Laughs-at-All

Laughs-at-All is an Argonian comedian in search of inspiration found in the city of Kragenmoor. He's not very popular among the Dunmer audience, which consists of Tadis Arethi, Rornas Othralor and Edryn Dravel.

Related Quests[edit]

Dialogue[edit]

Before the related quest, you can speak with him between his jokes.

"The Dark Elves of Kragenmoor are a tough audience. They do not dip their tails in the River of Humor."
Is telling jokes a traditional Argonian pasttime?
"I am not a traditional Argonian. My egg-sister says that my part of the nest was kept too dry.
Perhaps that is why I yearn to immerse myself in the River of Humor."

The following routines can be overheard:

Laughs-at-All: "Be welcome and wallow in the River of Humor."
Laughs-at-All: "Avert your claws and stretch your tails."
Laughs-at-All: "What is worse than a Dark Elf slaver's whip?"
Laughs-at-All: "A Dark Elf slaver's wit."
Laughs-at-All: "Dark Elves are not very funny."
Laughs-at-All: "You are drying my scales audience."
Laughs-at-All: "Keep your teeth sharp."

Laughs-at-All: "Be welcome and wallow in the River of Humor."
Laughs-at-All: "Avert your claws and stretch your tails."
Laughs-at-All: "Have you heard the one about the Telvanni chef?
Laughs-at-All: "Her idea of a hot meal was burning down the tower."
Laughs-at-All: "The tower was consumed by a fireball, you see."
Laughs-at-All: "There is no moisture in your angry stares."
Laughs-at-All: "Stay moist, audience."

Quest-Related Events[edit]

After Aggressive Negotiations you will then be able to help out Laughs-at-All.

"My scales are dry with disappointment."
It doesn't seem like the crowd likes your routine.
"You are correct. The Dark Elves of Kragenmoor do not swim in the River of Humor.
I came here to delve into a nearby tomb, but the soldiers prevent my entry."
Why did you want to enter the tomb?
"I heard a whisper of a sacred Dark Elf performance. Those who performed it splashed in the River of Humor. And the Dark Elves … laughed.
If you tread the dust of the tomb, will you seek the rite for me?"
I'll see what I can do.

He will foreshadow a secret society related to the sacred performance:

"Don't eat any cooked trodh, Lukiul. Just tell me everything you hear about the sacred performance.
And ignore anything you hear about a secret society, or a death sentence."
Sorry, what was that about a death sentence?
"Rumors say the performance required precision. Performing it incorrectly was punishable by death. A mysterious order protected the rite, murdering anyone who performed it without care.
Of course, I'm sure those are just rumors."

Returning with the performance notes and learning some important things about them, you will have a choice on how to proceed.

"Do you bring moisture? What have you learned?"
I've returned from the tomb.
"Quickly, tell me of the sacred performance. Moisten my scales."
Actually, I didn't find anything in there. [Laughs-at-All lives]
"My scales are truly dry now, my friend. I erect the spine of regret.
Someday, I will cool my tail in the River of Humor. My quest continues."

If you choose to not give him the notes and exit out of the conversation before turning in the quest:

"Do you bring moisture? What have you learned?"
I'm sorry, but I didn't learn the performance. (Leads to quest completion dialogue)
One day, in full view of the n'wah, the mehra of Koal Canton …" [Laughs-at-All dies]
"You … are dulling my teeth. Please, does this go somewhere?"
Here. I wrote it all down. Just take my notes.
"I … do not understand these words. But their performance is said to have made Dark Elves writhe on the ground with laughter. Perhaps this will finally immerse me in the River of Humor.
Here we go."

If you choose to give him the notes and exit out of the conversation before turning in the quest:

"Do you bring moisture? What have you learned?"
Here. I wrote it all down. Take my notes. (Leads to quest completion dialogue)

Giving him the Notes[edit]

If you give Laughs-at-All the performance notes, a Mirthless Order Mage appears after the performance and kills Laughs-at-All.

Laughs-at-All: "Everyone, attend. I erect the spine of amusement."
Laughs-at-All: "This performance is an ancient one. Attend. Ahem."
Laughs-at-All: "One day, in full view of the n'wah, the mehra of Koal Canton crushed some muckspunge pulp into a netch's tentacles."
Laughs-at-All: "In response, the morag of Koal Canton released their kwama across the anmor and poured their shein upon the ground."
Laughs-at-All: "Only after the mehra was burned in a sujamma molag and put to the dagon was the mora safe to travel again."
Laughs-at-All: "Xuth, that made little sense."
Mirthless Order Mage: "Argonian! In the sacred name of the Mirthless, die!"
<The mage disintegrates Laughs-at-All with a fireball shot from his inferno staff.>
Lilvas Dravel: "Oh! That's terrible!"

Keeping the Notes From Him[edit]

If you do not give him the notes, he continues to perform his existing routine. If you speak to him after the quest, he'll say:

"Thank you again for your time on the river. One day, I hope to soothe my scales in the mud of laughter."

Cut Content[edit]

Cut dialogue implies that at one point, if you gave him the notes, he would have appeared as a ghost.

<The mage kills Laughs-at-All, whose ghost appears.>
Laughs-at-All: "Hey, maybe being a ghost won't be so bad. I'll be able to practice my act forever."
Lilvas Dravel: "Oh! That's terrible!"

This exchange is largely the same as it appears in the current patch, but Laughs-at-All has an additional line of dialogue.
