The Aswala Stables is a town near the coast of the Alik'r Desert, in the province of Hammerfell near the port-town of Tava's Blessing. It is known for its expert horse-breeders, specifically regarding the Yokudan Chargers, an iconic breed of horse that comes from the main island of Akos Kasaz, on the lost continent of Yokuda.[1][2] It is also the home of the Aswala family of horse-breeders, known members of the Crowns.[3] Much like the larger cities such as Sentinel and Hallin's Stand, the town of Aswala Stables is overseen by a Grandee.[4]

History[edit]

The Aswala Stables are known for their family of horse-breeders of the Yokudan Charger, a breed that was brought by Yaghoub from Yokuda during the Ra Gada incursion in 1E 808.[5] Since then the horses have been used by Gallants of Hammerfell, a knightly order of Redguards that operate across the Alik'r Desert.[1]

The Aswala family, historically members of the Crowns were allies of the High Kingship that reigned from Sentinel during the Interregnum, specifically with the Forebears King Fahara'jad. The Yokudan Chargers that were supplied by the Aswala Stables were in constant demand in Sentinel, due to the shortage of camels. This deal with two opposing factions was orchestrated by Merric at-Aswala, member of the Fighters Guild, to further maintain the union of the parties at the time.[3]

However, in 2E 582, the Planemeld invasion had rippled across some of Tamriel's core regions, including the Alik'r Desert. The Order of the Black Worm had at one point seized control over the Aswala Stables, leaving the town in complete ruins, and at the center was the dark anchor of the Hollow Wastes. On several occasions, the Worm Cult attempted to connect the dark anchor to Coldharbour but their endeavors had been thwarted every time by passing adventurers and even the Fighters Guild.[6][7]
