Hoodoc[edit]

Should Hoodoc be mentioned here? They're namedropped in an answer in Members of the Hew's Bane Thieves Guild Answer Your Questions. Though nothing is made clear of who they are, it is clear they are a deity. Understandably, including Hoodoc might be controversial given their origins in the Uutak Mythos, but I think including them here as "Hoodoc is an obscure entity rarely revered in Redguard culture" would fit the mention they have. With the mention of them I feel that an entry is warranted, but nothing more than that. I would support putting them on this page given the context. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 19:45, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
I'm mildly iffy on it, but they totally did acknowledge it there. I'm undecided.Tarponpet (talk) 20:03, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
I find this a difficult one. On one hand, I agree that its name is clearly acknowledged. However, on the other, this character doesn't necessarily know the gods at all, as it is specifically not worshipping any of them. I mean, even in the real world, it is common to repeat certain words when someone asks you a question. "What do you think of pinguins, okapi, and drop bears as pets?" "Okapi? Drop bears? We don't lock up any animals as pets in our country!" This doesn't mean drop bears are suddenly real. This is the only instance that this god is mentioned and I am not fully convinced it is notable enough in this specific context. --Ilaro (talk) 20:17, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
Potentially notably, we do have Mohi-Titona listed on Lore:People whose existence is similarly doubtable. Mindtrait0r (talk) 20:42, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
I pretty harshly disagree with including Hoodoc here, it was clearly just in reference to a fan's character, much like answerers referring to fan character names in their answers. --TheRockWithAMedicineCupOnHisHead (talk) 01:53, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
The difference is Mohi-Titona is actually mentioned in game as a supposed Queen of Akavir. Meanwhile Hoodoc is just like Rock said, akin to answers referring to fan names and the current consensus is that no, they're not lore/canon/whatever. Strong no against including anything of the sorts in lorespaces. CoolBlast3 (talk) 19:30, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

() I agree with Ilaro, Rock and CoolBlast here... People often try and "sneak" things in with questions like these. It's very clear from the phrasing that like Ilaro said, they are just repeating what was told to them, and being like.... "uhhh what?". They shouldn't even be mentioned, similarly to when the name of the asker gets mentioned in the answers. Jeancey (talk) 21:56, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
