If you haven't started the quest and you go outside, she will approach you saying "You realized you're walking into a warzone?"

Speaking to her:

"Welcome to Shinji's Scarp.
Once a quiet little village at the foot of the mountains—now the front line in the battle with the Ironhand Ogres."

How goes the battle?

"Well enough, but General Godrun says the ogre are planning a big push to break through the lines.
We've been recruiting outsiders. If you're comfortable on the battlefield, talk to the general in the house at the south end of the camp."

I'll speak to General Godrun.

Speaking to her after accepting the quest:

"General Godrun has commandered the house at the house at the south end of the camp.
There's plenty of work to go around. That's for sure."
