Oritonde reads while on duty

Oritonde is an Imperial knight who watches over Hangman's Row, a part of the Imperial City Prison reserved for prisoners who are awaiting execution.

Oritonde can always be found in his office, sitting and reading a book.

While he's on duty, Oritonde wears Legion cuirass and greaves, and leather boots, and is armed with a silver mace. He carries a set of lower-class clothing for when he's off-duty, as well as a prison key and a Watch key, a book of jokes, and a sweetroll.

Talking to Oritonde will make him feel disturbed in his work and he will react annoyed: "Excuse me! I'm trying to read..."

Quest Dialogue[edit]

During the quest Gold Horse City to City Deliveries, one of your deliveries will lead you into the Imperial City to Hangman's Row, which Oritonde guards. Talk to him about the delivery, and he will joke: "Prisoners aren't usually allowed packages. I'll have to confiscate this fruitcake, I'm afraid."

During the quest New Recruits, while searching for new members for the Rangers Guild, you may ask Oritonde about the whereabouts of Jurno and Sylori Amatius, the two possible candidates from the Imperial City. Regardless of who you ask about, however, he won't be of much help: "I'm afraid I don't know who that is."

During the quest A Growing Guild Expands, after taking care of the three pirate ships in Anvil Bay as part of the deal with Countess Umbranox, you'll be surprisingly thrown into the local prison. However, as soon as you are asleep, you'll wake up in Hangman's Row, where an Unknown Man has taken you. After being enlightened by him, you can ask Oritonde to release you from prison: "I'd been informed a prisoner was being released today. Sure is unusual. Once you're on Hangman's Row, that's it, normally, you'll be in your cell until your hanging comes around. Apparently you were brought here by mistake, I do hope you didn't find the stay too hard. Well, the key to the gates is here on the table beside me, you go on now so I can get back to my book." If you don't understand and ask again, he'll get grumpy: "Didn't I already tell you? The key's right there on the table, now leave me to my book."
