Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

After assisting Cyrodilic Collections this far, Kassandra asks you to help learn how to find the Remnant of Argon. She'll send you to Xukas, who will send you to meet Chime-Maker Shuvu at the Glade of Chimes.

Chime[edit]

Shuvu will send you to find the Remnant Chime at the Wither-Vault to the north. Inside that cave you'll find a named monster, Wither-Jaw, who has taken up residence. Bypass it by sneaking, or else kill it, to reach the Chime and return to Shuvu. When you return to the Glade with the Chime, you can overhear Shuvu's reaction to learning that Wither-Jaw had turned the vault into his lair:

Chime-Maker Shuvu: "A beast, nesting in the Wither-Vault? Soiling the chime? My rage-quill is engorged!"
Xukas: "Be calm, old Shuvu. No one wants to see that."

You can speak to Shuvu to assure him that the Chime is fine:

"The wind welcomes you, Xukas-friend. You have the Remnant Chime?
Please, settle an old lizard's spines. The beast Xukas mentioned. It did not gnaw or shed water on it, right?"
No. It seems fine. What happens now?
"Hist be praised!
Take the chime to the Listening-Tree, and hang it there. When you are ready, clutch this prayer-stone and focus. If your cause is just, the Hist will answer. If not? I guess we have to find a better place to bury this chime."
Listening Tree

Shuvu will ask you to hang the Chime on the nearby Listening Tree. No small amount of foreshadowing is present, looking at the Tree, as its branches are accessed by passing through a plant-based construction that looks remarkably like an Ayleid nexus gate. After praying, Xukas will send you to find Kassandra in Alten Meerhleel.

Murdered Friend[edit]

Arriving there, you'll find instead Famia Mercius, who will send you north to find Kassandra. She is at a Ruined Guardhouse, lamenting the loss of an associate of hers, Heetzasi. Check around for clues and you'll find his notes. It looks like he knew something about the Remnant you are looking for, and the Blackguards killed him for the information. Kassandra will send you to find Jaxsik-Orrn at Dead-Water Village.

Hunting Grounds and the Tomb[edit]

Jaxsik will be eager to hunt down more Blackguards, this time at what she calls the Hunting Grounds. Head east out of the village to meet her there. You'll need to find the bodies of three Blackguards to recover the grave-stakes they stole; simultaneously, destroy Bog-Blight fumers to incite them to murder even more Blackguards for you. Tsojei must surely be proud of you!

Voriplasm fountains in the tomb

Meeting Jaxsik at the main Blackguards camp, she'll send you to go fight Etra of the Many Spears at the Tomb of Many Spears. That cave is west of you. Head there, deal with Etra, pick up the special grave-stake he possesses, and meet Jaxsik back at her village. You'll find her in the Grave-Singer's Lodge. She will examine the stake, give you some additional information about finding it, and send you back to Lilmoth to wrap up the quest.

Notes[edit]

  • While Xukas states the Glade of Chimes is located west of Bright-Throat Village, it is actually located northwest.
  • Chime-Maker Shuvu won't exist in the Glade of Chimes before starting the quest or reaching the related objective.
    • He will, however, appear briefly if you have completed Empty Nest, where has a unique greeting, but disappears again between this quest and Empty Nest if you leave the area and come back later.
  • It's possible to sneak around Wither-Jaw and take the chime without battling it.
  • While the hint objective instructs you to be on the prayer mat when praying to the chime, the prompt to use the stone appears when not on the prayer mat as well.
  • The parts of Heetzasi's journal won't exist around his camp before reaching the related objective.
  • While the bloody rags have a quest marker above them, they don't count towards the "Search for Clues 0/3" counter; only the journal scraps do.
  • If you encounter another player who is on this quest while they are helping Jaxsik-Orrn investigate the camps in the hunting grounds, she will appear on your end as a Dead-Water Hunter.
  • The fumers won't exist in the camps before starting the quest or reaching the related objective.
  • Etra of the Many Spears won't exist in his tomb before starting the quest or reaching the related objective.

Bugs[edit]

  • The special dialogue spoken by Xukas spoken on the way to the Wither-Vault fails to play if he ceases to be your follower and then becomes your follower again by going out of and coming back into the follow range. ?
  • There is no animation when hanging up the chime on the Hist Tree.
  • Jaxsik-Orrn can be seen at the main Blackguards camp in the hunting grounds even before reaching the objective to meet her there. ?
  • Despite saying that she will join you again if you leave the hunting grounds while she is dismissed from being your follower, Jaxsik-Orrn doesn't become your follower again upon returning. ?

Now that the fumers are destroyed and the grave-stakes are recovered, Jaxsik-Orrn wants to explore the Blackguards' central camp. I should meet her there.
Objective: Go to the Main Blackguard Camp
I found Jaxsik-Orrn standing over two bodies. I should talk to her and see if she learned anything from them.
Objective: Talk to Jaxsik-Orrn
According to Jaxsik-Orrn, we might be able learn more about the Remnant of Argon from carvings on the grave-stake of a legendary Naga, Etra of the Many Spears. I need to kill Etra to claim his grave-stake.

Notes
* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
