Aid Points[edit]

When I found "Mummified Finger" (and I loaded a previous save and went and picked it up again just to check) it actually gave me 3 gift points instead of 1. I have not been meticulous enough to check every item before, but most items I got after that one were only worth the 1 point. I'll keep checking to see if anything else gives multiple gift points or if that one was a fluke. It certainly explains how my previous file amassed 66 gift points despite that being likely impossible if they're each worth one. Msico (talk) 17:16, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Entirely possible. The points you receive seem to depend on how each individual trainer reacts to the gift - see the NPC pages for details. —Legoless (talk) 17:32, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
What I mean is, when you find items you can use as gifts while out and about in the dungeon, that's when your stats screen increments your Gift Points. It doesn't seem to care who you give it to. Most items are 1 point each, for finding them, but apparently some are worth more than 1 point for their discovery... it may be based on how far from the center you are? I'll look more into it. Oh, that's odd. We might need a separate page or section for this "Gift Points" stat then, since it seems to be so central to game progression and isn't directly related to the NPCs' aid points. Does that mean that actually giving an NPC the gift does nothing to increment the stat? —Legoless (talk) 12:29, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
That is correct. Odd, but correct. I assume that giving stuff to the "right" people is only a benefit because it lets you train slightly more with them. Msico (talk) 14:56, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
Also worth 3 points, Scented Soap. Officially, items are worth different points upon pickup. I'll start keeping track. If I get any duplicates, we'll know it's location based. Msico (talk) 16:18, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
Aeder Cake found to be worth 3 points upon pickup. I was excited because I thought it was a duplicate, but coming here I found that I hadn't edited the values so it was probably the first time. I did walk all the way back to camp after finding it and I was 6 dungeons removed from camp at the time; when I found Scented Soap that means I was 5 dungeons removed. I cannot progress further in that direction so I will head a new way and see if the 5th dungeon gift items are worth more. Msico (talk) 18:06, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
Training in general does not boost your experience level the same way building the stats in the field does. If you get 9 aid points with someone and train all of them, regardless of which skill, your experience level stays the same. If you choose to "befriend" people, sometimes your experience level increases-- this is a result of your Speechcraft skill increasing by successfully befriending people. Dungeons[edit]

I found the Overseer Eye in Back Breaker, not Madknife Descent. Are these dungeon listings correct? --KingEadwyre (talk) 17:50, 18 November 2019 (GMT)

Also, I have just found a second Ivory Clasp in Cripple Bend (if I'm remembering the name correctly). --KingEadwyre (talk) 18:13, 18 November 2019 (GMT)
It is possible that the locations are pseudo-randomly generated, i.e. consistent between playthroughs on a single device, but not actually hardcoded. —Legoless (talk) 18:26, 18 November 2019 (GMT)
I've finished my complete playthrough of Stormhold (all 36 dungeons and gift items) and I made a list of which gift items each dungeon contained. All of the listings on this page are correct, however some of the gift items appear in multiple dungeons. None of the items listed as 'missing data' actually appeared in the game. Perhaps Stormhold has unobtainable gift items like Dawnstar, and the gift items are consistent? --KingEadwyre (talk) 09:41, 23 November 2019 (GMT)
The list is on my user page if it's good for anything. --KingEadwyre (talk) 11:41, 23 November 2019 (GMT)
I just finished a first playthrough of Stormhold and my notes match KingEadwyre's exactly. It might not be random at all. Boustrophedon (talk) 05:32, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
