Sinien

Sinien is a very optimistic Altmer member of the Mages Guild in Firsthold. She can be found inside the Mages Guildhall during the quest Breaking the Barrier. She considers the task of destroying the wards a way for you to see more of the town.

When Razum-dar sees you with the runed talisman, he will remark that you saw Sinien and that she is quite an optimistic fellow.

Breaking the Barrier[edit]

Even though the city is overrun with Daedra, she will greet you cheerily.

"Welcome to Firsthold! It's just so lovely this time of year."
I've been to nicer places.
"Ah, well. Don't suppose you have about a hundred blades behind you, no?
All right, then. Time you saw more of town."
What do I do?
"Two wards power the barrier around the castle. Here in the hall, we focus our will. Shape the tip of a spear.
Alone, we'd be no match for a Daedric Prince. Together, Estre's magics don't stand a chance."
Here in the hall? So, you won't be coming with me?
"You're a smart one! We'll need to stay here to power the ritual. You act as our focus, our agent in the world."
Focus?
"Take this talisman, find the wards. One's in the east wing of the city, the other in the west.
Just point, focus, and we'll do the rest."
I'll do my best, Sinien.
"Just remember, it will take a moment or two for the ritual to do its work. I'd clear out the Daedra first. Assuming you don't want to be eaten.
Oh, and say hello to Razzie for me!"

Asking about Razum-Dar:

Razum-dar is out there?
"Definitely! Didn't Urcelmo tell you? He's been trying to find weak points in the barrier for us.
When that thing goes down, he's sure to move up. I'd look for him in the inner courtyard—after your victory!"

As you disrupt the first ward, you can hear her voice saying:

Sinien: "Success! Just one more ward to go!"

Disrupting the second ward, her voice will direct you further:

Sinien: "The wards are down! Find Razum-dar! He'll get you moving."

After you destroyed the wards and before fighting Estre:

"Excellent! We couldn't have done it without you."

After completing the quest:

"Now we take down the portals! Take them all down."

Sever All Ties[edit]

You enter the Deadlands to hunt Estre with Urcelmo and Sinien. During battle, Sinien will try to reason with Estre to stop with no avail:

Sinien: "Estre! Stop this madness!"
High Kinlady Estre: "Madness? This is power! True power!"

After Estre is defeated, she'll say:

Sinien: "Destroy the stone. We'll see you back in Tamriel."

After you destroy the Sigil Stone, you can talk to her outside the portal:

"We're back! The High Kinlord is safe and Queen Ayrenn's alliance is secure.
Not bad for a day's work."

After speaking to Razum-dar and before speaking to Ayrenn:

"Do you think I should change my hair color? I'm thinking of something in a pink or green."

After you completed the quest by talking to the Queen, she'll say:

"Good working with you! Hope we meet again sometime less, you know, horrible."

Moonhenge's Tear[edit]

If you've helped Sinien before, she'll be beyond the portal. If not, Iniel will be your mage.

Sinien: "Captain Ethrel, look at me, we're going to make it through this."
Captain Ethrel: "You'll make it out of here, I know you will."
Sinien: "Captain … Captain! Damn it all."

Speak with Sinien.

"Looks like we only meet in horrible places! Did you bring the hundred blades this time?
No matter. You didn't need them in Firsthold."
Sinien? How'd you get here?
"The Queen sent me to check on our Bosmer allies, and a good thing, too. This whole forest is rife with corruption. I offered my assistance to Captain Ethrel when the Daedra came through the Moonhenge."
Where are the rest of the scouts?
"The Daedra scattered us soon after we got here. We need to find the others and close the portal before the Daedra organize."
How do we close the portal?
"I've been watching the Daedra closely. The commanders pass in and out of a gateway to the north, or what passes as north in this place.
If I had to guess, I'd say our Moonhenge has a twin on this plane."
What do you mean?
"The Moonhenge you came through was an Ayleid ruin. But where did they get the idea?
Find the keys the Dremora use to unlock the pillars that seal the gateway. I suspect we'll find the sigil stone that powers the portal through there."
Aren't you coming with me?
"Ha ha! Once again, you have your duty and I have mine. I'm going to clear the gateway entrance for you in the meantime. Send the others my way, if you find them."

When you arrive at the rendezvous point:

Sinien: "Glad you made it. Just hold the keys up to the pillars and we'll be on our way."

Speaking with her here:

"Use the keys on the pillars and we'll be on our way to Moonhenge. Well, this Moonhenge. Confusing, isn't it?"

She tells you about the sigil stone.

Sinien: "These crystals are powering a seal protecting the sigil stone. We're trying to break them, but it'll take time."

When the harvester spawns:

Nara: "What is that?"
Hazazi: "Focus! Our friend hunts for us."
Sinien: "We're trying to destroy the crystals protecting the sigil stone! Keep that abomination off of us!"

After you defeat the harvester:

Sinien: "We did it! You were amazing! Now let's get that sigil stone before the Daedra advance."

Speaking to her before taking the sigil stone:

"I decided that I liked my hair just the way it is."

Speaking to her after taking the sigil stone:

"Now there's just one more thing, but it's a doozy."
What else is there?
"Well, there is the matter of this Moonhenge. It seems to be connected in some way to the Moonhenge in Greenshade.
As long as it's here, all the Dremora would have to do to re-open the portal is replace the sigil stone. So we need to destroy it."
How do we destroy it?
"I created a scroll for just that purpose. Unfortunately, it requires the power of the sigil stone. As the sigil stone is destroyed, the portal will close for good. The person who casts the spell will be trapped here."
So I'll cast it./Why can't I stay behind and cast the spell?
"Stop right there. You've got more experience at saving the world than us. We're not leaving you to rot in Coldharbour."
[Intimidate]I won't leave anyone behind. Give me the scroll.
"You cannot be … you're serious. Fine. There may be a planar tear before the portal collapses.
You better come back."
Why can't we destroy the Moonhenge in Tamriel instead?/Why can't we destroy the Moonhenge in Tamriel?
"This spell, combined with the innate magical properties of the Moonhenge? This is Ayleid magic we're talking about. We might destroy the entire Valenwood."
So you want me to choose one of you to stay behind?
"Perceptive as ever. Frankly, you are the only one of us that we can't spare. For either of us to make the choice would only be self-serving.
But be quick. The portal began to collapse when we removed the stone. Soon, it will all be moot."
You stay, Sinien.
"Understood. Sir. It's … probably best that I cast the spell anyway."
Nara stays.
"Right. Nara has never shirked her duty."
Hazazi stays.
"Hazazi acts like he hates it, but he loves nothing more than serving the Dominion."
Paranarth stays.
"Understood. Paranarth is inexperienced, but loyal. She will do as she is told."
Azsu stays.
"Fearless Azsu. I don't wish this on anyone, but he'll give the Daedra a damn good fight."

If she's chosen, she'll hold the scroll up to read it.

Sinien: "Hope to see you again somewhere less … horrible."
