --Xyzzy 15:11, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Looking at CSlist, it seems that Thalmor Wizard has both NPC and Class entries, Thalmor Archer only has a class entry, and Thalmor Soldier has two NPC entries. The Thalmor Soldier page shows that the Thalmor Archer class is used by one type of the NPC, while the Thalmor Warrior class is used by the other. So, in my opinion, if the Archer link is included, it should link to the Soldier page, but, as that seems redundant and unnecessary, I don't think removing it altogether is a bad idea. I don't feel strongly about it either way, though. ABCface 15:20, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Actually, looking at it again, perhaps making it read "2 Thalmor Soldiers" and removing the Thalmor Archer line might be best. Thoughts? ABCface 15:25, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
I'm doing up the Thalmor page like the Forsworn page, so all should go their, when I'm ready the info on the soldier and wizard pages will go to the Thalmor page itself. The Thalmor Archers exist as an NPC, there are two between the embassy and the solar. The Silencer has spokenTalk 15:28, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Due to the inconsistencies across the various pages, and the fact that it may take you some time to finish the changes you are wanting to make, perhaps it would be best to separate the Thalmor Soldier page into two separate pages- Thalmor Soldier (the one with the Warrior class) and Thalmor Archer (meaning the redirect would be changed to an actual page reflecting the Soldier with the Archer class). This way, the three pages are kept in place until you have finished your related changes. Then, all three can be made into redirects. I think this would keep things consistent, as your project with the Thalmor page will likely take some time to complete. ABCface 15:41, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
I've made my revamp. To anyone looking, I habitually marked it as minor, oops. The Silencer has spokenTalk 18:31, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

() Wowza, that's a lot of changes in a short time! Good work, now to take a more detailed look. :) ABCface 18:40, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Are we OK now, can we make the redirect. The Silencer has spokenTalk 00:46, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Not that you need permission (certainly not from me!) but as an opinion, I don't see any problem with that, now that the changes have been made. You've done a great job of fleshing out the Thalmor page, it looks great. As for the redirects, I thought of it earlier, but forgot once I'd gotten done looking over the revamped page. The only thing I would check before changing the redirects is to make sure anything in the NPC Summaries on the related pages are incorporated into the new page somewhere (even if it's not in the tables themselves). We wouldn't want information getting 'lost' in the move. :) ABCface 00:53, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Consensus not permission. RefIDs are 'lost', but there were none on the forsworn page (my base copy) so I don't see where to put them. Justiciars are problematic, they come in either warrior or wizard. The Silencer has spokenTalk 01:34, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
I made the first mention I saw of the Justiciars a linkable entry, so the redirects go there now. There may be a better way of dealing with it, but at least the redirects don't just take you to the top of the page. As for the RefIDs, I'm not sure it's worth worrying about. Looks good all-around, I think. ABCface 02:09, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Elenwen's Solar[edit]

What exactly is a 'Solar?' Is it a type of room, or a building in general? — Unsigned comment by 108.8.210.115 (talk) at 02:45 on 6 August 2013 (GMT)

From wiktionary:solar#Etymology 2: "(obsolete) A loft or upper chamber forming the private accommodation of the head of the household in a medieval hall; a garret room." Robin Hood  (talk) 20:27, 6 August 2013 (GMT)

Not to be confused[edit]

It's worthwhile mentioning that, considering the long line of notes, warnings and bugs associated with "Diplomatic Immunity", the Thalmor Embassy is not the same as the Thalmor Headquarters in Solitude, which can be visited at any time. Lmstearn (talk) 13:54, 21 October 2013 (GMT)

Altmer in Thalmor Robes[edit]

I just wanted to add a fun feature: when you play an Altmer and equip the Thalmor Robes before confronting the Thalmor Guards, they will just ignore you. You can walk freely around until you enter the Solar. — Unsigned comment by 62.178.248.86 (talk) at 20:52 on 25 December 2014

We've already documented it on the appropriate quest page. -- SarthesArai Talk 20:57, 25 December 2014 (GMT)
