Is this added to the normal Willpower check, or is it a new resistance check? Lukish_ Tlk Cnt 09:54, 25 November 2008 (EST)

I would like to know this as well -Janmojzis
I suspect it's something to do with resistance to magic. I have noticed when jinxed with glass dagger and getting paralyzed, with about 40% resist to magic, 0% resist to paralysis and 45-50 in willpower my char never stay for whole 10 seconds as the effect should work, usually it's about 4-6 seconds, so i suspect this resistance backed up by resist to magic, and time can be shortened. As another example on NPC, when i shot paralysis 5s on target, different races react accordingly to their abilities and stats, usually they stay under spell only for 1-2 seconds, just for one hit, so obviously time can be reduced, and somehow dunmer NPC's managed to often resist the spell, maybe due to their high willpower. Not likely - Dunmer as a race are tied with Bosmer, Khajiit, and Redguard for the lowest willpower of all races. (Also Argonian and Imperial males.) You could try it on a Nord (female), Orc (male) or Breton (either), as they have the highest. Orcs and Bretons also have natural Resist Magicka on them, so a female Nord is your best bet if you want to see how much is attributable to willpower alone. Dunmer do have more speed than most races (tied with Bosmer), so maybe that is somehow taken into account. See Races for more details. --TheRealLurlock Talk 05:58, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
You're saying about starting stats, and i agree with it. but if you'll check in CS NPC stats, you'll see they have increase accordingly to their class and level (auto calculated). So, dunmer thief lvl 1-6 will have about 30-37 in willpower. Dunmer battlemage at lvl 16 will have 70 in willpower (aralosea romori), dunmer mage at lvl 12 will have 84 (arvamea dalvani), when Nord barbarian at the same levels will have something about 40-50, so can be paralyzed more easily than these dunmers. Still, all other things being equal, Dunmer are lower overall in Willpower. A Nord mage will always have more willpower than a Dunmer mage of the same level. So, yeah, you gotta take class and level into account as well. Obviously, there's way more Dunmer than anything else in Morrowind, so that might account for some discrepancy in data. But to say that Dunmer as a race have greater willpower than others is simply incorrect. --TheRealLurlock Talk 05:01, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
No, i'm not saying dunmer have more willpower than anyone, it's just like you pointed out, they are more common race. I believe any high level magic inclined NPC will have increased willpower and it will help them to resist spell effect. All NPC have the same static luck value, so the only stat that changes with level increase is willpower. Agility is to avoid melee attacks, speed is just for fast moving. However there's some exceptions to luck, like Fyr, who have 150 in all attributes. I still believe willpower and magic resistance work together to resist and shorten negative effect Oxyk 10:57, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Resist Paralysis Morrowind Code Patch[edit]

Morrowind Code Patch changes Resist Paralysis to a cost of 2.0 instead of 0.2 to be more in line with other resist effects. I just checked in TES Construction Set. Should this be noted? Lazy Waysef (talk) 00:55, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
