Watch Cuirass[edit]

The article states you can take the watch cuirass from the spawned dead guards. IS THIS TRUE?!!!! (please say it is)--LordDagon 12:12, 2 February 2008 (EST) (sorry i know it's stupid to tag your own question as one that needs to be answered, but i really want to know)

I can't, I can only take the gold, weapons, clothing, and shield. That's it. --Playjex 12:14, 2 February 2008 (EST)
I don't think it is possible. Even if you pick up the watch cuirass from the floor (can be done in a test cell, accessable by console command), it will not appear in your inventory, and it is impossible to equip, or even drop, it. It does, however, add to your encumberance, so if you do pick it up, you will find that it adds about 50-60 units of weight into your inventory. As for the guards, the armor (apart from the shield) can't be looted. It is like armor/robes on a dremora (not the high-leveled one that drops Daedric). So that's a no for your question. Vesna 13:52, 2 February 2008 (EST)
Allright, thought so already. I'l change the article to revert the changes of Bambobo. If you can't loot it, the article shouldent state you can.--LordDagon 03:32, 3 February 2008 (EST)
You can loot it. It has to be on Light The Dragonfires and has to be the dead guards who spawned dead, not who were killed.Bambobo 16:39, 3 February 2008 (EST)
Actually I've been searching on the gamefaqs boards and some people say its a hoax, others don't. Sorry I shouldn't have posted without checking but it may be possible.Bambobo 16:50, 3 February 2008 (EST)
Yeah, I don't trust anything on the GameFAQs forms, so until we have confirmation, I think it is a good idea to keep it off the page.--Ratwar 01:16, 4 February 2008 (EST)
It's not true in my experience. I did that quest yesterday, and none of the (dead) guards show any cuirass or other armor part. And the only spawned dead guards are in front of the palace entrance. Many others can be found dead before Dagon's feet, but they don't show their armor either.--LordDagon 07:17, 4 February 2008 (EST)
I read something about the armor they wear being tagged as 'unplayable' in the Construction Set, so you can never wear it. It is possible to spawn the armor with the console, although it will not actually show up in your inventory. - Korunox 19:18, 24 February 2008 (EST)
Which in turn supports the comment I made earlier. I vote we keep it off the page unless someone finds irrefutable proof otherwise. (Is irrefutable even a word???) Vesna 20:38, 24 February 2008 (EST)

Srry, I just didn't want to add more colons. I have no idea whether irrefutable is a word, could be though. Anyway, someone should look into the CS to see if there are any versions of this armor that do not have the 'unplayable' flag, if not then only a third-party mod may make you able to equip it. Even so, I don't think it should really be mentioned that a third-party mod might make it wearable, since that way everything is wearable (would be silly if we started making pages for a bunny-suit that a third-party mod may add^^). I say that, unless the CS contains a flag-less set, there's no way to equip the armor, thus it shouldn't be mentioned in the article;) - Korunox 20:50, 24 February 2008 (EST)

If you're talking about the Imperial Watch Cuirass, it can't be equipped. There's no version of it in the game that allows it to be worn by the player. (See this page.) –Eshetalk21:09, 24 February 2008 (EST)

Locked Door[edit]

Is there any way to get the key to the imperial palace guard quarters? I can't figure out how to get past that door! — Unsigned comment by 71.235.92.83 (talk)

Not until you're doing The Ultimate Heist and even then, not how you'd expect... –RpehTCE 04:38, 15 February 2008 (EST)

beeing a palace guard[edit]

i was wanted to be a palace guard but i couldn't find how to do it . Could you help me? — Unsigned comment by 193.255.88.109 (talk) on 15 August 2009

You can't, unless you can find a mod that will allow you to become one. –rpehTCE 13:16, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

So how does one wear Palace Guard armor?[edit]

Apparently all the palace guard armor is marked as non-playable, like the Dremora armor. So, then, how do you mark it as playable? What console code do you use? — Unsigned comment by 99.53.156.55 (talk) at 02:43 on 3 May 2010

The commands below should work.
player.additem ###### 1
player.equipitem ######
Repeat those two commands with each of the following in place of ######: 18AE4B, 18AE4C, 18AE4D, 18AE4E, 18AE4F, 653F7
These correspond to, in order: Imperial Watch Boots, Cuirass, Gauntlets, Greaves, Helmet, Shield
Note that because these are marked as non-playable, they won't show up in your inventory but they will show up on the player and will protect you appropriately (though you probably won't be able to repair them...I didn't try). To make the items fully functional, as far as I know you'd have to create a mod and mark all of them as playable. Robin HoodTalk 15:36, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

WERE TO GET A SHIELD WITHOUT KILLING A GUARD[edit]

Hey i was wondering since i am collecting all of the guard shields in the game, were can you get a pacace guard shield without killing them? Thanks — Unsigned comment by 99.126.198.197 (talk) on 1 April 2011

I did a quick in the CS and I could only find shields that were equipped on a guard. mxk101Talk 20:19, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
you can pick pocket one from a sleeping guard during the ultimate heist quest
