Quest Issue[edit]

If this quest is attempted AFTER the assault on Whiterun, it is not completable if you are given the quest to enter in to Hienskr's House, as it is destroyed in the attack.(-cyb) — Unsigned comment by 69.8.19.183 (talk) at 02:00 on 3 December 2011

It seems silly that getting arrested in an unrelated area to the quest area will fail it, especially when it's due the Cidhna Mine quest.
Setting the quest stage to 200 will complete the quest but breaks Vex dialogue and she won't offer any new jobs.
A better console command to fix the arresting issue would be: Set TGRFailArrestVex to 0
Hope it will help someone. — Unsigned comment by 93.173.58.40 (talk) at 15:17 on 9 December 2011
Not sure if this matters but I used the console to progress the quest as I was given the target as Heimskr's House AFTER the Battle for Whiterun. Setting the stage to 20 doesn't work, console returns a stage 20 not found error. Setting to 50 works — Unsigned comment by 94.171.117.30 (talk) at 15:13 on 14 January 2012
I failed this quest for going to "jail" when I did not, in fact, go to jail, or even receive any sort of bounty. The only odd thing I did was sleep and get picked up by Astrid for "With Friends Like These". I think there might be an odd interference between these two quests (and maybe others that detect if you went to jail). 174.109.187.46 11:24, 12 June 2013 (GMT)

House of Clan Cruel-Sea is Guild-Protected?[edit]

After getting run out of the house by the little boy, who gets up to play at midnight(nice parenting there, folks) and can magically detect me through objects, because the house has so many lights and so much open space that I don't think there's a single spot to hide in, I checked the shadowmark in front of the house and according to the shadowmarks book I have the house is "Protected" and the guild doesn't want you stealing from it. This is strange because the quest I got to steal from it is FROM a guild-member... Bushwhacker 07:01, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

The protected shadowmarks mean pretty much nothing, as long as you aren't caught or try to kill those affected by it I would guess. I hate Maven, so I emptied her house for a bedlam job, and it progressed just fine too. The only npc who ever realized I took something of theirs was Collette at the mages college. I looted her merchant chest and put what I didn't want in a barrel. She saw me take stuff of hers from the barrel through the floor, and instead of reporting me, walked up to, told me it didn't belong from me, and removed her stuff from my inventory without asking. I didn't know the few intelligent npc's could do that.--Playerseekingbugs 19:56, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
The non-reporting is linked to their morality level, while the taking stuff back is affected by their disposition towards you. A high disposition results in a "friendly", don't do it again reaction, while a low level results in the "hostile" reaction of, too right you won't do it again, because you're dead. Thank for the clarification. I was just suprised because she's the only 'friendly' character I've had witness me take stuff by accident and not report me and make threats right away. I once had the alchemist in Morthal imply that she somehow knew I had looted her store while she was sleeping and before she became a 'friend', but that's about it besides two instances of the thugs.--Playerseekingbugs 04:51, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Severio Pelagia's House[edit]

In the notes section, it says: "If you have already participated in the quest Battle for Whiterun it becomes impossible to enter some homes in Whiterun, namely Heimskr's House and Severio Pelagia's House. However, they can still be assigned as a possible quest destination." But Severio Pelagia's House is not listet as one of the possible targets. SarthesArai (talk) 15:30, 30 March 2013 (GMT)

Looks like a copy/paste oversight as the same thing affects multiple quests which do include Severio's house. Changed now. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 15:37, 30 March 2013 (GMT)

Three Items Needed, One Item Spawned[edit]

As we all know, The Sweep Job involves stealing three objects from a selected house. Most recently, I was assigned to target Amren's house in Whiterun. I sneaked in in broad daylight while the place was unlocked, stole a Jeweled Flagon off the shelf right in front of where his wife was cooking...and that was it. Not only could I not find the other two items I was supposed to steal (and Amren's is a fairly empty house), there aren't even quest markers for them. The objective "Clear Amren's house in Whiterun of valuables" is stuck at 1/3. I've done this quest a few times already this playthrough, and God knows how many times in previous playthroughs, and this has never happened before. I have one mod that alters the exterior of Whiterun, but none that modify any of the original interior spaces.--Shahrazad the Listener (talk) 19:13, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

Following up on a quest marker I couldn't otherwise explain, I found the remaining two items in an NPC house that had been added by the mod in question. I'm going to go report this as a bug to the mod creator.--Shahrazad the Listener (talk) 19:23, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
