Wanted references[edit]

I'd appreciate any help finding references for the list below. If you find them, then just post a link to the book below the list. Cheers.

  • All Infernal City + Lord of Souls references should be more specific with page numbers+paragraphs. I'm reading through the novels myself
  • Elsweyr seceding immediately after Black Marsh + specific year
  • The Empire abandoning Morrowind as an Imperial province
  • High King ceding control of Solstheim to Morrowind

TIL and LOS sources should use chapters; there are many versions of the books with different page lengths making it impossible to have a page number or paragraph be right for everyone.
The only reference for Elsweyr seceding after Black Marsh is TIC, and I don't think it says when (specific date), just that they did at that time.
The Empire "lost" Morrowind when it pulled its legions out of the province during the Oblivion Crisis, I'm not sure where the sources are (could even be rumors in Oblivion), but that's when. After that it was in state of utter catastrophe and unfit to operate as anything due to the Red Year and the Argonian invasion, and then Umbriel. I don't think it was ever abandoned as a province (ie not a part of the Empire) though, even if it isn't mentioned as part of it in later texts (more a case of "not worthy of consideration"). There is, however, specific mention that the Empire only controls Cyrodiil, Skyrim, and High Rock, after Hammerfell's secession.
The History of Raven Rock Vol II, and Decree of Monument are the pertinent references for Skyrim giving Solstheim to the Dunmer. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:53, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
Great, thanks a bunch, I really appreciate it! --Rezalon (talk) 20:34, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

More references wanted:

  • Accession War referred to as the Argonian Invasion (source on Accession War refers to dialogue from DB:Dreyla Alor but there is no dialogue on her page referencing an Argonian Invasion)

Another Researcher![edit]

Yooo, awesome to see someone else interested in Dragonblood. Feel free to ask any questions you have with how I conducted my page. Mindtrait0r (talk) 19:08, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Glad to have a fellow scholar :D one thing I'm most concerned about is direct references vs. implications. For example, we understand Alessia and her son were absolutely Dragonborn, and a couple of the other Alessian rulers became a part of the oversoul of the Amulet of Kings, but are there any direct references to the other Alessian rulers being of the dragon blood? Is there anything that outright says they were, anything about the Dragonfires, or is it all simply implied because they just happened to be rulers between the time of the beginning of human rule, with the covenant with Akatosh, and the Interregnum throughout the Second Era? --Rezalon (talk) 13:31, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, I did use some assumptions in my page. I have my justifications underneath in my Close Calls section, among them is my reasoning for Gorieus which is pretty much as you described. Because he came after Belharza and before Hestra, both were confirmed Dragonborn, and he bore the title of Emperor, I made the assumption that he is Dragonborn as well. As for Ami-El, the same applies to him, but he is also stated in unofficial lore to be the son of Belharza, which checks out with what we know is present in the Bethesda internal timeline. Looking back on Herda, it is a fairly large reach to include her on the list... I might remove her. I think it is stated that the last Alessian Emperor came far before her, so it is equally possible that she was one of the last rulers to have the Amulet and that she was just a pretender / warlord.
In general, I think any list of Dragonborn has to be driven by the opinion of the writer, as there are too many variables in stuff like hereditary or not, dragonblood vs dragonborn, fringe cases like ysmir, etc. I stand by my results with what little concrete evidence we have an tried to form my opinions around those fragments. For another tidbit, unlike Kastav, Brazollus Dor is confirmed to be Reman III's ancestor in 2920, The Last Year of the First Era's First Seed chapter. Mindtrait0r (talk) 16:00, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks! I hardly ever read any of the actual in-universe books, so your knowledge here is greatly appreciated. --Rezalon (talk) 16:09, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
