Jumping really high aint always that great. — Unsigned comment by Tomdude94 (talkcontribs)

Would you care to elaborate? It can get you in to places you can't go otherwise... --RpehTalk 04:06, 15 July 2007 (EDT)

Where is he?[edit]

I can't find this guy. Is it possible he was killed by an ogre, or mountain lion, or brown bear since he's outside...? - Some Random Person Obsessed with Oblivion.

Yes, it's very possible he was killed. Assuming you use PC, open the console with Shift + ~ and type "placeatme 000613B8", without the quotation marks. That'll put a copy of Torbern at your location. =) IWon'tFightUndead 00:08, 7 November 2007 (EST)
Yes, In my game I found his body along the path and a mountain lion roaming around nearby. Killed it and skinned it, but poor old Torbern was dead before I was able to save him. — Unsigned comment by 74.56.51.203 (talk)

Yeah, I have a problem.[edit]

I've gone to all of the trainers and for some reason the last two don't give the quest option "Training" what is going on? Also my acrobatics is at 44! Do I need to gain more acrobatics myself before I will be taught by a master?

Yes, you need to have a skill of at least 70 before anyone will give you the Master training reference. –RpehTCE 05:16, 25 February 2008 (EST)

How to reach Torbern[edit]

I tried yesterday this way, if anyone wants, should be added to the article.

  1. Fast travel to the Temple of the Ancestor Moths, (quest for the thieves guild).
  2. Follow the green quest marker directly (this could be a little hard, because you have to walk on the side of the mountain, keeping that on your left).
  3. You'll reach Kingscrest Caveern.
  4. Keep Kingcrest cavern on your right and continue travel on the right side of te mountain. Always remember to climb up as much as possibile, otherwise you'll find yourself "under" the camp.
  5. When the marker is just right of your position go down the mountain (be careful not to fall) and you'll find yourself in the middle of the camp.

Except that following the unmarked road that leads from the Temple of the Ancestor Moths to Aerin's camp is much easier and far less likely to get you lost. Given that the unmarked road is already mentioned in the article, I'm not sure how it will help readers to tell them to go mountain climbing instead. --NepheleTalk 20:15, 3 June 2008 (EDT)

Can there be a chance for Torbern or any trainer to be dead without it even putting it in the journal?[edit]

This is because I can't find Torbern at the camp and there is no update telling him that he's dead. Can the Cammona Tong's kill him because they go and sit on the chair at his camp every once in awhile. — Unsigned comment by 71.243.15.67 (talk)

Torbern doesn't generate a journal entry if he dies - the only two are at the start and when you meet him. It's entirely possible that something has killed him in your absence. It's unlikely that he has wandered away as all of his AI packages are related to the camp, but if you're on the PC you could try the console command player.moveto 613B9 to move to wherever he is now. –RpehTCE 12:43, 29 June 2008 (EDT)

He probably was killed, I forgot about the fact that you can make spells and do the master training quests and decided to do it for the ones who could possibly die outdoors since I wanted to do all quests, I'm not sure if it was the fighters guild ogres or whatever, but I'm 56 hours in and level 15 s maybe he did die :( this is my third playthrough and unfortunately, I am on an xbox 360. Thank you for the reply. Its just that I cant find his body. Yeah I saw a mountain lion nearby and I'm guessing it killed him, for a level 20 or 15 its sad he has only 50 health maybe fighting the mountain lion and jumping too far damaged him too much and killed him, oh well guess thats one trainer gone.

Not sure this should be changed[edit]

The article states that you may have to traverse some steep slopes, which could be challenging for a character with low Acrobatics. However, since you have to have a character with at least 70 Acrobatics to receive this quest, is this info useless? Mutated 02:13, 10 August 2008 (EDT)

Except you might not be here for training - you could just be exploring. Having said that, it probably shouldn't be there anyway - it's more appropriate for the location page. –RpehTCE 02:55, 10 August 2008 (EDT)
Decided to just remove the second half of the sentence and the Andre reference.

Patch[edit]

I think Bethesda should do another patch to fix this problem: put him in a different place, make him move as far as 2 yards away from camp, delete the lion and other creatures that can kill him, etc. If anyone can make this happen, please speak with them so we can get this guy back. — Unsigned comment by 68.38.104.21 (talk) on 6 June 2009

Bethesda won't release anything else for Oblivion in terms of patches. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 19:23, 6 June 2009 (EDT)

Sentence Structure[edit]

Please do not edit this sentence:

All other variants are wrong:

  • It is possible that he was killed by the nearby Mountain Lion.
  • It is possible that he can be killed by the nearby Mountain Lion.

This is an example of the present subjunctive mood in the English language. Since the sentence is expressing a possibility of future events happening, it is the best option for the sentence. Please do not alter it to one of the incorrect forms above. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 19:51, 6 June 2009 (EDT)

No matter how its written, the information is true for each and every one of the NPCs living in the wilderness, and unless the note provides some kind of information on how to prevent it (or at least some info on, where the lion spawns), I find it rather useless. Btw, "Mountain Lion" should be "mountain lion" with no capitals. Krusty 20:42, 6 June 2009 (EDT)
I think it could be added to all of them, rather than be removed. And I thought I fixed the capitalization, but I must have forgotten. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 21:03, 6 June 2009 (EDT)
I think so too, as long as it provides at least a bit of useful information - otherwise it must fall in under the category "common knowledge" and if we were to list all possibilities to each and every NPC, we could easily fill up all the pages. Btw, I just took the trip to Tobern's camp - and it was a bear I met. I don't even think it's a mountain lion, I think it's leveled. Krusty 21:20, 6 June 2009 (EDT)
Most likely is. I'll change it. However, some people forget that even the Masters can die, and I think they are the important ones to inform the readers about. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 21:34, 6 June 2009 (EDT)

dies[edit]

when i arrive at the camp where torbern is at, i see him sleeping all the time, he moves in his sleep. but when i wake him up to talk, he drops dead! i reload a save and try over and over to talk, but he randomly dies. also i hav waited till 12 am for his services (thats when he wakes up) and he gets out and dies. somebody help?

Different user here, I have this exact problem. No matter what I do, when I awake him, he drops dead. What's going on?

Console not working, ID mistake?[edit]

Hi, I've found Torbern long dead, (most probably happened when helping Rugbutt the orc). However I can't seem to do this "targeting" during the console, I click his body but no information is shown. So I try using his IDs 000613B9 and 000613B8 for resurrect.613B9 but it just tells me either "could not parse this line" or "unknown referenced object" the same happens for createfullactorcopy and enable. --78.149.199.122 10:53, 25 August 2014 (GMT)

You say you typed "resurrect.613B9". If this is exactly what you typed, then I think you input it incorrectly. I'm no expert on console commands, but I'm pretty sure you have to type "resurrect 000613B9". Hopefully the I provided can provide further help. •WoahBro►talk 16:46, 25 August 2014 (GMT)
