15 hp[edit]

I think the 15 hp is a bug. If you check the CS, all the other liches (except the summoned lich) have 15 mulitplied by the PC's level. For some reason, it's just 15 flat for Erandur-Vangaril. Makes him kinda wimpy for a lich. --Macros the Black 07:42, 20 February 2009 (EST)

Not really, if you think about his abilities, such as 25% Reflect Spell, 25% Resist Magic, 100% Resist Frost, his Shield spell... He isn’t quite challenging to kill with melee, I’ll give you that, but with magic he is quite tough. And also, he’s not going to sit there and let you attack him: he’s going to fight, and hard. --SerCenKing 07:57, 20 February 2009 (EST)
Yeah, but regular liches have all that and way more hp, which is why I said "for a lich" :P I think it's a mistake on Bethesda's part, they forgot to set him to gain hp as the PC levels. --Macros the Black 08:03, 20 February 2009 (EST)
Yep, you're probably right. But more than an error from Bethesda I think it was more or less intentional: if you have enetered Lost Boy Cavern you will know that there is an unfinished quest around the lich. It is probable that the developers ditched the idea and didn't bother editting the lich more. --SerCenKing 08:06, 20 February 2009 (EST)
There's also another possibility: that Vangaril actually did manage to cause considerable damage to the lich, to the point that it's still very weak when you meet it. After all, it starts out ethereal, and only becomes corporeal if you enter its home at a high level (which implies time passing)... so it might just be sinfully weak from becoming solid again. — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 13:22 on 7 September 2009
On hardcore difficulty you need to deal 90 hp damage. Anyway, I don't think it's a bug. I think this guy is supposed to be a pathetic version of a standard lich. The transformation probably didn't work as intended. WRFan 16:55, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Same as a lich?[edit]

I was wondering if Erandur-Vangaril classifies as a standard lich, but he's just renamed. Or is he a whole different creature who just LOOKS like a lich? — Unsigned comment by (talk) on 20 September 2009

If you read the page and follow the links, you will see that the answer is "no". Simply compare this article to what you find at Oblivion:Lich. Dr Jones 17:38, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
The template is clearly copied from that of a Lich, but there are minor differences...particularly the health level, as noted in the Bugs section. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 22:08, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
So if he were to be set as essential using the console, that would every make lich essential, and not him? — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 00:27 on 21 September 2009
I think you meant that the other way around. If he were set as essential using the console, then only he would be essential. Other liches would remain unaffected. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 01:12, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Awesome! I had been looking for a way to keep a lich as a pet by setting ownership and making it essential. Thanks. — Unsigned comment by (talk) on September 21, 2009

Drop list not quite correct[edit]

His loot table is not leveled (at least, not leveled for anything lower than L23, which may explain the level requirement for the fight.), and he has a chance to possess another weapon, possibly enchanted. Used the console to force a fight early, and his staff was a Greater Staff of Severing, and he had a Daedric Mace (Mace of Holy Light) as well. I was L2 when I forced the fight. 05:56, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

You must have a mod installed that has changed it then. The loot is definitely as described. rpeh •TCE 07:51, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Fix his health while you're at it[edit]

If you are playing on a PC and you're using the console fix anyway, you can just give him a more respectable health. setav health (15 X your current level)SirNotAppearing 02:05, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
