AIOS,[2][3][4][5] (Automata Incarnum Overseer System),[1] also spelled Aios,[1][6] was a master factotum created by Sotha Sil to maintain and supervise substrata operations of the Clockwork City.[6][7]
History[edit]
AIOS was created by Sotha Sil, with the purpose of overseeing and managing critical operations within the Clockwork City.[1]
By 2E 582, multiple partitions of AIOS were strategically positioned within the Cogitum Centralis, and AIOS effectively carried out its duties until that point. When a threat from the Daedric Prince Nocturnal emerged to challenge the Clockwork City, AIOS played a role in aiding the Vestige and Proctor Luciana Pullo as they traversed through Cogitum Centralis to rescue Sotha Sil.[1][7]
Functions[edit]
Several partitions of AIOS were situated throughout the Cogitum Centralis, appearing as projections of factotums. Different partitions possessed distinct functions and capabilities; for instance, one of these partitions could only provide answers to class-seven queries. Other partition was not authorized to discuss fail-safe protocol. AIOS possessed the capability to recognize threats to Sotha Sil. At that time, it had already listed erasure, Numidium, and Almalexia as potential threats. Furthermore, it held a certain level of authority over Sotha Sil's defensive systems and possessed the capability to identify daedric corruption, entities, and artifacts.[1]
AIOS also could compile statistics, and was responsible for compiling data and creating logs on various subjects, such as a catalog of living residents of the Clockwork City, resident satisfaction ratings, wealth disparity analysis, and other matters like the occurrence of constabulary malfeasance, nutrition rating, copulation and morbidity rate effectiveness. Additionally, AIOS compiled topics such as Apostle Innovation and Publication Rate. It was capable of suggesting alterations to the Clockwork City functions, such as proposing the addition of another twelve minutes to daylight cycles to test a hypothesis that longer days increase the productivity of the Clockwork Apostles. It also compiled topics like the Imperfect Logistics Log, which verified the capacity of hired warriors for fighting the infamous Imperfect.[5][4]
AIOS emits signals to communicate with other factotums,[3] and is capable of pinpointing factotum locations and can identify when they are absent.[8] However, the range of the AIOS signal is limited and doesn't extend beyond the boundaries of the Clockwork City.[3]
AIOS can also record conversations of importance. One example of such transcripts was an interview with a prominent figure from the Clockwork City's Congress of Calibration, Provost Varuni Arvel. This transcript was titled AIOS vox-transcript 1066421: Provost Varuni Arvel character evaluation [Session 12].[2]
