The Discussion Board[edit]

This site has helped me so much in quests, so I thought I would join and help give information. Thanks! gruen.laoch 1:36, 20 September 2006 (MDT)

Maybe add a conflicting quest guide? I've found this to be extremely helpful in making sure that I don't need to restart the game because I offed the wrong guy. The one I've been using can be found here under "Conflicting Quest Guide". I don't know if he'd be willing to sign over his guide to a Creative Commons license though, so we'd have to start from scratch.Werdnanoslen 21:29, 24 August 2006 (EDT)

Concerning what I like about the site: I've found the UESP site to be an invaluable resource. It has greatly increased my enjoyment of Morrowind and Oblivion. Thank you! In regards to improvements and suggestions: I fear I have nothing of consequence.

This is a truly splendid source of information! The designer in me isn't to keen on the looks though. Some Tamriel-esque css styling would be sweet. Of course this may detract from / cheapen the content...

I've thought about working on a 'better' CSS and the Wiki makes its easy to switch from one style to another. In the overall scheme of things, however, a new CSS is very low down the list so it never gets done. If someone was to make one, however, I'm sure it would be used (wink-wink). -- DaveH 11:52, 16 August 2006 (EDT)
You can customize the look of the site by editing the Monoskin.css/js and Common.css/js files under your namespace. Administrators can globally customize the look of the site by editing those files under the MediaWiki namespace. --Aristeo 14:24, 16 August 2006 (EDT)

In my humble opinion this site is THE central point for all gaming concerning 'the elder scroll pages'. And we should do all to make it even more so! Thanks to the guys who initiated this site, and the many hours they put in to make our playing the games much more enjoyable. Thanks to all who have contributed by adding all the info. The amount of data is massive. No additional comments or suggestions.

This is truely the source for all es games but i think the idea of a conflict guide would be good as i am somewhat of a perfectionist who wants to be able to do everything in one play through which i no you cant really do but its fun to try.

I love this site! Between this, and the actual developer site, I've been able to find everything I need to get the most from the Elder scrolls series. The only thing that I found confusing was the menu at the left, entitled "game pages". It lists all the games, including the things that are kinda add-ons, all together. This layout led me to believe that there were many more games in the Elder Scrolls series than there actually are, and when you view the pages, it's not very clear that they're just expansion packs for existing games. I think it might be cool to indent the expansion-games, and the semi-expansions like Battlespire and Redguard, i.e.:

  • Arena
  • Daggerfall
  • - Battlespire
  • - Redguard
  • Morrowind
  • - Tribunal
  • - Bloodmoon
  • Oblivion
  • Tamriel

Maybe that's being pedantic, but it might make things more clear : ) .

In addition to this, Tamriel is obviously not a game, so should it really be in the list of game sites?

Frankly, I would like to voice my support of the above-commentator in regards to the organization of the sidebar. That much having been said, while I support the indentation (or minor-indentation) of the true expansions (Tribunal and Bloodmoon), the layout above makes it appear as though Battlespire and Redguard are both expansions of Daggerfall, thus, I would approve of a "game pages" category like that which follows with greater zeal:
  • Arena
  • Daggerfall
  • Morrowind
  • Tribunal
  • Bloodmoon
  • Oblivion

(Space here...)

  • Battlespire
  • Redguard
  • Shadowkey
  • Dawnstar
And the addition of a (for instance) "world" category encompassing...say:
  • Akavir
  • Aldmeris
  • Atmora
  • Pyandonea
  • Tamriel
  • Thras
  • Yokuda

Unfortunately, Tribunal and Bloodmoon can't be indented. I've always suggested that the Tribunal and Bloodmoon namespaces be merged into Morrowind. --Aristeo 09:41, 23 August 2006 (EDT)

One thing that I can comment on that would improve the wiki is possible scans/screenshots of the dungeon layouts. One idea how, is using the diary view, it would be possible to screenshot, move the view, screenshot, etc. then photoshop the images together to form a map of each dungeon floor. It may become difficult as dungeon monsters aren't constant (due to level of character and whatnot), but treasure chests, quest items, and traps could be identified with a marker easily.

Here's an idea. In the edit screens, you have a bunch of links down below here to add certain symbols and wiki markup tags. How about adding some very commonly typed things as well? You have a [[Category:]] entry. How about a [[Oblivion:]] entry? If I counted how many times I've had to type that out... Just thinking how much time I would've saved just having a simple link I could click that did that automatically. Probably should do one for each namespace. Another one that would be useful would be an asterisk. When I put a note at the bottom of something that's noted from within the text*, I always have to surround the * with "nowiki" tags, so as not to make it a bullet. That's 18 keys to type in order to make one character appear on the screen. Something that does that automatically would be pretty handy. Actually, maybe just having the "nowiki" tags as an option in the wiki markup would be enough. Also, some commonly used templates like the {{Linkable Entry|}} would be nice. Maybe people can think of others. Should be fairly easy to add those, and would really make things much easier sometimes.

This site is very good by the way. Suggestion: Eventhough this wiki is devoted mainly to non-mod attributes to Oblivion, I was thinking about a "Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul" mod (here http://jorgeoscuro.googlepages.com/ ) since the mod adds so much new stuff to the game. Search Function[edit]

Is there any way to improve the Search function on this site? Right now, frankly, it's terrible. You can't search for multiple terms. Try searching for "Oblivion Gate". You get every article with "Oblivion" OR "Gate" in them, not just articles with both. Since this includes, well, every single page in the Oblivion namespace, it's completely useless. Surely there must be a plug-in or module somewhere that lets you search for a full term by putting quotes around your search parameters, or by using boolean operators such as "AND" or "+", like you'd expect to be able to do on any website search these days. --TheRealLurlock 14:14, 12 September 2006 (EDT)
