Lord Zuuk, also known as the Lord Founder,[1] was a Kothringi originating from the Black Marsh active at the end of the First Era and beginning of the Second Era. He was a loyal servant, knight and confidant of Empress Tavia.[2] He founded the Kothringi settlement Zuuk in the region of Shadowfen.[1]

History[edit]

At the turn of the First and Second Era[edit]

Zuuk originated from the Black Marsh. At some point of his life, during late First Era he traveled to Cyrodiil and eventually became a knight and personal Imperial Guard of Empress Tavia. Little is known of Zuuk's time in the Imperial Palace, but his wealth, honor and generosity were renowned among the Kothringi.[1] He was also known for his fondness of Imperial fashion.[3] During Tavia's time in the prison in the Castle Giovesse he was a part of the Imperial Garrison of Gideon.[3] He was loyal servant, knight and confidant of his empress and was believed to be responsible for carrying her secret missives.[2]

In the early years of the Second Era after the fall of Reman Cyrodiil III he later returned to the Black Marsh and founded the settlement in the region of Shadowfen. It was built over the Temple of Sul, a Barsaebic Ayleid settlement which had been sacked during the Alessian Slave Rebellion.[4]

Legacy[edit]

The village of Zuuk, circa 2E 582

After the prosperity that lasted for five generations the settlement was given a new name to honor it's founder. From then onward it was known as Zuuk and its original name was lost to history.[1]

The inhabitants of Zuuk fell victim to the devastating Knahaten Flu, which wiped out the village in a single week in 2E 561. The sole survivor was a man named Drillk, who had become immune to the Flu by absorbing the power of a keystone that he had found in the Temple of Sul.[4]

Zuuk was a prominent character in the historical fiction novel 2920, The Last Year of the First Era. According to this account Empress Tavia plotted against her husband, Emperor Reman III and Zuuk as her loyal servant and confidant assisted her during that endeavor.[3]
