Summary

This template places a padlock on protected pages and adds them to the appropriate category or categories from the following list:

You can also view a list of protected pages using the Protected pages feature, which is more functional in a number of ways, but does not alphabetize results and does not include section protection.

Parameters

The first two parameters must be one of: full, semi, section or site. For convenience, autoconfirmed and sysop will also work (equivalent to semi and full, respectively). Note that site pages will not be categorized and section pages will not display a lock icon at the top of the page.

Protection
Parameter Scope Description
1 or edit optional Edit protection level of the page.
2 or move optional Move protection level of the page. Defaults to the edit protection level if not specified. If specified on its own, no lock icon will be displayed at the top of the page. In the rare event that a page is edit-protected, but not move-protected, this parameter must be added as blank. Currently, all move-protected pages are categorized into Move Protection regardless of their move-protection level.

Example

{{Protection|semi}}

Placed on a semi-protected page, this would add a silver lock (Padlock-silver.png) to the top right of the page and categorize it into Semi Protection and Move Protection.

{{Protection|move=full}}

Placed on a move-protected page, this would only categorize it into Move Protection.
