Xbox[edit]

noticed your comments on my page, do you recall blocking ip adress 194.80.21.10 for uploading phrases such as "nellan is g** and loves trains"? you may have noticed that the ip address was that of a pubilc school which explains why both users were on the same ip adress, the student who comitted the original vandalism went on to create several accounts to bypass the block (i was somewhat confused as to why you allow people to create accounts from a blocked ip adress by the way), anyway back to the point, the user Xbox and i both attend the same school and have ICT in the same class, (he started all this nosense to get at me so i suppose it's partly my fault), so when i saw him messing about again i felt i should make an effort to stop it. Once again i apologize for any trouble this may have caused.

Yeah, I didn't think it was you, just noticed that you were on the same IP. Only now did I check and see that it was me that blocked this before. Normally we do prevent account creation, but in this case, there was concern that it was a shared school account and this would affect other people as well. You could report this guy to the school since you know who he is, but the odds are that it would just result in the school blocking UESP. Anyhow, thanks for keeping up on this guy. If you think we should do a full block to prevent account creation, let me know. I did mention this issue to my one of ICT teacher's, she talked about restricting the internet access of the students concerned, that might partially resolve things, but he mentioned that he would probably just carry on at home, also you might want to keep an eye on Benny220, he was messing about as well but to a lesser extent.

Userboxes (Again).[edit]

Well, you're the expert here, so I'm just here to find out whether it is possible to change the text colour on a Userbox. Can I do it, or must it remain black? Icons[edit]

Hi, some of the item icons you have uploaded recently are not of very good quality. You can clearly see that they suffer from aliasing, while others don't. Look at Morrowind:Artifacts/new to see what I mean. I guess it may be possible to polish them in a batch to save you from a lot of manual tweaking. --DrPhoton 04:02, 13 December 2007 (EST)

The icons are no worse than the ones that appear in the game, because I haven't really done anything to them, other than converting the original TGAs to PNGs and some minor color correction, since the originals are often very dark. A few of them could use a bit more work, I suppose, but given the sheer number of them, I've just been concentrating on getting them all up there for now. Spending the extra time to clean up would turn this into a far more major job than it currently is, since it would mean I'd have to look at them all individually and make hundreds of judgement calls as to which need more personal attention and so forth. Most of the icons are fine from where I stand, so the few cases where they aren't so pretty, maybe they can be fixed after the fact. --TheRealLurlock Talk 11:37, 13 December 2007 (EST)
OK, I have found which are the "good" icons and which are the "bad" ones. In the BSA file or the CS disk, the icons starting with tx_ are the good ones, while the icons starting with w_ for weapons, a_ for armor, etc. are the bad ones. For some reason, these last icons suffer from aliasing. Fortunately, these are not the majority, but are quite a few. So basically, we're just talking about the Artifact ones? Those seem to be the only ones that have the W_ or A_ prefix. Personally, I'm not seeing that much of a problem with any of them, but that could just be because my monitor is slightly blurry, and has a sort of "built-in" anti-aliasing. I'm guessing you're using an LCD? (I've got two CRTs, and it doesn't seem to be a problem on either of them.) As for cleanup, you could just post a list of the ones you think are a problem, and I'll see what I can do. MW Spell Merchants[edit]

Okay, I just came across a double effect spell. I've fixed it with the br line and it looks like Arielle_Phiencel's Shadow Weave spell (under illusion). Is that what it should look like or is there another complex template to solve it? I just want to know before I do any more and possibly have to go back and change them all.... No, that's perfect. One thing I just remembered looking at this though - if adding the ==Spells== header causes there to now be 4 headers on the page, (due to the 3 existing ones from the quests), you should add a __NOTOC__ to the top of the page somewhere.
Oh, and while we're just doing general cleanup, whenever you see a MW NPC page where the ID is the same as the character's name, only in lower-case (e.g. Arielle Phiencel's ID is just "arielle phiencel"), you can delete the ID line, because the NPC Summary can do that automatically. (Only delete the line if the ID is spelled exactly the same and in lower-case. This applies to almost everyone, but a few people have upper-case IDs, or a spelling that doesn't match, etc.) You can also get rid of the "-mw" from any NeedsImage, Stub, etc. tags. None of this has a visible effect, but might as well get rid of obsolete code while we can. Anyhow, good job on that one, looks like you shouldn't have too many more problems. --TheRealLurlock Talk 18:33, 17 December 2007 (EST)

Names in Morrowind[edit]

I've begun playing Morrowind (Xbox) again recently. Something about the name Dagon-Fel has always sounded familiar and I realized why that was last night.

In the Bible, 1 Samuel 5 mentions the Philistine god Dagon. ...He goes on to fall, repeatedly even. It could be said, then, that Dagon fell.

From biblegateway.com: 1 After the Philistines had captured the ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. 2 Then they carried the ark into Dagon's temple and set it beside Dagon. 3 When the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the LORD! They took Dagon and put him back in his place. 4 But the following morning when they rose, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the LORD! His head and hands had been broken off and were lying on the threshold; only his body remained. 5 That is why to this day neither the priests of Dagon nor any others who enter Dagon's temple at Ashdod step on the threshold.

Interesting in that it might serve as an origin for the name, but I don't see that the Biblical Dagon is necessarily the same as Mehrunes Dagon. At any rate, the "Fel" in "Dagon Fel" we know means "City" in Dwemer. See Hammerfell, Vvardenfell, Bal Fell, Volenfell, etc. Despite the spelling, it has nothing to do with the English word "Fell". At any rate, it's not an Easter Egg - at least not as it pertains to Morrowind, since the words "Dagon" and "Fel" both had meaning in the Elder Scrolls universe prior to being used together in the name of that town. --TheRealLurlock Talk 10:26, 22 December 2007 (EST)
I just noticed, Wikipedia actually has some good info on Dagon. It also says: In the video-game "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion", the main antagonist, the Daedric Prince of Destruction, Change, Revolution, Energy, and Ambition is named Mehrunes Dagon. Need Your Help...[edit]

Hey Lurlock, could you do something for me? I need to confirm the species information on a few Morrowind Creatures pages, particularly Morrowind:Vivec (god), Morrowind:Yagrum Bagarn, and Tribunal:Almalexia. Their species was originally listed as "N/A," but they've been changed recently and I can't figure out how to double-check the information. I set them to N/A because they're special cases. Sure, I could put "Dwemer" for Yagrum, and "God" for Vivec and Almalexia, but they'd be the only ones in their respective categories, since they're unique. I specifically set the Creature Summary up to not add a Species category if it was set to N/A just for these cases.
