Journeyman level?[edit]

A few of these spells are listed as "Journeyman" level. I'm not sure what that means in a Skyrim context. Which perk do I need if I want to halve the casting cost of a Journeyman spell? 99.188.122.91 12:57, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Skyrim rebranded 'Journeyman' as 'Adept', but references to this should have since been corrected Allaryin 23:14, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Bound Weapons[edit]

Can we either show the stats for bound weapons here or add them to an "Items" sublist with a link here? For example, if it conjures an unenchanted "Daedric x," there should be a link to http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Weapons. Ruchn 17:22, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

Spells seem to be random[edit]

For me, the conjuring guy at the college didn't have the "bound bow" spell, for example, so I think it's safe to assume that the spellbooks are randomized.--Irian 21:46, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

My pers (lvl 30+) have only conjuration skill 40, but had already bought "bound bow" spell... May be spells are level-based, not skill-based? --alopex
Could mana capacity play a role in spell availability? After all, Master spells are nominally level 100 but are available as early as 90 once you complete the quest. Allaryin 23:14, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
Spells are most likely in my opinion skill-based,since I had bound bow since level 12...I also believe that conjuration master spells are available at level 90 because it is so,not because of magicka pool(my character only had 240 when he obtained Dead Thrall) or level(my character was only about level 27 or 26).--Crazoter 22 Dec

Spectral Arrow[edit]

[1] What do you make of this? 81.233.217.129 16:46, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Might be a spell that is still in the game files, but was ultimately not implemented in the game. The guy in the video obviously used the "pbs" console command that gives you all spells. 178.201.17.154 23:47, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure, but after using it for a bit, I've noticed that single, double and dual-cast spectral arrows damages differ in an odd manner.

Effect of Skill[edit]

Does the skill level have any impact on the summoned creatures, their power, their duration? Or does it just impact what spells are available to you, what perks you can take and quest prerequisites?--Kratch 22:01, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Only perks impact the duration, power and/or health of summoned creatures, your spell level decreases all spell costs for the matching type of magic--193.252.26.70 09:14, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Necromancy[edit]

It is worth mentioning that the temporary reanimation spells burn out the corpse when done - but the Master level thrall spell does not. It is possible to reanimate the same corpse over and over again (though this spell is restricted to only human targets, so no permanent pet frost trolls, etc...).

It is also worth mentioning that reanimated corpses have inventory that they carry with them. This isn't very useful before permanent either, but pets will haul junk for you - giving the level 100 conjurer a potential two extra inventory bags to drag things around with. Note that it is inconvenient to manipulate this inventory space as well. You can neither talk to nor pickpocket thralls, so the only way to change their inventory around is to unsummon them (by summoning something else or by just killing them) and then reanimate.

Animated corpses will use weapons if given them but so far seem reluctant to change armour ;) Allaryin 23:14, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Thralls[edit]

Do the thralls [master level spells that are permanent until killed] have any other advantages ? For exaple are they stronger than their regular finite time spells ? Chimo. 02:43, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

I once had a potent Atronach, It was lightning. I suspect that it had something to do with my destruction level perks, since i have the perks for lighting, but not for ice, and my ice thrall was far weaker. (tested by summoning them both and attacking with neutral damge till one died, ice dies far quicker) However this is just speculation on my part and may apply to all atronachs, i do not know. Of course the fact that they don't disappear can be useful, but also very annonnying inside if they block your doorway...--Bign0se 13:59, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
Potent Atronachs are the result of the Elemental Potency perk. Destruction has no effect on Conjuration. Lord Irvine 17:26, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

An Ice Atronach is meant to be weaker than a Storm Atronach due Shock being more expensive.

I just experienced having trouble banishing a Flame Thrall with Expel Daedra. It took a duel cast of the spell to banish a Flame Thrall while a non-thrall Flame Atronach can be banished by a single-cast Banish Daedra.

Conjure dremora lord = sanguine rose summon dremora?[edit]

Is the conjure dremora summoned by the sanguine rose in Skyrim identical to the conjure dremora lord spell? (That is, does it conjure a dremora lord that's the same level as if you conjured it yourself?)

  • The dremora summoned by the staff is leveled. So if you're about level 14, it will summon Dremora Kynreeve, which are weaker than Dremora Lords. However, by level 30 or so, it will summon Dremora Markynaz, which are stronger. I don't know if the staff can summon Valkynaz.

Dead Thrall Bug[edit]

I've run into this problem a few times after casting Dead Thrall on a body and traveling around for a while, sometimes the thrall gets lost, wanders off, or otherwise gets left behind. When this happens, NPCs constantly remark on the player's apparent active spells. Conjuring other thralls or atronachs works normally, but doesn't dispel the dead thrall effect in the Active Effects list. After googling around for a while, I found the solution via console commands: "player.dispelallspells" will fix the issue.

Currently there is no fix for this issue on Xbox 360 or PS3.

If you go into Beast Form this effect will clear. This works for the Xbox 360.

Might also clear if you cast a cloak spell like flame cloak. I am on PC, so I am unable to check if this works for the console versions. --Berserkenstein 09:43, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

Confirmed. Cloak spell removed on PS3.

Casting cloaks worked for me on 360 as well Lord Eydvar 01:53, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Reanimate[edit]

Couls someone plaease tell me what level creatures can be reanimated? "Strong" or "Powerful" doesn't tell the level. E.GWhat level does "Strong" soul stand for? Broxigar 11:45, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Dead Thrall Exploit?[edit]

I love watching NPC's fight so I brought two Bandit Highwaymen to Riverwood. Made them naked, no weapons just a fist brawl. One of them ran off and grabbed a warhammer from the blacksmith and killed the other with It. Usually it was "stealing" but once I killed the bandit the item was cleared of its flag. This is a possible exploit to get weapons cleared, of to have weapons etc. "stolen" with no chance of you getting in trouble for it.

Soul Trap[edit]

Is it a crime to cast soul trap on a person?

It's assault, but in my experience the NPC will give you a warning (tested on guards).

Jail glitch with dead thrall?[edit]

I resurrected Movarth Piquine, the vampire, after looting his destruction robe from him. After using him for a while in just his tightly whiteys, I gave him an old black mages robe. I had checked through some forums, and it seemed to suggest that thralls couldn't have their armour changed, but I tried it anyway. Fast travelling to solitude made him put on his robe, and everything was gravy. Then, I got thrown in jail, and when I got out, my two thralls were still hanging about (I also had a frost atronach), but Movarth had changed into a rather fetching set of elven armour. I'm on Xbox, so I have no way of testing this properly, but would someone with a console try and work out what happened? Maybe the game just mucked itself up, but if theres some sort of exploitable glitch to change thrall armour in there somewhere, it might be worth it...

Thralls will reset their armor, which is pulled from a list, upon changing cells if you take their equipment. You can get them equipped with decent equipment by fully looting their corpse and changing cells and repeating if they get bad equipment. Better yet, you can take equipped unenchanted items from their corpse, upgrade it and enchant it and put it back on their corpse. Once you change cells they will equip their upgraded gear. --Berserkenstein 09:51, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

Summon Arniel's Shade[edit]

Has anyone observed Conjuration skill increase when using it? Since it doesn't cost any Magicka it would be a good way to level up your skill. 178.183.241.136 15:10, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Does anyone know what if any perks affect this spell? — Unsigned comment by 108.162.152.1 (talk) at 15:27 on 9 February 2012

Storm Thrall Bug[edit]

I summon a Flame Thrall, I get a Flame Thrall. I summon a Frost Thrall, I get a Frost Thrall. I summon a Storm Thrall, I get a Potent Storm Atronach? Where's the Storm Thrall? Lord Irvine 17:30, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

I've tested it, and it is indeed not the Storm Thrall mislabeled, because it doesn't regenerate it's health like the Frost Thrall and Flame Thrall. Lord Irvine 20:03, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

dead thrall suggestion[edit]

I think it would be better to make a page that stated hints on how to use deaad thrall like idea body(Vvardfell 03:42, 21 January 2012 (UTC))

I'm not sure what "idea body" is, but can you hit it into any of these pages? Minor Edits 03:46, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, it should be ideal body. None of the hint fit this.(Vvardfell 09:36, 21 January 2012 (UTC))

Storm Thrall : future patch ?[edit]

Just wanted to know if there is / will be a way to get real potent storm thralls instead of potent storm atronachs via a patch or at least something that console users could benefit from ? Because those weak and non-autohealing storm atronachs make me think that atronachs are definitely useless in comparison with well-armoured dead thralls or dremora lords. To have better storm atronachs with, who knows, better spells and higher health, could change my opinion ... and after all the perks I spent for those atronachs, I want my opinion to change ! --Gaija 21:36, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Dead Thrall Zombie[edit]

This might be somewhat out of place, however I found an incredibly useful Dead thrall to have around. Im sure it is a random encounter, but near the shipwreck of the winter war, there was 3 "soldiers" standing over the bodys of the dead imperials. One of them was an AMAZING mage, and I originally feared that she would be too strong to thrall, however she was not. She is a damage tank, and puts out HUGE amounts of damage in fireballs (which surprisingly ive never been hurt by) And can easily take 2-3 snow bears on her own. — Unsigned comment by Videogameruler (talkcontribs) at 17:25 on 12 February 2012

Reanimate Werewolves[edit]

Does Dead Thrall work on dead werewolves? Decause they were originally NPCs, just a thought.--VergilSparda 23:12, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

It worked but not all of them. i have seen a video about reanimating a dead werewolve(not killed by npc or player). But many living werewolves(alive at the begining of game) can't be reanimated link sinding(Vvardfell 09:24, 12 March 2012 (UTC))

flaming familiar damage[edit]

How many damage does they cause when they explode? (Vvardfell 12:53, 10 March 2012 (UTC))

Does anyone know how to work this out? Thanks

Summon Dragon Priest[edit]

Konariik does not summon a dragon priest. At least not with me. It only, on very rare occasions, fully heals my character. Is this some sort of bug? --VergilSparda 14:33, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

It's effect is that it sometimes heals you fully and, on even rarer occasions, summons a dragon priest. I don't know what the actual chance of it happening is though. Maybe you were just unlucky? RIM 15:11, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
I guess maybe I was just unlucky :/ But is it really worth being on the conjuration spell page? Because it's not technically a spell that the player can actually cast without use of the console etc. --VergilSparda 00:10, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
I see what you mean but I think the page should list any possible creatures that can be summoned by the player throughout the game. It should not be on the conjuration page if it is but it should be on the list of conjuration spell effects because it can be used by the player. RIM 08:36, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
If it's a possible effect of Konariik's enchantment then there needs to be a mention of it on the mask's page 130.184.55.63 21:55, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Conjure Bear Familiar[edit]

I just talked to Phinis Gestor and he was selling this tome for me. I googled it for any mods it might have been but I came up with nothing, but I'm not using any conjuration mods anyway so I don't know what could have done it. Can someone else check in on him to see if they have it there too? Just wondering if I should be allowed to use it, cause if it's not official I won't want to. PS - He was selling it when I had 49 Conjuration, and it's classed as an apprentice conjuration spell - riandrake 118.92.32.121 09:10, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Spectrial flame thrall[edit]

I had two flame thralls summoned I summoned Arniel's shade dispelling both thralls summoned a flame thrall and it appeared ghost like. — Unsigned comment by 67.210.177.86 (talk) on 18 August 2012

Spells that cannot be learned[edit]

What is the reason that the spells "Conjure Dragon Priest" and "Spectral Arrow" are included on this page? They cannot be learned by the player, and there are many more spells that are in the game, but not available to the player - so what makes those two spells worthy including in this list? --Alfwyn (talk) 20:11, 21 September 2012 (GMT)

Old question, but whatever. Conjure Dragon Priest can be used by the player with the Konahrik mask. And Spectral Arrow was likely intended to be used by the player but was removed from the game. You could make the argument that Spectral Arrow could be removed since it isn't in the final game as shipped. But Conjure Dragon Priest definitely is. As for other spells you can't learn, pretty much all of the rest of them are only used by NPCs/monsters/traps/etc. There may be other minor exceptions like this though. TheRealLurlock (talk) 16:06, 17 December 2012 (GMT)
Actually, looking into it I see another argument for Spectral Arrow. It has a Spell Tome. Even if that tome is never encountered in the game, it does exist in the CK. Those other non-available spells do not have tomes. TheRealLurlock (talk) 00:00, 19 December 2012 (GMT)

Dawnguard conjuration spells and perks[edit]

Are spells like the Wrathman summoning spell affected by perks like Dark Souls and Necromancy?--68.230.66.230 02:44, 16 December 2012 (GMT)

The Soul Cairn summons unfortunately aren't affected by Dark Souls, but they do benefit from Summoner, Necromancy and Twin Souls. Despite the spells behaving more like atronach summons, the atronach-specific spells have no effect on Soul Cairn summoning spells. Given that Mistmen have 490 health and Wrathmen have 800, Dark Souls' ineffectiveness is not too big a loss. 24.251.196.95 07:24, 26 January 2013 (GMT)

I've just added some of Talvas' spells from Dragonborn[edit]

I've only added lower-level spells, however, as the wizard I'm using to get his spell list does not use Conjuration and so he only has Novice and Apprentice spells available for sale. I suspect he has higher-level spells available for sale to higher Conjuration skill levels given that he's perfectly willing to sell Wall of Flames to this character. --Morrolan (talk) 19:49, 24 January 2013 (GMT)
