I found a keg containing wine with magical properties.

  1. Pour wine from the keg.
  2. Talk to Darva in Riften.
  3. Talk to Innarrek.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

In the first large room of the Fort Greenwall delve are a few bandits drinking out of a keg. You must kill the bandits and examine with the Suspicious Keg.

<There is something unusual about the keg the bandits were drinking from. For some reason, you feel compelled to pour a drink.>
<Pour some wine from the keg.>
<The desire to drink grows stronger as you pour the wine from the keg. The drink is clearly magically infused. Perhaps an alchemist in Riften can analyze it.>
I'd better take some of this wine with me.

At this point you are able to give in to temptation and drink the wine or put it away to take to an alchemist. If you choose to drink it until you blackout, the following will occur.

<The wine's aroma makes your mouth water in anticipation.>
<Drink the wine.>
<You drain the bottle. The wine makes you drunk quickly, but you're still thirsty.>
<Drink more wine.>
<The world around you is spinning wildly. You feel as if you're about to pass out, but you're still thirsty.
You're not sure if you'll wake up in the same place if you drink any more.>
<Drink even more wine.>

At this point you will blackout, and wake up in a bed inside the Fighters Guild in Riften. Darva will be standing over you.

Darva: "Oh good, you're awake! Can you talk?"

Speak to her.

"I was worried for a moment there. I gave you the antidote but then you passed out. I thought I mixed it wrong!"
What happened?
"I'm afraid you fell afoul of my self-replenishing wine. The bandits in Fort Greenwall stole it from a caravan last week."
Self-replenishing wine?
"Yes, I created it for my alchemical purposes. It's still experimental though, so it has some unintended effects."
Such as?
"It replenishes your thirst along with the wine, so you can't stop drinking it. We found you stumbling around outside Fort Greenwall."
I can't remember anything.
"You know, it's better this way. That poor cat. Some things you just can't unsee.
But I digress, our housecarl Innarrek wishes to speak to you, and I must get back to my work."

You now need to go find to Innarrek, he is located in the front room of the Fighters Guild hall. Speak to him.

"Your drunken exploits gave the bards much to work with. I think your battle with the giant will make a fine song. Still, I am sorry for this inconvenience."
What do you mean?
"I sent the caravan with Darva's wine down a road frequented by the bandits, in the hope that they would steal it and fall under its curse. I'm sorry you got caught in the trap as well.

This will complete the quest.


If you choose not to drink, or drink only some of the wine at the beggining of the quest, the following will occur.

<The wine's aroma makes your mouth water in anticipation.>
<Put the bottle away.>
<As you move to put the bottle away, your eyes are drawn to its clarity and color. Surely it wouldn't hurt to try a small taste.>
<Put the bottle away.>

You must now travel to Riften to find an alchemist. Once in Riften you need to make your way to the Scent of Serenity, go inside and talk to Darva.

"Don't fool with alchemy unless you know what you're doing!"
I found this strange wine in Fort Greenwall. Do you know what it is?
"Let's see ... oh, dear. Did you drink any of this?"
No.
"Oh, thank Vivec! This is my experiment in self-replenishing wine. Bandits stole it from my caravan a week ago."
Only once, though I had to resist the urge to drink more.
"What self-control! This is my experimental self-replenishing wine. Bandits stole it from my caravan a week ago."
Self-replenishing wine?
"Amazing, isn't it? It'll make me rich someday, if I can ever work out the wrinkles. There are ... unintended side effects."
Like what?
"Well, the wine replenishes itself, but it also replenishes your thirst. The more you drink, the more you want to drink, until you wake up the next town over, and everyone's calling you Mrs. Bedingfield.
Not that I speak from experience, of course."
Most of the bandits in Fort Greenwall were drinking it.
"Oh, my. At least we won't have to worry about raids for a while. Although that could get very strange.
Our housecarl Innarrek has been concerned about Fort Greenwall. You should tell him what happened."

Now you need to go to the Riften Fighters Guild and talk to Innarrek.

"I understand you attacked Fort Greenwall? Word travels fast in Riften, and I am eager to hear of your exploits."
I did, but the bandits were mostly drunk.
"My plan worked! I sent the caravan containing Darva's wine down a road frequented by the bandits, in the hope that they would steal it and fall under its curse. Thank you for clearing them out."

This will complete the quest.

The wine seems to encourage one to want more of it with every taste. I should consult with an alchemist in Riften to figure out its purpose. I'll probably find an alchemist in the Mages Guild.

I drank the wine until I blacked out, and woke up in Riften. I should talk to Darva to find out what happened.

The alchemist Darva, who'd devised the wine the bandits stole, said Riften's housecarl Innarrek is interested in Fort Greenwall. I should discuss what I found with him.
