Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

The questgiver will greet you fondly. Skald Jakarl, for example, will say the following.

Jakarl: Hey there, traveler. Come to watch the trials? Or join perhaps?

Player: Join in?

Jakarl: Aye! Most come just to drink and dance, but a brave few come to earn the title of Geirmund's Guardian. If you're interested, talk to the Thane. He's our host, after all.

Player: I just might. (This starts the quest)

Jakarl: Good luck. You'll need it to pass the tests.

Speak to Thane Vofknir on the hill to the East, amidst a crowd of revelers.

Vofknir: Welcome to my home, friend. Get you some mead?

Player: I've heard about the challenge.

Vofknir:Ah! I thought you had the look of a champion about you. To earn the title and represent Gerimund's Hall, you must pass three tests. A test of might, a test of wit, and a test of spirit.

Player: What do I do?

Vofknir: Troll's blood, you are eager! Every year, members of my household proctor the tests. Seek them out, and they'll set you on the path.

Player: Who do I speak to?

Vofknir: Daljari holds the test of might. Irodi holds the test of wit, I think. And, yes, Widulf holds the test of spirit. Good luck!

You now have three objectives: Complete the Trial of the Body, Complete the Trial of the Spirit, and Complete the Trial of the Mind.

When you've done all three, Vofknir will be in front of Feasting Hall, not far from where you talked to him.

Vofknir: You've done it! Now, we name you to the crowd.

Player: I'm ready.

Vofknir: Now we celebrate. Follow me to the balcony.

"Everyone!"

Follow him inside, up the stairs, and onto the balcony. He'll begin his speech.

Vofknir: "Everyone! Today we add a new name to the Guardian rolls. A champion, standing here beside me, will watch over the Rift. Let us cheer this victory!"

But then a woman starts screaming. Help! Giants! Speak to her.

Runehild: What were we thinking?

Player: What's wrong?

Runehild: Jakaral. The skalds! They're trapped. Trapped in the giant camp!

This marks the end of the quest.

Notes
* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
