Stonehills is a mining community found in the region of Hjaalmarch, within the province of Skyrim. It is found east of Morthal. Stonehills contains Rockwallow Mine, which is a small iron mine and has been maintained by a long-running family of miners.[1]:448

History[edit]

During the Imperial Simulacrum in the late Third Era, the town of Stonehills was an active settlement. It was ruled by Duke Vlrarke, and it had a rivalry with Dragon Bridge.[2] Stonehills was neighbored by several settlements, including Dawnstar to the northeast, and Dunstad Grove to the southwest.[3]

Stonehills was founded as a bustling mining-town from a family in Hjaalmarch, the founder built a home where his successors lived to this day, by 4E 201, his great-granddaughter, Sorli the Builder administrated the settlement, which had been reduced to the single home and a campsite for the miners,[1]:439 after a couple decades of various wars.[1]:448 By then, it had also become a very profitable investment of Thane Bryling of Solitude, where the resources are promptly shipped to Solitude.[4][5] A giant camp dubbed Stonehill Bluff had propped up near the town by that time, with a bounty on the head of the giant wreaking havoc throughout the hold.[6] Powdered mammoth tusks were also taken from the camp to repair the White Phial.[7]
