Welcome and Advice[edit]

Hi, Azeg-Rael! Welcome to the wiki. It's good that you want to help out with the Oblivion NPC Redesign, but can I suggest you take a look at pages like Jeanne Frasoric and Salmo before starting? I've reverted the changes you made to the Lucien Lachance page because we're trying to get a similar format on all NPC pages and your edit was very different to what has been agreed. If you want to redo Lucien's page in a more standard style, that would be great! Please ask if there's anything you would like to know. Thanks. –RpehTCE 03:34, 30 March 2009 (EDT)

NPC Redesign[edit]

Hi again. The latest pages you've done are great - just what we want! One extra thing though: please could you update the tag at the top of each page to indicate the bits you've done? Take a look at this - I updated the Belisarius page to show that you'd done the inventory, schedule and dialogue. See this page for full details of the available tags. Good to have you on the project! –RpehTCE 00:43, 31 March 2009 (EDT)

Hi there! Welcome to the project - there's a lot of work to be done and I can see, youre already getting busy. Good to have you on board! I have a question for you, though; How do you write the pages? Do you use the CS or are you writing them from experiences In-game? The reason I ask is, that the schedules, inventory, ect ect should be checked by another member, using the opposite method of which the page is written (Example; If you write a schedule from the CS, somebody like ME should check it In-game). Since I'm purely in-game (PS3 user), it's probably going to be me checking your writing - that is, if youre doing it from the CS? Let me know, and I'll check your two new pages ASAP.
On a similar note - if you have ANY questions about the project, feel free to ask them! I just joined the wiki, and I have asked TONS of stupid questions, and believe me, it's better to ask than to see all your work being deleted. In case you need a quick answer, log-in to the IRC (Chatroom), where you just might find me, Rpeh, Timenn or another member who might be able to help you out ASAP. Krusty 04:45, 31 March 2009 (EDT)
Thank you so much for your reply - it's not really necessary for you to write your answer on my talk page, as I have this page marked on my watchlist, but nevermind. It's good, that you are in-game, but keep in mind that it's tricky to do a correct in-game schedule. There's a whole list of tricks to know (I learned them the hard way, and followed 30+ NPCs around before I started writing) if you wanna do a correct schedule in-game, and it takes some time to learn the game mechanics. Now, keep in mind, that I'm trying to help you do correct pages - and keep in mind, that the CS checker will butcher your schedules in seconds, if theyre not correct. They are free to do so, and so is anyone else.
What I am trying to say is this; Your schedule for Belisarius is not correct. Not even close. A few days ago, before your reply, I assumed that you wrote his schedule the CS way, and did a check on him. And, to be honest, I checked out your page many times to see, if it was the same guy as I was following. Now, since youre doing good writing, and because you are the only one besides me, who have the patience to follow NPCs around, I didn't rewrite it - but it will be, and it should be. I suggest you take another look at him - and that you start when he is sleeping (which is between 8pm and midnight) and then follow him. Closely! No cheating. If youre sick and tired of following him on his patrol, then pause the game and continue later. The "wait"-option is the worst thing you can use, as this will screw up everything. If you loose him, when he patrols the interior of the Temple, reload from last autosave. If he gets stuck in the dinner room, reload. Always keep an eye on the time, because he WILL stop to talk with the other guards, and that is random. Everything can go wrong, and it takes tons of patience. Again, I'm not writing this to annoy you, but to make you understand the in-game schematics a bit better. Also, there's no such thing as "around 3am". All NPCs have cues at exact times, and it should be written that way - and when they lie down, they're asleep!
Good luck - and be patient! Krusty 18:03, 1 April 2009 (EDT)
Belisarius was a trial run. I did as you suggested from the get go. What screwed me over was that at one point during the day I lost him, so I did that infamous Waiting. With Fortis and Pelagius I think I nailed it because I never lost track of them and they have two jobs: spar and sleep. I threw in the "chat" comment because i followed both of them separately and they always seem to chat between 5 and 6 AM before they begin sparring (they're on their way to sparring area and stand around until they officially start at 6... maybe a way to cover tracks, I don't know.)
As I said, feel free to edit the schedules as necessary. That's the point of wikis. I don't always have it right, so feel free to tweak the pages I work on as you deem necessary. Thanks for the advice.
