Quick Walkthrough

1. Speak to Nevusa Falen in her Andothren store about the other alchemist.
2. (Optional) Report Nevusa to Tilara Danar for 50 gold (ends quest).
3. Either:
   • Place Nevusa's Spoiled Potion in Hemmette Fauler's chest.
   • Report the spoiled potion to Tilara Danar.
   • Return to Nevusa for the Alchemist's Amulet.
4. Or:
   • Talk to Hemmette Fauler about spoiled potion and Nevusa Falen.
   • Return to Hemmette after a day has passed.
   • Deposit 400 gold and the Forged Letter into the barrel outside Nevusa's store.
   • Talk to Hemmette about the forged letter, and then report to Tilara Danar.
   • Wait a day, and then speak to Tilara again.
   • Talk to Hemmette Fauler for 3x Exclusive Restore Health Potions.
   • Wait three days.
   • Talk to Hemmette Fauler for 500 gold.

Detailed Walkthrough

Nevusa Falen owns an alchemical store in Andothren's Warden Plaza (the lowest, eastern portion of the settlement). She has a grudge against the city's other alchemist, Hemmette Fauler, and asking her about this topic will see her ask you to get her rival shut down. She proposes planting a spoiled potion into Hemmette's sale chest, and then reporting the matter to the guards - it seems that Hemmette has already been caught selling spoiled potions before, and is on thin ice.

If you object to Nevusa's scheme, you can immediately inform Tilara Danar in Andothren's Eastern Guard Tower, for a 50 gold reward, but this will only enrage Nevusa, resulting in a disposition hit and no further consequences. You can also report the plot to Hemmette by talking to her about the spoiled potion. In this case, Hemmette will suggest a plot of her own, and asking her about Nevusa Falen will get her to reveal this. You can of course also choose to go along with Nevusa's plan.

Nevusa's Route

Nevusa has given you a spoiled potion (TR_m4_And_NevusaPotion) to place in Hemmette Fauler's chest, which lies behind the counter in Hemmette's store. It's locked, so you'll need to unlock it without Hemmette noticing.

(You can of course kill Hemmette to remove Nevusa's rival in a more direct fashion, but the only reward for doing this is a slight disposition improvement with Nevusa.)

Once the potion is planted, report the spoiled potion to the captain of the guard, Tilara Danar, in one of the watchtowers flanking Andothren's southeastern gate. You can turn in Nevusa as before for 50 gold, or implicate Hemmette as per Nevusa's plot. If you implicate Hemmette, Tilara will imprison her, and a happy Nevusa will reward you with the Alchemist's Amulet. Hemmette's store will also be closed, unoccupied, and ripe for robbing.

Hemmette's Route

Hemmette needs time to plan her revenge, and will ask that you return in a day. Do so and talk to her about the forged letter topic. Her plan involves linking Nevusa to the Camonna Tong, and she asks that you place the letter and 400 gold in the barrel outside the front of Nevusa's store. Once you've done this, speak to Hemmette about the forged letter again. She'll ask you to report your "suspicions" about Nevusa to the captain of the guard, Tilara Danar.

Tilara is in one of the towers flanking Andothren's southeastern gate. Talk to her about the Nevusa Falen topic. She'll accept your report without further questioning. You'll then need to wait a further day, until your journal updates. Then speak to Tilara about Nevusa again. It transpires that Nevusa has been found guilty of association with the Camonna Tong, and has had to pay a bounty. You can now return to Hemmette. She'll give you 3x Exclusive Potions of Healing immediately, and returning in three days will see her give you another reward of 500 gold. Nevusa, needless to say, will have guessed your part, and be livid.

She asked me to plant the letter in the barrel just outside Nevusa's shop along with 400 gold. I will have to provide the gold myself, but Hemmette promised she would pay me back.
76		I put the letter and the gold in the barrel.
90		Hemmette asked me to report Nevusa's shady dealings to Andothren's guard captain, Tilara Danar, in the south tower on the east gate.
95		Tilara Danar agreed to investigate Nevusa Falen's criminal dealings.
98		One day has passed. Tilara Danar's investigation into Nevus Falen should be complete.
100		Tilara Danar told me that Nevusa Falen had been indicted for her criminal dealings, but that she managed to avoid imprisonment by paying her bounty.
135		I told Hemmette that the scheme had been successful. She rewarded me with three exclusive potions and promised to offer reduced prices in her shop. She also promised to return the gold she owes me in three days.
140		Three days have passed. Hemmette is probably ready to pay me back.
145	Finishes quest	Hemmette was able to pay her debt, along with another 100 gold for the trouble.
