Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

At the end of The Silver Hand, you and Aela discover Skjor dead on the ground. You and Aela start your own personal vendetta by assassinating a Silver Hand leader at a radiant location.

All of the radiant locations contain good loot. See the appropriate location's page, listed above, to find out where the loot is. There are a lot of Silver Hand, though, and the leader is often a lot harder to kill. Once the leader is dead (explore the location like you would in a regular dungeon or camp) return to Aela in Jorrvaskr, and she will give you leveled gold and start the next quest, either Retrieval or Stealing Plans.

Reward[edit]

Levels Reward USLEEP Reward
1–9 100 100
10–19 150 150
20–29 300 200
30–39 300 250
40+ 300 300
Level is based on when the player completed the previous quest (or level one for the first quest), not the player's level when receiving the quest or its reward.
The reward amounts for radiant Companions quests do not progress as intended.

Bugs[edit]

  • This quest uses the Radiant Quest System to randomly generate a target location and waypoint for the objectives. In some cases the waypoint will lead to a random spot adjacent to the designated quest location. This is caused when you have previously killed the Silver Hand leader.
  • If the quest is given but no waypoint is provided, and killing all NPCs at given location does nothing, the quest is most likely not activated.
    • To see if any quest is active, type showquesttargets in the console in-game. Look for 'CR09', the ID for this quest.
    • If not there, yet the quest is clearly in your quest tab, the quest can be completed by simply writing completequest cr09 in the console in-game.
    • The quest completion should pop up, and returning to Aela should give you the follow-up quest in the Companion quest chain.
  • After returning and reporting to Aela, your quest will be acknowledged as complete in the journal, but it may remain in your active quest list. If this happens, Aela will not give you any further Silver Hand radiant quest to do (but will still give Skyrim:Animal Extermination quests). This bug can occurr with any Silver Hand radiant quest. ?

Quest Stages[edit]

Striking the Heart (CR09)
Stage Finishes Quest Journal Entry
10 We've heard rumors of a Silver Hand lieutenant camped at <Alias=Camp>. With <Alias.PronounObj=CampBoss> dead, their forces should weaken.
Objective 10: Assassinate the Silver Hand leader
20 I killed the Silver Hand leader at <Alias=Camp>.
Objective 20: Return to Aela
200 Finishes quest☑
  • The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 0, 1, 100.
Notes
  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage CR09 stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest CR09.
