Endare was an Altmeri general that was active in the mid-Second Era. In life, she was a controversial figure that served in the early years of the First Aldmeri Dominion, during their expansion into the elden kingdom of Grahtwood. She was the commanding officer of the Jade Dragoons, an elite militia of Altmeri soldiers. It was through her leadership that she acquired the epithet of the Jade Butcher for her direct involvement in the massacre at Cormount.[1] In general, she was known for being extremely thorough, whether in the battlefield or not.[2]

History[edit]

The Battle of Cormount Memorial

Endare is a veteran fighter that has served the High Kingship of Summerset since at least the reign of High King Hidellith and before Queen Ayrenn was born.[3] At some point in time, she became the leader of the Jade Dragoons and traveled to the Kingdom of Grahtwood as part of Ayrenn's relief effort against the Blacksap Rebellion and to facilitate Aeradan Camoran's claim to the throne.[4][5] The General led the final assault on the rebellion's capital in Cormount.[1]

At the dead of night, they entered the city and were met with hostilities by the Bosmer, no matter their allegiance in the war. According to an account of the incident, the Jade Dragoons gathered their torches and razed the Valenwood forest, in clear violation of what the Wood Elves stood for, the Green Pact. Families fled their homes as the cavalry rounded up the children, forcing their parents to watch as they strangled them. The retaliation was led by Camoran Gorinir, who called upon the aid of the Green, but only found it poisoned by Endare's mages.[1] Even with Endare's victory over Cormount, the resistance survived and traveled underground, awaiting another chance to strike against the Aldmeri Dominion. For her effort in the conflict, General Endare had been widely recognized as a hero by the Dominion and its people.[1]

The Falinesti Winter Site

Ever since then, the Aldmeri Dominion had established their capital in nearby Elden Root. In 2E 582, General Endare and the Jade Dragoons were sent to the port town of Haven to assist the city guard in maintaining order. She arrived at the height of Fleet Day and at the peak of activity in Haven's port.[6] At some point, she learned about an ancient artifact known as Rajhin's Mantle, which was buried deep in the winter site of Falinesti. Endare and her garrison had left Haven for the northwest, leaving it completely defenseless.[6] At the winter site, they forced the Falinesti Faithful to excavate the entire area until they discovered some frozen ayleid ruins.[2] Once they did, they unearthed several Frost Trolls, who slaughtered most of the Jade Dragoons. Endare and a handful of survivors pressed onward into the ruins, Nairume's Prison.[7]

The guardian of the ruins, one of Rajhin's Shadow suspended them in the prison to guard against the invaders, turning them against each other in a cannibalistic frenzy. General Endare advanced further into the ruins and met the spirit, Nairume, who was specifically imprisoned here by Rajhin's Shadow. Despite this, Endare ignored her and traveled into the inner vault where she discovered the mantle. Once she took it, Endare became corrupted by its magic and turned on her own soldiers. An Agent of the Dominion tried to pursue her to stand down, but it was in vain and they had to strike down Endare. The Agent left the ruins with the mantle and freed the spirit from her prison. The mantle was purified of its evil magic and it was later used by Queen Ayrenn for her ratification ceremony.[8]
