Boss Level Pod[edit]

  • This Fleshy Pod is arguably boss-level. My character just got 7 gold in it. Daimore 17:58, 17 October 2006 (EDT)

Even with boss-level containers, it is always possible to have bad luck and get next to nothing. On the other hand, I've looted this pod (namely the one in the lava chamber under the Fume Vaults) twice, and each time I got more 300 gold and a couple enchanted items. I'll check the construction set later just to be absolutely sure, but I'm pretty certain this is a boss-level pod. --Nephele 18:15, 17 October 2006 (EDT)

I confirmed in the construction set, this is a "DungOblivionBossSack02" with 10-25% chances of finding all types of items (magic armor, magic weapon, magic jewelry, staff, scroll, potions, soul gems, up to 750 gold, etc). You just had bad luck and only got the "gold change" that has a 95% probability of being there. --Nephele 12:50, 18 October 2006 (EDT)

Got it yesterday again and the 2 Pods that normally have those 2 nice weapons were empty except some bones in one of them. Not even the arrows with soultrap were there :( --190.72.221.194 10:37, 11 January 2009 (EST)

No need for island hopping[edit]

After swimming through lava and re-loading a few times, I realised that there is a much, much, much easier way to get to the secret cave, which is simply to head north from the starting area. There is a fallen war gate and a general collection of land masses, there's barely any need to get your feet singed. Plus, I checked the 'boss' pod - only got 5 gold! Enemy glitch in the main tower?[edit]

I wouldn't find this very notable if it hadn't happened to me twice so far in a playthrough in the exact same spot in this world. I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced it, as it can somewhat complicate a quick runthrough of this particular map, and might be notable if it is common enough. Now usually I get the hate weapons first in this world, and after it is done I open all the gates by climbing one tower and using the walkways to go to each in turn, then make my way to a lower tower. Usually I sneak when I get into the main tower for the first time, but some of the times I did not do that it happened to trigger this glitch; the enemy on the lower level would be alerted and then, as I made my way to and from the next tower, would somehow end up inside the walkway towards said tower. First time the Dremora could attack me and I couldn't hit it except with ranged magic[which killed it and its corpse fell through the walkway], second time was a Xivilai and it fell right through and to the ground, still alerted. I haven't seen this happen yet before. That is speaking as somehow who frequently visits Oblivion Worlds. But I know the enemy detection is always a bit unpredictable in the Main Towers (as well as the Sigillum Sanguis), so it's no surprise that creatures easily detect you. --Timenn-<talk> 13:27, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, it wasn't so odd the things detected me, as I was walking right over where they were without sneaking. The strange part was that when I came back from one of the peripheral towers the enemy would somehow have teleported to my level and in doing so would get stuck in the walkway between the main tower and the peripheral tower. I noticed there's not always an enemy in that spot, though. I went through it again today and there was nothing there to notice me. Griffinsong 18:57, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Backwards Map?[edit]

Am I misunderstanding something, or is our map backwards? For instance, R1 on the map is labelled as Tsunami in the article, but looking at it in-game, it's Eruption, which is labelled as L1 on the map. I think what's happened is that when the lettering was added to the map it was based on what's on the left/right side of the overhead map, instead of what's on the left/right side from an in-game perspective. In other words, when you enter the gate, Eruption is to your left, at what's currently labelled R1. The Construction Set also calls Eruption "OblivionRD002Tower01Left", and I think that's the source of the confusion.

Since we're not really worried about the Construction Set designations on our overhead map, I think the simplest solution is to keep the labels the same and just alter the text to match the labels. If someone can confirm that I'm not just hopelessly confused, I'll get on it. Robin Hoodtalk 06:34, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Got a question/problem with this fact on the main page[edit]

"There is a hidden bonus area in this world containing two leveled weapons and some boss-level loot. The weapons are there even if you have already been through this world before, making it possible to acquire multiple copies of the leveled weapons."

Clearly it is talking about hatreds soul and arrows. The way it is phrased almost implies that when the world resets, if you leave the gate and come back in 3 days, that there would be another hatreds soul and arrows. This, however, is not the case. Unless I read this wrong and other people who read this know that it is talking about OTHER random oblivion world 2s. Unless I'm wrong and you actually can gain multiple copies from the same oblivion gate that leads to world 2. dtm 09:46, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

You can gain a copy of Hatreds Soul every time you enter this world. It doesn't respawn, but the same world can appear many times. rpeh •TCE 09:59, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

Off the map[edit]

I was looking out at the sea of lava surrounding this map when I noticed that not too far out the lava seemed to get darker. I swam out to it, using healing pots to stay alive, and when I got to the darker area I realized it was land. Flat, unmarked, solid textured land. I ran in one direction and eventually came to a "cliff". It was really just a drop off where the land did not meet up with what was ahead. I jumped down, taking some fall damage, and continued to run. I came to a slant that seemed to go back up, but as soon as I reached it, I was transported back to where I had just jumped down. This happened a few times, then the slanting hill ceased to appear and I was simply left running accross endless, featureless land with no enemies, plants, hills, just flat ground and sky. I was running Vanilla Oblivion on Xbox 360. Has anything similar happened to anyone else? Shadowrose6663 00:58, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Update: I had saved just before jumping down, and when I reloaded it, there was a sea of lava where there had been nothing before, but in the screen capture it takes when you save, you can see no lava. Shadowrose6663 01:09, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Fume Vaults[edit]

What is the difference between the fixed The Fume Vaults in this Oblivion world and the random The Fume Vaults 04 cave? The two maps seem to differ slightly in one or two places, but everything else (at least on the wiki, I can't check in-game) appears to be identical. Should a "not to be confused with..." note be added? Legoless 16:13, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Can't access OW2 more than once per level[edit]

I have been doing a lot of boring, tedious testing, and (usually) opening OW2 once at a random gate prevents it from being opened again at another random gate (the gate at Fort Sutch is not affected and doesn't have an effect on the other gates). I can't explain one round of testing with the Fort Sutch gate where I got two random gates to open into OW2 (one before going through the Fort Sutch gate and one right after--all three accessed the secret cave and recovered the Hatreds weapons) but when I retested a day later (real time, not game time,) I was back to only one random gate opening OW2 for me.

There may be an in-game time factor (longer than three days) I don't know about, or my game may simply have glitched when I got that extra access (odd considering the number or saves and reloads I used). Does anyone have an explanation?

I did a quick test where I was allowed to open OW2 on level 20 at a gate that had refused me access on level 19, so I am assuming that leveling up resets whatever is blocking multiple access.Chicken Slayer (talk) 20:35, 9 March 2015 (GMT)

Update--the problem had to do with the fact that you cannot access the same random world twice in a row, and that quest gates are independent of random gates. So you can go through an OW2 at a random gate, then at Chorrol, then at Fort Sutch, but the next random gate sees the first random gate as it's predecessor, not either of the quest gates regardless of which OW the Fort Sutch gate opened into. If you open a gate into a different world after opening those three you can open OW2 at the next and every other gate after that. Chicken Slayer (talk) 00:24, 26 March 2015 (GMT)

Misspellings?[edit]

Why does "Landslide" have "[sic]" after it? It's spelled correctly. Landslide is one word, not two. "Eruption" also has a "[sic]" note, despite once again being spelled correctly. The "Landslide" and "Eruption" gate controls have a "[sic]" tag because the controls are mislabeled. The control in the Eruption tower opens the Eruption War Gate, but the control is labeled as the "Landslide Gate Control", which is clearly wrong. The same applies to the "Eruption", "Tornado", and "Tsunami" gate controls. It's not the spelling that the "[sic]" tag refers to, it's the fact that all of these gate controls are mislabeled. — Wolfborn(Howl) 02:57, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
