Elytra with Felldew[edit]

Is anyone else having problems finding Elytra with Felldew on them? I'm not a high level, so I'm curious if that's why? Beth96.253.170.17 20:41, 18 December 2008 (EST)

The only Elytra who carry Felldew are those in and near Dunroot Burrow. In particular, before you enter Dunroot Burrow there is a single Elytra Hatchling outside the entrance who can be killed to obtain the Felldew necessary to enter the burrow. Your level shouldn't matter: there are variants of the Felldew-carrying Elytra that will appear even at level one. --NepheleTalk 21:05, 18 December 2008 (EST)

Felldew not there[edit]

Iv visited Dunroot Burrow and surrounding areas several times and I'm not getting the Elytra with the Felldew. Is this a glitch? Did I not follow the quest corrrectly? Kithlan has told me that the Chalice is loced in Dunrrot and I need to ingest Felldew to enter. Iv also been told its a poison. I'm playing a PS3 version of Game of the Year. Any suggestions? See this. It basically suggests to reload a savegame from prior to approaching the burrow and trying it again. There seems to be no better solution. --Timenn-<talk> 15:00, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
what if we don't have a savegame b4 we we started the quest? i have the same prob and it bugs me cuz this is a main quest... — Unsigned comment by 220.237.93.22 (talk) at 01:49 on 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Why do they behave strangely?[edit]

This may be simply me, but... I'm playing a PC version of SI and I found that Elytra behave oddly when I paralyze them. They are shaking, "breakdancing", like they have an epilepsy attack or something. When a paralyzing effect wears off, however, they stop behaving like that. Is it just me, or it happens to everyone? 95.49.112.76 09:59, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Not that you're checking back 10+ years later, but I don't think it's just you. I'm seeing the same thing on PC, 1.2.0416, Game of the Year edition. I have the archery perk that makes some shots paralyze the target, and those tend to make the Elytra shake/flail about/breakdance. If one is in that condition and I shoot it again, I only have about a 50% success rate with that shot actually landing, no matter where on their body I aim. Once the shaking stops and they stand up like normal, shooting them also works like normal again. Also, sometimes when I land the killing blow on one and it ragdolls, it will shake for a little while before finally settling down.
I don't know, but I suspect it has something to do with how the Havok physics interacts with their weird body shape. I remember something kind of similar happening on PS3 Skyrim when I shot one of the crouched-over Falmer; depending on where I shot them, they would sometimes spin head-over-heels a few times. 73.3.58.200 07:59, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Respawning Elytra[edit]

I arrived at Dunroot Burrow, killed the Elytra Hatchling and took its Felldew, and then discovered I was heavily loaded, so I fast-traveled to Bliss to sell off some things I didn't need. On fast-traveling back, I was attacked by another Elytra Hatchling, which ALSO had Felldew, so I ended up with two samples before going into the burrow. Glitch? Reproducible? --174.6.51.17 17:05, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

There's scripting to respawn the Elytra outside so that you don't accidentally break the quest by losing the felldew you need to get in. Robin Hoodtalk 05:52, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
