Krosis was a high ranking member of the Dragon Cult, and a Dragon Priest in the Merethic Era.[1][2] After his demise, Krosis was entombed atop Shearpoint, and was reawakened from his slumber in the Fourth Era.[3] As a Dragon Priest, he was a powerful mage, also able to wield the Thu'um in battle.[4]

History[edit]

Krosis's mask (Skyrim)

Little is known of the past of Krosis. During the Merethic Era, Krosis ascended through the ranks of the Dragon Cult and achieved a high-ranking position within the organization, attaining the esteemed status of a Dragon Priest.[3][1] Like his fellow priests, he achieved lichdom by receiving eternal worship from his draugr servants.[5][6] It is said that due to his high rank, his dragon overlord bestowed upon him a magical iron mask,[7][8] which bestowed enhanced abilities in alchemy, archery, and lockpicking upon its wearer.[9]

During the Dragon War, the ancient Nords rebelled against the dragons and successfully defeated the Dragon Cult. The specific details of Krosis' involvement in the war remain unknown, but he was eventually entombed at the peak of Shearpoint, a mountain located in the Pale hold.[1][2][3]

Circa 4E 201, the Last Dragonborn journeyed to the summit of Shearpoint. There, they encountered awakened Krosis, engaging in a fierce battle that ultimately led to the dragon priest's defeat and demise. The Dragonborn emerged victorious, claiming the mask as their own.

Notes[edit]

  •   The inhabitants of Skyrim during the Dragon War were variously labeled Nords[10] and Atmorans.[11] The truth may lie somewhere in-between; while the two are considered distinct races,[12] the men living in the transition period between the terms' respective usage have been considered 'proto-Nords'.[13][14][15]
  • Krosis's name means Sorrow in the Dragon Language.[16][17][10]
